I have a project (Gretchen, you're going to help with this): recreating the Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster.

According to The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, "The best drink in existence is the Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster, the effect of which is like having your brains smashed out with a slice of lemon wrapped round a large gold brick.”

Now accepting suggestions on what the people think goes in that. My first thought was "lemonade and moonshine," but I feel like it also needs to taste good if it's the best drink in existence.

Lemon or citrus vodka, amaretto, and cognac. Equal parts of the vodka and cognac, one shot of amaretto.

That definitely sounds like it would knock someone on their ass. And the amaretto and cognac would give it some of the depth it needs for that gold brick feeling. This is a good entry. Are you a bartender or something?

Nah, just grew up in Mystic Falls. Everyone from there is a low key functioning alcoholic.

If you want the version that doesn't try to knock you out, sub the vodka for a half shot of lemon juice and increase the cognac or do an equal part of limoncello, which has a lower proof.

Sounds like my family. Where's Mystic Falls?

While I'm sure that's a tasty cocktail, I don't think we can call it a PGGB if it's not going to flatten a standard person.

In the South of the United States, so that should tell you some things.

Ahhh, got it. You're accepting the challenge. Respect for that. You could do a play on a standard sidecar if you want more of a citrus punch to your brain. Gets rid of the amaretto and vodka, but adds in an orange liquor. (I'd recommend Licor 43 for that.)

Ooh, gotcha, okay. My human side's from San Francisco, so the south is a mystery to me.

You're a fountain of liquor knowledge, sir.

There's not much to do in small towns in the South, other than avoid getting murdered and get drunk in graveyards. But San Francisco is great! I lived there for a bit in one of my universes. Great food, lots of shit to do and see.

If you think I'm knowledgeable, wait until Caroline opens her mouth. (She veers toward vodkas and wines tho.)

One of your universes? How many universes have you been in?

Other than my original, this is my third.

Damn, that's a lot of hopping around. I'm glad you got to experience a San Francisco in one, though. There's not many places more fun to live. What were your other two like?

Yeah, it was a blast in San Francisco. I explored a lot of the continental US in that one, plus the Hawaiian Islands. Still haven't made it up to Alaska though. The universe after that was in Bumfuck, Texas. Placed called Tumbleweed? It was a giant tumbleweed with the occasional Monster of the Week trying to kill you and/or a yearly cruise from Hell. Then I landed in Vallo, now a couple of times. And you know how Vallo is.

Oh boy do I know how Vallo is. When I first landed here, it was in a miniaturized evil dark haunted Vallo that was kept inside a snowglobe. I was there for months before we even knew we were inside a much larger, much nicer universe.

Oh yeah, shit I remember that! I was here for like six months the first time and toward the end of it, the Snowglobe from hell thing hit. I think I got yeeted out of this universe like a month after you guys got out? So we didn't really get a chance to talk back then.

I only got back a little before this Interitus convergence thing. Proceeded to get a house dropped on me in the future, so that was pretty fun welcome back.

Yikes, man. That's a hell of a time to return. But hey, welcome back to Vallo, and may we never have anything quite that shitty ever again.

Kind of used to it. I've died a couple of times already, so it wasn't too much of a shock? Kind of gave my future bestie Fitz a heartattack though.

But yeah, ditto on the good times rolling. I would like a day where it just rains paper money. No coins. I know how you work, Vallo.

You stay busy, huh? I've lost track of how many times I've died in very real-feeling simulations, but actual me hasn't done death yet. Which honestly I'm grateful for - once you get divided from the collective consciousness and spliced with human DNA, you start worrying about things like "do I have a soul?" and it just gets stressful.

I wasn't kidding about Mystic Falls being all booze and death. Throw in a lot of supernatural hijinks and you got a CW show.

What else are you? I know you said human, but spliced with what? Or is that too personal of a question to be asking?

CW shows are the ones that are crazy dramatic, right? We didn't have them in my world - my earth is just alternate enough from a lot of these that I'm missing a bunch of the pop culture references.

Nah, it's cool, I'm pretty open about it. My original species is called typhon, and while we come in a bunch of different physical forms with different abilities, we're all connected to one big mind. We shapeshift and connect psychically, and we're so different from humans that we didn't actually recognize humans as beings when we first came in contact with them. Alex Yu gave me a shot of Morgan Yu's DNA and memories to try to teach typhons to recognize humans as something other than general organic matter. So now I'm not really a typhon and not really human either, but I remember being both, sort of. A lot of it's patchy on both sides.

Oh yeah, that's the ones. We have pocket dimensions, hell dimensions, low key time traveling, immortal beings of all kinds, and lots of hunters. You'll find the rare human around, but they tend to be unnaturally good at staying alive beyond the bullshit.

Oh man, so you're a Ripley Clone? But like, less Sigourney Weaver and more Tomorrow People?

Yeah, sorry, I got nothing on any of those. The only reason I know Hitchhiker's Guide is that I found a copy of it in the dark snowglobe world. But it's cool, I'm slowly picking up a lot of alt-Earth stuff.
