the trial takers.

Thirteen people, known as The Trial Takers, who figure out how to best their fairy hosts and save one of the abducted. The number of the trial taker corresponds to the person they saved. While there is only one trial taker per number, they can have help or witnesses.

1. Must tell someone an unspoken secret - Tyler Lockwood
2. Must solve a riddle - Tony Stark MCU
3. Must best a fairy at a skill - Lillie
4. Must win a wager - Kady Orloff-Diaz
5. Must confess your romantic interest in someone - Holland Vosijk
6. Must face a dark fear - Ianto Jones
7. Must apologize sincerely for a past wrong - Rey
8. Must sacrifice a year and a day (and age slightly) - Gansey
9. Must catch a snitch without the use of a broom - Quentin Coldwater
10. Must offer to sincerely take the place of one of the abducted***will find out after the offer that they won’t actually switch places and both will go free - Marceline Abadeer
11. Must sacrifice an important memory - Loki (616)
12. Must correctly guess which of the duplicates is the abducted and choose - Kurama
13. Must give three drops of blood to the Unseelie King (that probably won’t come back to haunt you, right?) - Ron Weasley

The Trial Takers won't know until they're Trial Takers until they arrive. You didn't think the faeries would let you know ahead of time, did you? You wouldn't show up if you knew. A servant will bow before you with a silver platter with a name card on it. Inside, you will find a vague description of the above task and an Abducted person's name. For example, "Make me an offer" for the sacrifice yourself to take someone's place. Or "Let's make a bet" for winning a wager. That kind of thing. The goal is the safe return of the Abducted, but also kind of drag it out for the funsies. You got about 6 hours so have some fun with it. Fairies will be out in full force to mess that up.

Holland received his card and spent at least a half hour debating over it. But eventually (at whatever point he's supposed to go) he will step up and confess to having a romantic interest in Marina Andrieski. He will look as though he doesn't care at all, however. Except for his one green eye, which gives away that he is absolutely furious.

But because Kell won't have been released yet (I'm just assuming this bc otherwise he probably wouldn't do it), he won't try to do anything. As soon as he's done he'll disappear into the crowd and take off his mask as soon as he's sure all the Abducted are safe. If you try to talk to him after he'll be very curt and asshole-y at you.

Quentin will spend a good portion trying to figure out what he's meant to do. Liiiike it will probably make sense when he gets there and he sees the snitch. He will attempt magic at first, but when that doesn't work even in the slightest, he's going to have to try to figure out different things. By the end of the time, he'll catch the snitch, but come out of it with a twisted ankle and plenty bruises.

And then once like...he realizes he set Leia free, he'll be really awkward about it. Heeeeeeyyyy....sorry about that. He'll probably be like, "Oh. Um. Sorry...I saved you??? I mean, no...I'm not, but uhhhh....cool cool cool. I have to...Julia...okay. Bye."

Oh yeah, you guys. Marcy is feeling pretty good about this. As soon as she gets a silver tray with a little note on this, well obviously these fairies didn't know what they were getting themselves into when they picked MARCELINE THE VAMPIRE QUEEN to mess with.

Except it isn't for Ronan. Okay, no big deal. She'll save this Maya chick instead. It's just the trial confuses her: Make them an offer? Her face fell when reading the note. "What??"

So for the first part of her trial she's going to float around wondering who the heck she's supposed to make an offer to.

TO BE CONTINUED... (Feel free to reply if someone tries to help or distract her.)

In another time, this look of Emma's was normal for her. She was comfortable. She could do whatever she want, except shut the demon up. It took the form of Gold — Rumpelstiltskin — and as soon as she arrived, out of the corner of her eye, she could swear she saw him, sitting there, ready to start taunting her to use Dark Magic.

She wasn't going to. Her days of being the Dark One were over.

Weren't they?

She'd sacrificed Hook back home to get rid of the Dark One. In this journey, Henry have fixed that in the Storybrooke she'd created. He'd realized what was going on and took that away, she thought. Was it just hidden there all this time? Emma wrung her hands together, studying the crowd and catching sight of Marceline floating by.

