Every version of the story is different. The conversations, the tiny details; they're all told in their own way, with different twists and turns and points delivered to properly execute the tale. The story has changed over time, repeatedly leading those belonging to different cultures with opposing beliefs clashing over the subject for hundreds upon hundreds of years. In the end, however, the story never really matters. It's the name, the significance, the idea of what he represents that strikes nothing short of pure terror into the heart of man.

Lucifer. The fallen.

As the angels tell it, it was his refusal to bow to humanity that brought on his fate. He believed that the angels were better, finding God's favoritism toward the mortal beings that walked the earth to be nothing short of distasteful. In turn, Lucifer chose to rebel by wickedly twisting a human into a demon. Rather than bringing forth the change in order as he had hoped, Lucifer instead found himself being punished by God for his disobedience. Delivered from the heavens, Lucifer was forced into a new home - a seemingly impenetrable cage trapped within the fiery depths of Hell. Six hundred seals bound Lucifer to his cage. Six hundred. Only sixty-six, if done correctly, would be required to break in order to free Lucifer from damnation.

Thousands of years later, as prophesied, a righteous man shed blood in Hell. Against the torment that found him in the pits, Dean Winchester began to crumble. The very first seal was quick to follow, breaking the pathway to all others like it open to those who sought to free the fallen from his chains at last. Demons began to rise up, led by Lilith - Lucifer's First, the very human that he twisted into a demonic form that brought forth his own downfall - to break the seals. At the same time, perhaps the first in thousands of years, angels too began to route themselves toward the seals to oppose any and all who dared attempt to destroy them. A silent battle, unknown to most of humanity, waged on between the angels and demons.

In the middle of it all, stood two brothers. Each with a role to play, both with the best of intentions at heart. With the angels pushing at one side and a demon guiding the other, the Winchester brothers, too, fought against the demons, steadily gunning their way toward Lilith. The Winchesters were key players in the struggle between Heaven and Hell. That had been anticipated from the beginning. What no one expected was for the impossible to occur: while bordering a little ways short of the halfway point, Lilith destroyed the thirtieth seal and, upon doing so, unknowingly shattered a barrier between worlds.

Soon afterward, people from those worlds began to appear out of thin air.

CHERUB was created for one reason, and one reason only - adults never suspect that children are spying on them.

Now these child agents, aged between ten and seventeen, have been placed under the guardianship of senior agents and relocated to Pleasant Valley, Pennsylvania. Halloween at Durmstrang means two things: The annual Dark Path party, and the yearly Halloween ball. It's a time-honored tradition that student look forward to yearly, to relieve from the stress of the school year. Everyone needs a little break from time to time, and what better way than by celebrating? This year though, something else is in the mix. The White Hand's making an appearance, and no one knows just what they're up to. Students are getting a bit wary - they've always been safe inside the school walls. The Upper East Side used to be overrun with plastic surgery happy society women, and spoiled tots torturing their high-priced nannies. But times have changed. While these people still occupy a small portion of the sidewalks, they have been pushed aside for a new generation of beautiful people. Socialites brought up in the lap of luxury, who spend their days buying overpriced La Perla undergarments at Barney's, and indulging in frozen hot chocolate at Serendipity. But spending money isn't all that's on their mind. There's always gossip. [info]luxe_life_ is a played by game based on the popular novel/TV series Gossip Girl written by Cecily von Ziegesar. In this storyline we follow the rich and powerful, living in gorgeous apartments, attending the most exclusive events, and treating New York's Upper East Side as their personal playground. We're not here to play out the Gossip Girl novels, nor are we playing the characters in them, so you're free to be original. This doesn't mean you can't be like someone in Gossip Girl but you're not limited to those character types. We welcome people from all walks of life and all ages. There is an apartment building in New York called 'Bellum Letale.' Most people ignore its auspicious name, though they would be advised to pay more attention to its meaning.

It is a strange building. It seems to be somehow bigger inside than out, with narrow passageways, intimidating doorways, and lovely corners that disappear and reappear at random. And its occupants are just as strange--from all over the world, from all walks of life, all of their lives have nudged them toward this building as if they were always meant to live there.

This is, of course, because they were. Every man, woman and child in the building is a reincarnated fable, the stories told to human children for hundreds, sometimes thousands of years. Once very real, the fables began to fade as science and reason dispelled the probability of their existence. They have all been reborn in human forms, though their essence remains, waiting to be awakened at the right time, in the right place.

Now is the time--Bellum Letale is the place. As their lives connect and weave together, as they follow their petty desires and chase love, they are, all of them, on the brink of disaster. Not just for them, but for the world at large. This world of science is in need of fables once more, even if the fables themselves do not yet know how much.
