Several days into her stay here, Kimberly figured it was time to start looking for a job. As much as she hated to admit it, she was probably going to be here awhile and needed a way to earn a paycheck, not to mention a schedule for something to do. She wasn't Billy, she couldn't just make a portal machine out of spare parts.
Never mind that she was told it wouldn't help. It would've been something.
It was a quick breakfast at Granny's (not the juice bar, but homey enough), before she set her mind to looking for a job, with no more of a plan than to go but down mainstreet and work her way through the shops. As much as ranger duty and gymnastics took up a lot of her time, she was glad to say she wasn't totally inexperienced: she'd done a lot of volunteer work and earned some money tutoring in music and dance lessons-that had to count for something on a job application.
Being who she was, Kimberly also couldn't help but look through the shop windows of this store or that, looking at the displays. She was practical enough to know not to buy anything when all she had was a loan (not even an allowance), but a girl could wish after all.
