"That's a relief," he chuckled back. He had spotted a couple of the critters whilst they were walking down the street earlier, and had very much hoped that he was correct about the availability of food.
What she was putting into the bags, however, was curious indeed. The boxes had him especially intrigued; he recognized most of the pictures on the cans, but much of what was on the boxes was odd. But then, she was snuggled up against him, giving him a quick kiss, and he could not have cared less what they were going to be eating.
He could sympathize with what she was saying, as he would feel exactly the same. But he would be making sure that she had all she wanted; she would not be hungry on his account. What she was packing up did seem more than enough, however; perhaps it was simply less than she was used to here? He would be very glad to learn that.
At her offer, his eyebrows went up. He was this close to teasing her about offering to cook for him now, when she had been so up-in-arms about it back at camp, but this was too sweet to ruin.
