Roy had never been here before! This place was very interesting, and seemed like the sort of crazy-ass place his son would run off to to hide in, so he decided to ask around.

Especially with that godawful blinking light inviting him to ask a question. Okay then! "I'm looking for someone," he started. "He's about six-four, broad shouldered, doesn't speak much. He used to be famous, but I don't know what he might've done to himself to make himself less recognizable. We've searched everywhere in Amestris, but he hasn't turned up there. I thought maybe he skipped the border into Drachma, perhaps, but this place seems just as likely, and the door is near somewhere he might've discovered it."

"Ask a question..." Akane could be seen hovering on a broom (yes a broom and in full witches ceremonial garb no less) in front of the flashing, neon sign. There was a look of pure concentration on her face as she divided her attention between the statement and flying, because the jerking broom seemed to have a will of its own, "who am I supposed to ask a question to? Oh...well that was a question wa-oooh!"

The broom dropped in altitude forcing Akane to concentrate more on flying than on the sign. Once she righted herself again and stabilized the broom she descended slowly to the earth, "I'm usually pretty good at this sort of thing, but flying is just...oh..." Akane fixed her gaze back on the sign again, a good question having come to her this time, "alright! Say you're the kind of person that things just come naturally to, certain tasks or in this case magic though you don't have to use magic...so say these tasks are normally easy for you. What would you do if found out you had trouble with a certain element of that task? I guess, in my case magic comes pretty naturally to me, but I have trouble with flight spells."

She glanced around, not really expecting an answer to this question and she felt kind of silly asking it to herself.

Normally people just walk into the Nexus. It's not every day that a large, flying beast lands there. But it seems to be domesticated, if the saddle on its back is any indication. A young boy jumps off, uncaring about the fact his mount was easily three times his height. A small, chittering winged lemur landed on his shoulder.

The boy looked around, surveying the Nexus. "This place hasn't changed much, has it? I wonder if anyone remembers me?" He paused on the sign. "Well, I guess I should ask a real question. How long is it after a war for things to heal?"

Aang sat down, waiting to see what would happen.

Someone had pushed a flowercart into the Nexus, under the Sign. A cheerful banner proclaims "Happy Valentines' Day!" with other signs saying "Sweets for your Sweetheart" and "Flowers for your Flower" . Buckets of water stand inside the cart, filled to the brim with roses of various colors. On either side stand stacks of chocolate boxes and racks of bags of conversation hearts. The entire thing is done up with more pink and hearts than a little girl's bedroom. There's no attendant in site, nor are prices marked.

[OOC: LOL Instructions: The roses' thorns are extra in-the-way and able to pierce through anything, and one prick (stop snickering) will cast a spell of altered emotion on the holder. Your choice who it affects: first person seen, changing the character's strongest relationship... whatever seems like a good idea. Here's how the flower colors match up:

[
Red: love
White: reverence/loyalty
Yellow: friendship
Pink: admiration
Orange: passion/lust
Lilac: infatuation

[In departure from Nexus tradition, the candy is safe, free and utterly delicious. If you want to risk eating food lying around in the Nexus, that is.

Ken has appeared in the Nexus once before, but only briefly. He and Wormmon study the sign, before Ken speaks up.

"What anniversaries do you remember?"

Wormmon looks at him, antennae dropping. "You don't have to ask such a depressing question, Ken."

"They could be happy ones too. Or ones that are both happy and sad."

Roy wanders into the nexus, blatantly confused. "Damn. I thought this was somewhere else..." He's kind of angry about it, but when he notices the question thing, he shrugs.

"Alright...uh, should I biased on my friend's split personalities?" Because seriously, it's been bugging him.

There's a young man standing in front of the sign, looking utterly baffled. He has a streak of dirt on one cheek, presumably from the large potted plant sitting on the ground in front of him.

"What..." Ken blinks up at the sign, at the people around him. When the hell did this get in their storeroom? Or maybe he should be wondering when the hell Youji managed to spike his water without him noticing, because obviously he was hallucinating. That was the only rational explanation for this shit. He glanced down at the plant, as if considering the hallucinogenic properties of the average household palm plant.

"Uh. So I have to ask a question?" Well fine then, he'd just ask the most pressing one that came to mind.

"Which way's Tokyo?"

Here is a young woman who has been wandering up and down streets for some time now. She is doing her best to appear inconspicuous and nonchalant, with limited success. It probably does not help that she is exuding nervousness and paranoia; head low, hat pulled down, eyes darting back and forth behind the glasses that she doesn't actually need.

When the sign catches her eye, she stares for a long moment, trying to figure out what it's advertising. Detergent, maybe? Insurance? Religion? All that viral marketing stuff is lost on her, she supposes.

There is a question that nags at the back of her mind, the same one she asks herself every morning, but she doesn't see any point in saying it out loud. Instead, she asks: "What are you selling?"