Emma reached out before realizing that her hands were sparking, as if there was electricity running between her fingers. No one else seemed to notice. She refused to touch Marcy.

"Marceline. You have a card."

"Woah. Hey, Emma. I almost didn't recognize you." It's not how she's used to seeing Henry's mom, her friend. The hair, the bright red lipstick, the black dress. It doesn't occur to Marcy that the dramatic style came from somewhere. But Marcy gives a big shark-toothed smile because it does look pretty cool.

Where as Marcy is in strange shoulder pads, a mask that isn't unlike one of the demon forms she sometimes takes, and her mid section is bound up so tightly only the undead would put on a dress like that when breathing isn't an issue. Marcy isn't able to to shapeshift though. It just remains uncomfortable.

"Yeah, some fairy just handed me this card. Now I gottah figure out who this is and who I gottah talk to. You doing anything?" Even in the middle of an Enchanted Fairy Ball, Marceline was all very casual about it. Like this was somehow normal. And for her, it kinda was. She looked a little bored.

Ianto's card says "learn from the past" which seems super weird but hey, at least he knows he's supposed to be saving Anakin, right? He'll decide to try to find him while he's figuring out wtf the card means and then realises that there's definitely more than one of them out there. Damn. Oh... and some of them are all cybernetic and shit. Soon he'll notice that anyone who takes a drink/food from those ones begins to become cybernetic themselves, slowly turning into full on Cybermen seemingly without noticing. Only once a few of them have been completely transformed will they appear to activate and start moving in on him.

Despite assuming that the fairies are messing with him he's going to spend the time before that getting increasingly stressed and anxious about the whole thing. Once they start acting threateningly he'll be telling himself that those ones in particular are just fairies using glamours. LUCKY HE HAS THESE IRON BULLETS RIGHT?

Only.

You know.

That doesn't really make sense with the card and all. What, he's supposed to shoot the Cybermen because he kept Lisa alive last time? But these ones don't look human at all. It's not like shooting them would be hard, emotionally speaking. Not exactly a trial. And... sometimes when he looks one way it's almost like the ones in his peripheral vision... aren't really Cybermen anymore. Like actually they could be people. But fairy magic's better than that, right? He read a lot of stuff about glamours on the internet and there was plenty of stories about visible animal body parts but not really anything that matches this niggling sense that this isn't right somehow. Like maybe if he did shoot he'd find out afterwards that it was one of the Displaced.

Basically he's going to end up completely second guessing what's real or not and just about going into a full on panic attack. It's only when he manages to calm himself enough to actively decide to stand his ground that everything turns back to normal and presumably Anakin is freed.

Ianto can expect a LOT of gratitude from Anakin when he's freed, but it's very shaken up gratitude. How appropriate that Ianto had to "learn from the past" while Anakin was mixed up with his future! When they aren't fresh from the ball, Anakin would be curious to know what Ianto had to do, but he's not in a hurry himself.

Both Ron and Tony tried to argue with the servant who presented their cards, as the name of the abducted person is not the name of their person.

Tony was impatient with the disjointed delivery of the riddle he was meant to solve and spent the intervening time figuring out who Julia's task taker was and trying to help him find the real Julia. When Lando is freed, Tony shakes his hand, promises him a drink later, then sets off to find Julia.

Ron isn't even hesitant about giving a drop of blood. It's only after he does so that he starts to have second thoughts, but there's nothing for it. He did what he had to, just like the person who was freeing Hermione.

Alright, Mr. Stark! Tony! Sir! Peter Parker is here to help. Looks like he already rescued someone. Peter had a difficult time recognizing him at first because of all the wigs and the masks. Okay, good. Right. They just have to help rescue a few more people. Just tell him what to do! Peter is here and eager to help! Yes, sir!

Tony is unamused by this whole situation. He just wants to their people and then get out. He's annoyed, though not at all surprised when Peter approaches him. "You sure do have a knack for turning up in places you don't belong, kid. Go home."

