The Time Rift

As of right now (July 18th, 2022), the game is on freeze for a moment. You are all great players, but I am having some trouble on a modding end with the concept and realize that some players might be having trouble finding a way to play in this world as well.

So, time to brainstorm. I have a couple of ideas of what to do, but I want to hear from you all. Would you be terribly upset if the game shut down and started fresh? Does anyone have another idea? The French Revolution plot had some backbone, but I noticed no one had any initial posts on it other than my guys and I realized that maybe it was too vague?

On Thursday (July 14th), the residents of the Void will wake up to discover that the boundaries of their neighborhood are no longer there- in fact, their neighborhood will extend into the not-so-clean streets of <18th-century Paris, France.

They will discover that when they step through the boundary, their clothing changes to match the time period and setting, and turning to look at Hudol Street, they will see that it resembles any other random neighborhood in this setting.

Feel free to explore the sights and sounds of Revolutionary France. You are welcome to go on adventures (or misadventures), just please remember to stay out of trouble.

It's Foster again! Meet Nancy Wheeler, teenage reporter and survivor of way too much B.S. She comes from 1986, and the end of Stranger Things Season 4. She might or might not have a little bit of trauma regarding being tossed into strange new dimensions, but I promise she'll be fine eventually.

Say hello to BEN SOLO. He’s the son of Han Solo and Leia Organa, a powerful force user and a former sith. He’s here from the end of The Rise of Skywalker, after he’s turned back to the light and sacrificed his life for Rey’s, so he’s confused and not exactly happy to be here in this situation. He’s going to keep to himself/Rey for a bit while he gets his bearings, so he won’t be hella active on the network right away.

He WILL be relieved to find that no one except for Rey here knows who he is or what he’s done. And super confused to find a “sister” from another timeline, because whaaaat. I am game for logs of him running into people for forced 1-on-1 interaction, though, and he’ll introduce himself on the network, too, once he’d had a few days to adjust.

He is a brand new muse for me. MY KINGDOM FOR MORE STAR WARS PLEASE OK.

Hey all.

Feels like I just did one of these but my cast has doubled in size since then. Peter’s been thrown into the mix already but one got lost in the shuffle so I wanted to take a second to introduce Scott Summers, also known as Cyclops. 616, Post-Schism, True Blue Cyke. The under-appreciated leader of the X-Men. We’ll just say he’s been reclusively dealing with shell shock from everything, staying in his room and playing Chess.

One more thing! My main man has a film coming out and we are so excited. In that spirit, I wanted to address mightythor’s canon point. Currently he’s listed as Post-Endgame, and it has always been my headcanon that at some point after that film Thor lost his blip weight. Now that that’s been all but confirmed by Love and Thunder promotional photography and footage, and with the film being released tonight, I wanted to state my intention to incorporate Thor’s transition “from DadBod to GodBod” as it is depicted on film. He will not be aware of Jane Foster’s acquisition of Mjölnir. This should not require any in-character adjustments, as I’ve refrained from having Thor speak in detail on it and will continue to do to so as to avoid spoiling the film (which I still have yet to see, as of writing this.) Just wanted to acknowledge all of this, as well as open the floor if there are any objections. Thank you!

As of July 5th, things began to return to normal in the Void. Color slowly returned, and people woke up with their normal personalities back. Feel free to have your character comment or react accordingly.

Hello All,

Foster here with my 4th one (finally). Just in time for the revolution, I give you Enjolras. I pulled him out of a cross between the musical and the book, but know he's a pretty serious Frenchman who is going to be very, very confused about technology, magic, and everything in between.

He won't burst into song outside of our current plot, but he will have a LOT to say about how things are run. Don't mind the brooding face, he can be a very good guy when you get to know him (unless you don't agree with him, then he can be a dick). Enjoy!

July 4th: On July 4th, Natasha Romanoff is throwing a party for Steve Rogers on the rooftop of the Enclave. Everyone is invited to have fun and relax. Current 50's tropes will still be in effect! A post for the party will be going p soon.

July 5th: The morning after the party, things will have returned to normal except for a new suburban neighborhood that will have sprung up at the end of the street. The neighborhood will have fully-furnished houses for residents of the Void to move into if they so choose. They can also choose to stay in the Enclave if they wish.

July 9th: Viva la Revolution!</v> The new July plot will start. Details will come on the 5th but be prepared for the Void to be set in 18th century France for the rest of the month.

Surprise, Nat & Steve, it’s a boy!

This is James Rogers, from Marvel’s Next Avengers: Heroes of Tomorrow. James comes from a post apocalyptic timeline where the Avengers lose against Ultron, most of them die and their kids - yep they have kids in this timeline - are taken by Tony Stark to his arctic fortress where he raises them in relative solitude and trains them to one day face and defeat Ultron.

Spoiler alert: James messed up, Ultron found them and chaos and I ensued. The kids eventually beat Ultron (with some help!) and they’ve been traveling the world since, fighting the remaining bits and trying to help rebuild things in general. James will be glad to see Torunn but he will have mixed feelings about being here. He’ll like a chance to get to know these versions of his parents, but he also feels the responsibility to be back home doing that hero shit.

This is Em finally getting around to bringing in a second.

This here is Grantaire from Les Miserables. Whilst I use movie-face Grantaire and a few points of reference, I take a lot of his personality and history from the book, because the brick is one great hulking point of reference. Thanks, Victor Hugo.

