Who: Marian and Robin
What: Reunion of sorts
When: Early Afternoon
Where: The Library
Rating: TBD
Status: Complete

Marian brushed a curl back from her face, the loose bun not really keeping a hold of the curls all that well. She finished soon, that she was a little glad of. She had to come in rather early that morning and as fantastic as this place could be, it had been a little too quiet. Until five minutes ago, of course, when one of the girls who worked there with her realised Marian was leaving in twenty minutes so thought now would be a good time to pile her with the books that had to get put away. At least she didn't have to carry them, these little trolley things really were fantastic. She could get this done in no time, if she could just get to the right aisle.

She only had a couple more to put back, so she stopped next to where they kept the computers to fix the cream blouse she had on, the silk making her grin. Clothes were so easy to get now, and she rather appreciated the money she got from working here that allowed her to buy such nice things. Just as she was about to start pushing the trolley again a rather familiar face caught her attention from the corner of her eye. A grin split across her face as she found it difficult to breathe for a second.

"Robin?" she said quiet enough that it wouldn't bother others here, but loud enough that he wouls hear.

"Sure," she said with a little smile.

She was glad that they would be able to talk without a rush for once, without worrying about having to get back to the castle, or being caught. Walking back to the room, she grabbed another bag before smiling at him.

"I was going to go get some more food tomorrow, so there's not as much as usual."

She did not seem overly concerned, so he wondered if his first assumption had been correct, and his second one was wrong. Still, she had already done so much for him, and he did not want to make problems for her.

Not that Marian had ever hesitated in the past to tell him when he was putting her out. But he was not certain if her more relaxed attitude here would extend to her sacrificing for him; he did not wish her to do that.

"As long as there's no squirrel meat, I'll be fine with whatever you can spare," he smiled. As he said it, he felt a pang at the thought of his friends, wondering how they were doing. If he suddenly had gone missing, Much would be beside himself. And so soon after everything else...

There was nothing he could do about it, so he shoved the worry aside once more. Following her into the kitchen, he waited to see what she had.

"I've not heard of a single person eating squirrel here," she said with a laugh.

Moving to the kitchen, she started with the things in the cupboared, starting to put them away in the bags and smiling softly at him. Whatever she could spare? Shaking her head, she stopped putting the food away and moving to wrap her arms around him and pressing a soft kiss to his lips.

"It is our food, not just mine. Our home, our food. I don't have to spare some for you, you're more than welcome to take whatever you like," she said with a smile. "And I know you'll be hungry, I have seen what it's like in that forest. I could cook you something once we're settled tonight."

"That's a relief," he chuckled back. He had spotted a couple of the critters whilst they were walking down the street earlier, and had very much hoped that he was correct about the availability of food.

What she was putting into the bags, however, was curious indeed. The boxes had him especially intrigued; he recognized most of the pictures on the cans, but much of what was on the boxes was odd. But then, she was snuggled up against him, giving him a quick kiss, and he could not have cared less what they were going to be eating.

He could sympathize with what she was saying, as he would feel exactly the same. But he would be making sure that she had all she wanted; she would not be hungry on his account. What she was packing up did seem more than enough, however; perhaps it was simply less than she was used to here? He would be very glad to learn that.

At her offer, his eyebrows went up. He was this close to teasing her about offering to cook for him now, when she had been so up-in-arms about it back at camp, but this was too sweet to ruin.

"I would appreciate that, very much."

"I don't think they're actually allowed to eat it here," she said more to herself than to anyone else.

She laughed at the look on his face when he heard her offer, her fingers trailing lightly through his hair. That reminded her, she'd have to get him in a shower, but she'd deal with that when they got back to the room.

"Good. We can finish packing this, put it away at home then I'll get started," she said with a grin, starting to pull away but not able to resist yet another kiss.

After her lips leaving his a fair few times, she eventaully managed to move to finish packing the food away. Giving him some of the bags, she checked that she hadn't left anything before leading him out, locking the door behind them. Soon the food was put in it's rightful place, and Robin was a little more knowledgeable about the food and the kitchen in general. Then she was leading him by the hand to the bathroom, the bags with his clothes and the things he would need in the shower in her other hand.

"Whilst I make dinner why don't you get use to this?" she said with a grin as she pointed to the shower.

They seemed destined to have romantic moments in kitchens, Robin mused. When he finally told her he loved her, it was in the castle kitchens (a moment rendered less than ideal by the fact that they were crouched over Allan's prostrate form at the time, but still), and now, they shared a set of kisses that floored him in the middle of this kitchen.

