There's an explosion as a portal opens. Wild elemental energy whips through, followed by the flying (albiet not willingly) forms of four people, three girls and a boy all about college aged, who all land in a heap not far from the sign. The portal closes behind them.
They're strange looking, dressed like normal college students, but those are some damn weird dye jobs they got. The boy, with grass green hair, is the first to wake up and lift his head, looking around. If anyone's got an eye for details, they'll notice his eyes match his hair.

Someone had pushed a flowercart into the Nexus, under the Sign. A cheerful banner proclaims "Happy Valentines' Day!" with other signs saying "Sweets for your Sweetheart" and "Flowers for your Flower" . Buckets of water stand inside the cart, filled to the brim with roses of various colors. On either side stand stacks of chocolate boxes and racks of bags of conversation hearts. The entire thing is done up with more pink and hearts than a little girl's bedroom. There's no attendant in site, nor are prices marked.
[OOC: LOL Instructions: The roses' thorns are extra in-the-way and able to pierce through anything, and one prick (stop snickering) will cast a spell of altered emotion on the holder. Your choice who it affects: first person seen, changing the character's strongest relationship... whatever seems like a good idea. Here's how the flower colors match up:
[Red: love
White: reverence/loyalty
Yellow: friendship
Pink: admiration
Orange: passion/lust
Lilac: infatuation

Paul usually sat in the gardens of the Elric Apartments with his Bible, studying its words, but today, he was at the sign. And he was pacing a big while he reads, fingering his rosary like worry beads. "Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends," he finally said. "John, fifteen, thirteen."
He sighed, closing the book, careful of a piece of paper that tried to flutter out from somewhere in the early Old Testament. "These are noble words to live by, but terribly frightening. There are terrible things going on in my homeland right now, and I am in a unique position to try to help before it gets worse. But I have been advised to stay here for my own safety. What would you do in my position?" |

She flops into a Nexus Chair and lolls her head back, looking exhausted. Finally, she lifts her head and looks around. "How do you convince someone you used to be compatible with that you're not anymore?" |

Some of the residents at ![[info]](https://www.insanejournal.com/img/community.gif) elric_apts might recognize the young woman at the sign. Anna, the adopted sister of ![[info]](https://www.insanejournal.com/img/userinfo.gif) gatemaster, had made herself comfortable in a fold-out chair, with a large plastic cauldron full of a wide variety of candy.
Twix, Snickers, Hersheys, M&Ms, Jolly Rancher hard candies, the list goes on.
"It's getting to be that time of year again," Anna said, "at least on Earth. Anyone want some Halloween candy?"

(Yes, the candy is LOL-candy. If a character eats it, s/he will become a ghost for a length of time determined by the player, not less than six hours, and not more than four days. During this time, the character will be invisible and intangible, but will be able to speak normally, as s/he will not quite be a "real ghost". The only other characters who will be able to see the ghosted characters are as follows:
1) real ghosts
2) loop_me_in
3) other 'fake ghost' characters
4) psychics - both the mystic kind and the telepath kind.
5) anyone the character is soulbound to, provided the character is soulbound in the first place |

There is an Alphonse in the Nexus. You don't usually see one of those around. He's reading in one of the random loveseats scattered around the Nexus; taking up most of the space on said seating, much like his brother would. His backpack is on the floor by the chair.
After awhile, he finally looks up. "There's a question that's been bugging me for a bit. You know how we usually get taught that saying things to make ourselves look or sound good is something we shouldn't do when we're kids because it's supposed to be a bad thing to do, right? But later on in life, that's basically what we're supposed to do during job interviews and various other situations. Where's the logic in that?"
