I must admit I am not as shocked and confused as I ought to have been, seeing as how somehow the entire manor has relocated overnight to the shore. Does this, perchance, mean that we're growing accustomed to the machinations of Lady Whistledown?

Thank you to everyone who helped make my eighteenth birthday so very special this past Saturday. It is a day I will not forget for years to come.

Lest someone think otherwise, I am not the EB of note in Ms. Whistledown's writings this week. For one, I am not new, I am simply not one to make myself the center of attention. For another, I was, in fact, in attendance at the ball.

However, to my fellow EB, having missed a couple of balls myself, I think we might enjoy each other's companionship in such an environment such as this.

Knowing well that she does not wish to be mentioned in such communiques, I am writing this here with full knowledge and agreement of Miss Bennet.

Prior to Saturday evening's ball, we had not made any plans to dance together in excess. Indeed, though I did pen my own name to Miss Bennet's dance card for the first two turns of the evening, I did not claim anything more than that. I was even witness to Mr Henry Crawford claiming a turn of his own, but by the time music had begun and couples taken their places, we once more found ourselves across from one another, quite without intending to be.

In one round, Miss Bennet and I both attempted to abstain from the dancing entirely, with each of us taking up separate places at the refreshment table. But, again, the same outcome was unintentionally achieved.

While this was most assuredly an unkind trick from our Hostess, I implore you all not to allow such events to color the reputation of Miss Bennet, who has certainly done nothing to earn any ill judgment.

For your consideration -

If the purpose of our time here at Summerview Park is to arrange matches resulting in marriages, I fail to see any just cause for the presence of a scandal sheet.

I wish to offer my sincerest apologies to Mr Tomley- and anyone else for whom I may have caused offense- with my disturbance during yesterday morning's church services.

I found myself wholly unable to speak for the remainder of the day, no matter how I tried. My voice is quite fine today, without a hint of rasp or injury. More strangeness, as Mr Crawford discovered most recently, it seems.