Perhaps he should have proposed in one; maybe she would not have left him dangling so long before accepting, if he had.

But, they still had to finish up this move. After they put everything away, Marian explained how a kitchen worked in this day and age, and while he was impressed, it also made him miss his friends once more. Much would be delighted with a stove, and he even thought of Thornton when Marian showed him the refrigerator and freezer, remembering the butler's lament one summer about how quickly foodstuffs spoilt in the heat.

And then, she explained the bathroom to him, placing particular stress on the shower.

Discreetly sniffing his shirt collar, he asked, "Are you trying to tell me something?" He was joking, but all the same, it was not the first time someone had alluded to eau de outlaw. Well, he would like them to take constant baths in the frigid stream and then see how harshly they judged the gang.

But this shower was lovely! "I think I can handle that," he agreed cheerfully. Now, it just remained to be seen if he could recall what she had said all of these bottles were for.

She made sure to show him how the shower worked, and wondered if she was mentioning that particular part of the bathroom far too often. Still, she may be slightly use to the smell but that didn't mean she was all that fond of it. But he wasn't as bad as some of the other outlaws, that she was sure of. Or perhpas she just didn't notice it with Robin purely because it was Robin.

"Perhaps," she said with a grin, before nodding when he agreed. "It's a lot quicker than a bath, and remember to use most of what I've given you. Shampoo, conditioner and the body wash get used in the shower. Deodorant is after. Shampoo and conditioner go in that order for your hair, and the body wash is self-explanatory. Remember to wash it off, of course, all three of them and be careful that you don't get the shampoo or conditioner in your eyes, it might sting you and if you do just wash your eyes with the warm water, it will clear it out," she said with a grin, wanting to make sure he knew.

He had to laugh as she re-explained everything to him; he had it now, but it was a sight more complicated than a lump of soap. Complications were a small price to pay for getting to wash under what was essentially a hot waterfall. With a last reminder about toothpaste (toothbrushes were a definite improvement over green twigs), she brought some amazingly thick towels in and left him to it.

The water was so nice that he lost track of time, finally thinking to wash up when he realized he had simply been standing there for too long. He eyed the razor Marian had left out, but after looking in the mirror-- a vaguely unsettling experience, seeing such a clear reflection of himself; albeit a useful thing,-- he did not see that a shave was necessary just yet.

Donning his new clothing, he found that he was slightly nervous. Now that he was no longer wearing his familiar outfit, instead garbed in a very unfamiliar modern one, this all seemed so... real. He knew his own world inside and out, beyond most people, and was supremely confident of his ability to survive there. Here? He hadn't the faintest clue where to begin.

Straightening, he gave himself a mental kick in the arse. Stop feeling so sorry for yourself, and get out there and see what your wife has cooked. Your betrothed. Marian.

Doing his best to grin as if he hadn't a care in the world, he went out into the apartment.

Marian had informed him of everything he needed to know before she left, shutting the door firmly behind her. Taking a deep breath, she rushed to her new bedroom and began putting everything she had away, leaving out a dress for her to change into. Once that was done, she moved to the kitchen and looked for what she had planned to make herself that night. Chicken was something simple enough, and now that those fantastic stores sold them already in pieces it was easier for her. Turning on the oven, she began setting everything up before sticking the chicken into the oven. It wouldn't take too long. With that done, she moved to the small potatos, setting them in a pan then putting them on to heat along with the other vegetables. It was strange, cooking for two, but she could get use to it. And he deserved a proper meal for once.

Checking everything once more, she moved to her bedroom and started to change, pulling her hair from the bun and forgetting shoes. Stockings would be more than fine on the floor, and she didn't really feel the need to put on her flatter shoes. It was strange, of course, that she had chosen to buy so many dresses considering women could wear trousers now, but she had to admit she quite liked the dresses she had and this one in particular. It was whire, with black circles throughout making a rather nice pattern and it skimmed her curves nicely but wasn't too tight.

Running her fingers through her hair, she closed the door to her bedroom before going to the kitchen to check on dinner. Fixing the pans on the stove, she bent at the knees to check on the chicken, ignoring the way her skirt now billowed over her legs completely and across the floor a little. That was when she heard the bathroom door open and she looked over to look at him. Her breath left her body almost instantly. He looked incredible. Pushing herself up to stand, she brushed at her dress before smiling at him.

