Anna had mentioned that there was a pool. Well...it wasn't the Pacific, but it'd have to do, she supposed. If there was one way that Rikki had become accustomed to blowing off steam and de-stressing, it was swimming. Well, and moping in the Moon Pool, but that was a no-go here, so she'd have to deal with what she had available to her. If she was in a whole new universe, like other people were saying, maybe the magic didn't even work. Maybe she'd go back to being a normal girl.
Her new found — however awkwardly canine — friend had taken her back to the complex of apparently misfit toys and she'd gotten herself a room and an amulet. That ought to appease the rest of them. She'd even started filtering her posts.
Slipping out of her room and down the hall to the elevator, Rikki found herself wondering who some of her neighbors were. Specifically, were any of them cool? The thought only lasted as long as it took for the lift to open and take her to her destination. There was an entire floor that was just a giant swimming pool. Anna hadn't mentioned the massive sizeof it; it was a pleasant surprise. Still no ocean, but at least it would give her space.
Looking over her shoulder to make sure no one was around, Rikki squatted at the edge of the pool and took a deep breath, dipping a finger into the water. "One. Two. Three," she counted as she got back to her feet. "Four. Five. Six." If nothing happened, she'd be a little disappointed, she realized. "Seven. Eight. Nine..."
As she opened her mouth to hit 'ten,' she felt the change. For a second, she wobbled on the pool deck, pinwheeling her arms to keep from falling in the wrong direction. It was basically impossible, though, to stay upright when her legs turned into a tail and Rikki tumbled into the pool, letting herself sink to the bottom where she rolled over and looked up through the water to the ceiling.
For a moment, she didn't move. She just laid at the bottom of the pool wishing that there was sand there instead of concrete. This was going to take some getting used to. Finally, though, she moved, propelling herself toward the other end of the pool and then back again. For the first time since getting here, Rikki felt some semblance of freedom again. Without really considering the consequence, she used her super speed and zipped to the opposite end of the pool again and flip turned to head back. The lap was completed when she misjudged the length of the pool because of all the bubbles, and slowed down a little too late, smacking her head on the side of the pool.
Surfacing, Rikki grimaced and pulled herself up a little, arms crossed beneath herself on the edge of the pool. "Ugh...asking strangers to teleport doesn't sound so bad after all..." she mumbled, frowning.