Things to know about this French guy:

- He's from 1832 so this is going to be quite the head fuck
- He's a bit of a flirt, mostly because he's usually ninety percent of the way to drunk
- He will spend half his time getting lost in lengthy rants and rambles about whatever subject comes to mind. If you agree with him he'll then probably argue the other side just to be contrary, because he doesn't really care
- He's impossibly cynical, with only a few thing he can truly say he believes in
- He's a bit of a contradiction because despite all the cynicism, he sees beauty everywhere and spends his time painting and sketching it.

Despite all that I promise he's not all bad? LOL

Hello and good morning to all of you fine folk! Well...it might be more like close to afternoon for some of you but for those of us who live in the past, it is morning and now that I'm not dealing with a seriously rude headache I can get this intro up!

Hi. I'm Nic. I'm bringing to the mix the lovely Gwen Stacy from The Amazing Spider-Man films and yes, she died, yes, it was a thing, and now surprise! She's here! I know there's a whole plot going on right now (and oh my goodness, am I absolutely here for this stuff because random plots are the panfandom thing I've missed the most) so I'll see if not only is she a fresh arrival but possibly in one of these crazy roles people are playing because I can't resist. But that'll be after much needed caffeine and some thinky thoughts.

Anyway, this is the first time I'm playing Gwen so be gentle or you know, don't. Make me work for it. Give me a run for my money. But I'm excited to be able to get her into the mix and interacting with everyone and seeing what we can cook up!

this is w, finally bringing in michelle "mj" jones, as previously discussed with folks in the discord server as well as with peter's writer outside of chat.

this michelle is pulled from before no way home, so unfortunately she hasn't met the other peters nor does she know about the multiverse, but i'm sure this smartypants has her interests and theories.

i have a headcanon about michelle being the biological daughter of nick fury, but i don't want to incorporate that unless other people are cool with it. i'm not absolutely married to the idea. but so far, i don't think we've seen anything in mcu that necessarily disputes that possibility, as far as i can recall. happy to entertain opinions from either side, if anyone feels strongly about it! feel free to comment here or hit me up via my screened contact post. i generally do best with commenting via contact posts rather than chat.

BJ’s back for seconds. This time I’m bringing MCU’s Killmonger. As much as I loved his What If? arc, I’m pulling him from the film to retain the bigger events from the main timeline. Like your favorite reality television personality, he’s not here to make friends. But like your favorite journal-based roleplayer, I’m here to write stories. Let’s work some shit out!

Heeey, Rifties.

Meet Rose Hathaway.

Rose is a dhampir from the Vampire Academy books, which means she is part human and part mortal vampire. She does not have fangs, not does she drink blood, but she IS preternaturally stronger and hardier. She's a natural athlete and has about two decades of combat training - specifically in how to kill immortal vampires from her world, but also just melee combat in general.

Rose is snarky and sarcastic. She's smarter than most people would suspect, including herself. Dhampir in her world are essentially canon fodder soldiers, so she'll probably get along well with other soldier/spy types.

Rose comes from an AU timeline, which is only really relevant if you know the VA series of want to bring her a castmate (particularly from Last Sacrifice of later), but you can read more about that and her in general in her app.

She's going to be a little paranoid and mistrustful, especially at first, but I am looking forward to establishing some friendships, etc!

Since it's been a while since I've heard from some peeps, I figured I would post a check-in. This is officially the spot to just say 'here' and let me know you're still playing. That way, we can clear the cast list of anyone who might have ghosted. :-)

No activity is required, I just want to make sure you're still interested in the game!

In the month of June, a sense of anxiety will sweep over Wizarding Cardiff. Change is coming, sooner rather than later now.

It starts when the Doctors detect a sort of rippling through the atmosphere. What had been only occasional before will become more pronounced. Throughout the month, characters may experience time warps. They might find themselves walking down a street and then be in the same place, but 20 years in the future or 300 years in the past. The effects will only last a few moments, but it will be jarring, to say the least.

Meanwhile, anyone with magical abilities will start to sense their powers growing weaker. As if they are being drained. This effect will not be permanent.

Anyone with psychic abilities will also sense this foreboding worldwide. AS if all of humanity is on edge.

And then...




Chaos. Destruction. The End of Days. Something begins to tear at the fabric of space and time. Something powerful. Greater than any army anyone has ever faced before. It will be only with the people of the city uniting that they will be able to hold back the force long enough to save what they can of Wizarding Cardiff.

Mod Notes: This will be a world-shifting event. By July, what is left of Cardiff will be existing in a vacuum in time and space. This will be a temporary solution to the bigger problem our characters face, but the isolated city will remain the setting for a time to allow players a chance to settle in. New characters will, of course, be welcome to continue to come through the rift (which will stay open through ALL of this).

Below is a great place to ask questions about this event. We will be modifying the FAQ and game plot afterward to reflect these changes.

As a note, some of the doorways that opened before might be altered a little. We will still have versions of the doors available but with alternative surprises (because surprises are fun).

Please feel free to provide suggestions and feedback! That's how we build community and make this an all inclusive game.

When it rains, it pours. Next week is extended registration at my job, which means I will be working 8-7 most nights. On top of that, my apartment complex is doing a cleanliness inspection of units in my building next Friday so I need to prepare for that. My mom and sister also just tested positive for COVID. Needless to say my focus isn't great. I am not disappearing and, heck, if registration isn't that bad, I will likely still be around during the day, but this is just a heads up.