"Dinner is on, should be ready soon."

He heard sounds in the kitchen, so he went over to the doorway. Marian was leant down in front of the oven, now wearing a lovely dress, and with her hair hanging softly around her shoulders. When she looked up at him, his breath caught. The nervousness came back in a rush, dosed with a hefty dash of self-consciousness; she was so gorgeous, and seemed to fit in well here. Not only was he uncertain as to his ability to do the latter, but he was feeling very undeserving of her right at this moment.

But then, he noticed her expression, and relaxed. At least, he had gotten the clothing right. When she stood and smiled, he had a smile of his own for her.

"Smells delicious." But not as delicious as you look.

She grinned at that, glad that it at least seemed nice enough by the smell. She just hoped the taste was as good. Soon, she was ushering him into a seat as she plated up the food, placing it in front of him with a nervous smile. In camp she didn't really get to cook anything, that was Much's job. But she always use to sneak into the kitchens when she was little and watch, plus she had a book full of recipes she had bought to try out.

"I hope it's okay," she said as she bit her lip. "I'm not exactly Much."

Moving to ger her own plate, she sat opposite him trying her best not to just watch. She was worried, that much was true. But she knew it wasn't the worse thing to eat in the world.

Robin was a little surprised when Marian led him to the table and served him; he would have been fine dishing himself up. He was going to wait until she had seated herself to eat, but she was watching him expectantly-- nervously? That made him relax even more, and he endeavored to put her at ease, as well.

Taking a bite, he nodded at her, saying with all honesty, "It's excellent. Much would be impressed," he added with a wink. It was good, too; different than he was used to, but not in a bad way. He had been exposed to a variety of foods during his travels, and found that he liked many of them; while he had not thought to complain in camp (except to wind up Much), because having anything to eat at all was a luxury, he missed having a selection in his diet.

This was simply chicken and potatoes, nothing fancy, but it was quite good. "So, I have discovered that you are a skilled cook," he remarked. His eyes twinkling as he regarded her across the small table, he asked, "Do you have any other talents you've been keeping from me?"

She felt herself release the breath she didn't realise she had been holding as she smild. He liked it, and she had a feeling he wasn't just saying that to please her. He really did like it. She took a bite herself and smiled, it wasn't all that bad actually. It had been something she made quite a lot, easy to make and she knew she would like it already.

"Skilled?" she repeated with a laugh. "I wouldn't go as far to say skilled."

She quirked an eyebrow at that, wondering exactly what he was asking here. Deciding just to shrug, she smiled at him.

"Not that I know of."

Very well; maybe he had been exaggerating just a little. But it was worth it to see her relax, and even moreso to hear her laugh. And when she raised an eyebrow at him, he realized that the question that he had merely meant as a joke had sounded as if it had another meaning. As if it were a euphemism, he thought with a grin.

At least she was going along with it. "I guess we shall have to wait and see, then."

After they had both had a bit more to eat, he took a drink of the wine Marian had poured, and then looked at her. "So, tell me about what you have been doing since you got here. I doubt you have just been working and sleeping." And reading books about people with our names making love in the forest.

"I guess so."

She kept eating, occasionally glancing at him to make sure everything was okay. If she was honest, she knew that he would appreciate pretty much anything she gave him, since she knew what it was like to go on the small rations he had in the forest. Taking a sip of her wine, she glanced up at him at his question.

"Mostly those two. Just...exploring, I guess. Learning about everything that has changed and what new things there are."

He felt rather guilty about the food left on his plate, automatically wondering whom he could give any leftovers from their meal to-- and then, realizing that there was nobody depending on him to provide for them. His father would have been upset with him to not consider Marian in that way, and there was a part of him that wanted to be doing so; however, not only would she be likely to get angry with him if she were to discover that he thought it, but she also was doing a quite good job of it herself.

Her answer struck him as slightly amusing. "Do you mean to say that there is something that has not changed? So far, the most recognizable thing I have seen-- other than you, of course,-- is this chair."

"Finished?" she asked with a smile, taking the plate when he nodded and standing with her own to place them by the sink. She'd clean that up later. Moving back to the table, she was slightly surprised to see everything else she had to clear up had already been taken to the sink by Robin.

"Then you'll just have to learn about a lot of things, wont you?"

Grabbing the bottle of wine she had opened and her glass, she nodded to the couch before putting the bottle on the little coffee table, her glass going next to it before she turned to face him.

"Come sit with me?"