Both Tiny and Keith would've tried to help with Julia or well helping in general in Tiny's case.

And man, if Ben or any of the dopplegangers (if they were truly playing the part) were near Ron when he was giving the blood, he would've tried to stop him/talk him out of it. D:

Lillie for Penny - Pt 1.
[info]getinthebag
2018-09-15 07:19 am UTC (link)
OOC Note: (If anyone wants to help Lillie on this, feel free to tag in at whatever point)

Lillie received a card that simply said "Beat me." She read it and folded it back in her gloved hand and gave a small, resolute nod and looked back to the servant.

"Who sent the note?" She asked, though the servant didn't give a verbal response. She followed their gaze up to an elevated dais several floors above the dance floor where multiple fairies were reclining. It was a miniscule movement and one hard to clearly tell given they both wore masks, but Lillie was pretty sure they locked eyes, and under normal rules of fairy (pokemon) battle, that meant the fight was accepted. In actuality, she probably could have beaten any fairy, but RPG logic

Lillie mentally tried to work out a way up to the dais two floors up, though some of it was hidden by a wall, she figured it would be okay if she kept against the wall. Then, she she across the room to try and find an entrance to the stairs.

Where a fairy blocked her way.

COMMENCE SIDE QUEST 1: change the music to something the fairy guard likes to access floor 2!

Lillie managed to change the music so the fairy guard lets her through the door and up the first set of stairs.

Unfortunately the second floor is a mirrored maze. So much for the idea of sticking to the wall to find the door on the third floor out to the dais. Lillie will try for a while, and get kind of lost before winding up at the beginning again about half an hour later.

Lillie will sit down on the ground for a while and talk this through with Clefairy and totally not cry because she's her Z-powered best and can do this!

Kurama attends in his youko form. He smiles, charms, and generally gets along with the Fae as though born to it. When they present him with the card, he graciously bows his head and moves to observe. There's a fair bit of flattery for their hosts (some of it genuine, in that Kurama can admire from a professional standpoint their games), though his eyes are hard as he watches the performance.t

It doesn't take long for Kurama to notice that only one of the Julias is doing anything that might make her hands bleed. He waits to point her out, only because he recognizes that to identify her too soon will make their hosts angry.

Rey had expectations for how this evening might go. After a day's wait, and increasing determination that the community would pull together to do their part to free everyone, she could honestly say that the trial hadn't been part of her expectations for her part. She knew there were to be thirteen trials for the thirteen souls. The invitation was clear. Yet, she hadn't imagined herself being approached by a servant with a tray and offering her a card.

"It's time to make amends."

And underneath the trial, listed in a delicate script, was the name of a woman Rey did not know. That was no matter. She had been adamant that they were to rescue them all, but her intent had been to try to locate Leia. It was Leia who was constantly taken, regardless of world, and it was Leia that Rey had a driving need to find. And then she had intended to turn her attention to trying to help with the others.

Intention was thrown out the window and there was a perplexed look upon her face as she turned the card over in her hands. Why couldn't this have gone the way she had expected? Rescue by force and not riddle?

Luke had been hounded and harassed by the duplicates of his father and sister. While he appeared to stand strong, he was also eager for the excuse to leave, Luke's metallic prosthetic seemed to be malfunctioning in the shape of a fist.

"Rey," Luke said by way of greeting. It was both an announcement and a question, though Luke wasn't the kind of person to ask what was wrong. Not anymore. He stood by her and watched the rest of the dance floor carefully, to avoid the duplicates that might try to stop her from successfully completing her trial.

At some point in the evening, Rey probably heard Tyler going around asking people who was suppose to rescue Gabby. He sounded desperate and panicky, like he was about to lose his whole world.

Tyler spent a fair portion of his evening trying to find Gabby and trying to assist in saving her, but as the hours dragged on, he realized he couldn't be completely terrible and ignore the guy he was charged with trying to save.

So, eventually, he found Cable and did his part.
