Alfie was worried. Nearly enough to be actually worried sick which he thought had always been just something people said, but he was worried and his sisters were worried and he was too scared to owl his dad about it and see what they were planning to do. When they figured it out, he figured they'd let them know somehow.

So instead of trying to write an owl he'd never send, he wrote to Julien, and wrote to Drew ad Audrey, and ten minutes later he was coming through the door of the classroom. He got there before Julien did, this time, and sat down on the couch to wait for him.

His hands were shaking, and he didn't realize until he tried to brush his hair out of his eyes.

	Oh, Alfie was shaking and Julien couldn't stand it. He gladly fell into Alfie's lap, putting his arms around his shoulders and nuzzling in against his neck, kissing him again, soft and comforting and trying to reassure. 	"Yeah," Alfie snorted. "I'm fine. I'm halfblood My mum...' His voice cracked, and instead of finishing whatever he was going to say he had a hand at Julien's neck, pulling him in for a kiss that wasn't about comfort so much as it was about getting whatever strength he could from it. 	Julien whimpered against Alfie's mouth as he felt the way his boyfriend tried to pull something out of it that wasn't altogether happy something, but still something that Julien tried to give. 	The kiss became too hard for what Alfie wanted, but he couldn't seem to stop himself. He whimpered into Julien's mouth, and it wasn't entirely because he was into it. By the time he pulled back, he was panting, and his lips were swollen, and he still felt a little sick about everything. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

	Julien pulled back as Alfie stopped the kiss and leant in once more to press his closed mouth to Alfie's, then again to Alfie's cheek and his forehead. He combed his fingers through Alfie's hair a few times, trying to pet him into calm a little. "Alf..." he murmured again, wanting him to talk. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

	Julien sighed heavily and shook his head, not letting it part from Alfie's. "I know what I want to say... but I think that soon, we won't be allowed to say it." he said cryptically. 	"What?" Alfie said, and then he pulled back, suddenly concerned. He realized suddenly that he didn't know hardly anything about Julien's family. "Are you... your family? Is it okay for yours?" 	Julien curled up a little more and tucked himself in against Alfie's chest, rubbing his thumb against the back of Alfie's hand, but also nuzzling in against his chest... and avoiding eye contact at the same time. "Weird how?" Alfie didn't like the sound of that. He was terrified to owl his dad, but he didn't think he'd like getting weird owls from him any better. The hand that wasn't holding Julien's came up and rubbed at the back of the other boy's neck - and it wasn't shaking anymore, but he barely notice. Something about having Julien to take care of at least calmed him down enough to stop shivering.

	Alfie sighed, softer this time, the hand at the back of his neck the most settling, stable thing he'd felt since getting the letters. "Weird like... like they were in two different places. Alfie looked confused, concerned - worried for Julien, and that was crowding out the way he'd been worried for himself and his own family, somehow. There was a small voice in the back of his head that was screaming that Julien was his to protect, damn it. And he didn't know how to do that from something this big.

"What do you mean, two different places? What did they say?"

	Julien sat back from Alfie, but pushed a hand up into the back of Alfie's hair, petting there and watching his hand so that he didn't have to look Alfie in the eye. "My dad wants me to go home... like, back to the Muggle world. I think he's freaking out a bit, but my mum..." He shrugged, shaking his head a little bit. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

	Alfie wrapped an arm around Julien's back, holding him in closer against him, and the hand and his neck stayed there, guided Julien's head to his shoulder before stroking slowly down his spine and over his shoulders. Julien pulled back from Alfie again, but he gave Alfie a smile and eskimo kissed Alfie. "I can always tell you things..." he said, but then the smile dropped from his face. "She was saying things about blood and power and magic... she sounded almost angry at me. I don't know what's going on." He made the facial expression equivalent of a shrug and then pet his hand through Alfie's hair again. "Are your family okay?" he asked quietly.

From the confused expression he was still giving him, it was clear Alfie didn't understand it any better than Julien did. Maybe he'd watch for Julien getting owls in the morning from now on, though, and maybe he'd try to be with him when he read them...

"Huh?" He asked, like he'd forgotten this had anything to do with him. Like protecting Julien was the only thing on his mind. Then it rushed back, and he gave the same sullen sort of shrug. "I don't know. Dad works for the Ministry, you know. I wouldn't think they'd do anything to someone who works there, or their family? And he's pureblood, or you know, close enough to it. But mum's muggleborn... "

	Julien frowned, feeling the same kind of helplessness about Alfie's situation that Alfie felt about him. He leant back in to put their foreheads together and nuzzled gently, the pain of two souls who were feeling the same confusion and fear, only made better by the fact that they weren't alone. 	Alfie let his hand trail up Julien's back again, and this time when it went to his neck it went to tangle in his hair instead, tipping Julien's mouth up for his. He didn't have anything he could say to make this any better than he had already, but he could kiss him. And maybe that would help. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

	It helped, helped more than Julien would have expected it to actually, and Julien gave back as good as he got, tried to at least, tried to make things better for Alfie the way Alfie was trying to make things better for him. He pressed close and allowed Alfie to regain some control in some part of his life, control over this kiss and over him. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)
