I am saying this now because there is a chance that I will forget when I am drunk, but we could race one another.

She's learning, I think. She has already been in my business, much like she is at home.

I feel safe with you. Perhaps that is part of the issue. My home is awful, and it is not here. And so I would rather hide the horrors of it, some of it of my own making, because I do not want to ruin the safety I have with you. It is not a good plan, I see that now, but perhaps the reason for it before all of this.

And some of the unflattering bits are extremely unflattering. I used to have long hair, past my shoulders.

I would never say that on his birthday. And on me, it was unflattering on me. I'm certain there are other people who can pull it off swimmingly, but I was not born with the genetics to do so.

You know that if it went the other way and you were kidnapped to hell, I would have come after you. Stars blazing, very terrifying. There would be no corner of that place that I would not look to find you.

And, well. That might be it. You are already aware of the other miserable bits: the childhood assassins, the Vultures, my half-brother, my father, the arranged marriage, the torture, and now the long hair. But if anything occurs to me, you will be the first one to know.

That's always how I've preferred to do things too. Keep expectations low, come in and knock their blocks off.

He was an odd duck and dedicated and all that. A good friend and a good man to have around when things went sour. I think I just liked the idea of being the mistake he couldn't resist making? Turns out he could resist, and did, so the joke was on me! Feels like a lifetime ago now.