Nexus, meet Georgia. George, meet the Nexus. [Jul. 6th, 2010|10:37 pm]

A woman is staggering into the Nexus. It looks like she might have been attending something well to-do, as she is wearing an elegant sheath dress and pantyhose. On the other hand, the sunglasses kind of contrast with the black-tie nature of her clothing, and her hair is down and she's missing her shoes.

She looks around. For those residents of the Nexus that notice such things, her entire body is wary, tense, as if she's expecting something to jump out at her. Though you can't see her eyes behind her shades, her head darts back and forth. She catches the sign, then looks away, wincing. "Jesus Christ, I can see that through my glasses."

"I suppose 'is this the afterlife's waiting room?' is too obvious a question, huh?" She takes a seat in one of the Nexus Couches, leaning forward as if interested in what you have to say. Her hand goes for something that she is apparently not carrying, then she frowns. "Fine. I'll open things up with a real question. What ideals do you think are important enough to die for?"

"Oh, my, this is certainly an interesting place." The woman standing there was tall, slender, and graceful, with dark hair and eyes. She held herself in a poise that suggested aristocratic breeding and schooling, and her speech was excellent, if harboring a somewhat strange accent.

"Ask a question?" She considered the sign and smiled. "Are there any parents here? How do you cope with having a child with... shall we say, special needs, when you are living in the public eye?"

Oh hey, new person in the Nexus. Again. Very new, by the looks of the portal that has just closed behind him. Hit by the lights and sounds in the Nexus (really, that sign is hazardous to people's health and HERE'S THE PROOF,) he instantly falls to crouch on the ground, clutching at his head and moaning in pain.

Sensory overload. Not fun.

His hair is long, tangled and matted--a dark chocolate brown that hangs over his face--and his clothing is dirty and ratty--a sweater with a tear in the sleeve at the shoulder, and pants that hang far too loosely on his bony hips. He's also wearing a collar cinched around his neck, a contraption of thick leather and brushed metal that wouldn't have looked out of place on a dog, and he's acting like one that's been kicked to go along with.

"C-can someone turn that off?"

A new person in the Nexus isn't terribly unusual. Nothing is, really. This one is a bit small, maybe a couple of inches above five feet, and humanoid, and probably new, considering the way he stops to examine everything.

On the other hand, this one might be stranger than most. For one, what might at first seem to be hair covering his head and patches on his gray body, is moving independent of any breezes. Though his head-tentacles partially obscure most of his face, looking closely shows he lacks eyes, ears and nose, and seems to have a hole in his throat, surrounded by more tentacles, that looks like it should be there. He's wearing a pair of shorts, leaving most of his skin bare.

"I'm supposed to ask a question here, right?" His voice was a human-sounding tenor. "This one is in two parts. For those of you who aren't human, what are your impressions of humans?

"For those of you who are humans... I've noticed that one thing that is important to humans is the lack of belief in probability. Or... if you were told there was some flaw in you that meant you and your descendants had a one in a million chance of surviving the ten or so generations, and that the only way to prevent that meant some radical changes in your descendants. If you were told that, what would your take on it be -- which would you choose, and do you think there should be a choice, even knowing it was likely to doom the population who chose one way?"

For Sale [Aug. 5th, 2009|09:33 pm]

There is a horse and small cart in the Nexus. The horse is a rather placid mare, whose halter has been tied to a nearby post and was enjoying some feed left out for her. The cart had been unharnessed from the horse, and a young woman, in her early twenties and dressed in a dress that makes her look like an extra in 'Little House on the Prairie', sat in it with a baby in her lap. In front of her was a selection of packets and jars, as well as bundles of dried and fresh herbs. A sign attached to the cart said "Fresh Herbs and Medicines: Hard Currency and Barter Accepted".

"So this was the place Dag was telling me about. It doesn't look that different yet, except for the sign. I wonder how they make the sign glow like that."

(OOC: Everything's safe. Most of the medicines are for OTC type complaints (painkiller, anti-nausea, upset stomach, etc.). Someone with any sort of extra senses might catch the hint of magic, and a herbalist using them might notice that the herbs are unusually potent and regular in active ingredient content and the side effects less severe.)

Ianto wanders into the nexus. He's dressed in his customary suit and tie, clearly coming to the Nexus during a bit of downtime.

"What's the best way to tell your co-workers that the company car got stolen while you had it?" he asks after a moment, looking annoyed and upset. There's a long pause, before he adds to the question. "Labels for a relationship, are they a good or bad thing to have?"

"You were searching for a soul, tearing yourself apart just to become whole..." [Jul. 23rd, 2009|08:28 pm]

[Current Music |Soul Searching - Chantal Kreviazuk]

It had been a while since Riza had gone around the obnoxious sign, much less to ask anything of her own. But it was the best and quickest way she could think to accomplish what she needed to find out.

"I'm wondering if there's anyone here who is familiar and experienced with magic that can relate to a person's soul, or soul energy, or anything along those lines," she said, "and barring that, does anyone know how I could get in touch with Filia Ul Copt? A woman who looks about my age, maybe a little younger, with very long blonde hair, blue eyes, and pointed ears?"
