I know that caricatures are meant to be exaggerations, but did they really have to make my forehead quite so large and my chin so pronounced? Every other drawing that I saw looked perfectly fine!

It feels incredibly telling - of both the world and society we have created - that even when we are all visited by ghosts, none seem keen to talk on the matter.

Since I've seen others deny the information found in the most recent edition of Whistledown, I suppose I ought to confirm the information about myself and Mister Bridgerton. It is true that Benedict Mister Bridgerton has asked me to marry him. It is also true that I have accepted his proposal.

I admit that I'm quite overwhelmed by the entire ordeal.

I am not one to normally use these journals as I prefer more private correspondence. But I feel I must address the recent gossip from our hostess.

It is, without a shadow of a doubt, completely untrue that myself and Miss Woodhouse are engaged. I wish everyone to know that while myself and Miss Woodhouse share an appreciation for music and recently I helped her practices several pieces that I believe she was wishing to perform for dear friend, there has never been a moment when we spoke privately or have had any intentions in that way.

I feel that our hostess has distressed many people by this erroneous mention in her gossip. I would normally just send a note to those most affected but I wish to most ardently explain my displeasure at this false rumor.

I do not wish to display myself in front of the world, I am a friendly person but not one to share too much with those I am not well acquainted. I apologize to anyone who also has been affected by this, but while not speaking for Miss Woodhouse, we are nothing more than friendly acquaintances.

Just given everything that has been going on the last few days, I can't help but wonder why emotions are so hard at times.

I will be married in 10 days!!!

The manor feels very quiet — even our dear hostess has ceased her gossiping.

I did see that we shall be having another play, and one of my favorites. I look forward to trying out... perhaps Titania? (I jest.)

Hopefully this just isn’t me and the result of some head injury unbeknownst to me, but I keep bursting out into song for no logical reason. It’s rather odd.

Aside from that, I’ve actually been rather keen for a round of Pall Mall in the future. That is, if enough people are interested.

I don't often mark my birthday, but I did wake up to a beautiful bouquet of violets this morning. Thank you, to my mystery gifter.

I'm told all my siblings are present. Even Anthony. But I'm...suddenly the youngest? Or near enough?


Quite an auspicious begining.

For those that I haven't been fortunate enough to meet, I'm Daphne Bridgerton. I'm newly engaged. Very very newly. And I'm very confused.

I'm just curious...are these sheets of paper with all these bits of gossip a frequent occurrence?

That and I don't even know whom the Bridgerton family is.

I am afraid that I do not know what our esteemed hostess means by salt or salty. Personally, I have found the food here a little bland, though that obviously does not deter my dear brother Colin, but it certainly not been my place to say.

Perhaps our hostess ought to speak to Cook in regards to salt levels.

I very much resent the implication that I am happy with my husband deceased. Of course I am, as any widow would be, saddened and in grief. I only came here to see my daughter married, and the silly girl was gone immediately. Now I am here through no fault of my own.

I resent the idea that I would be mercenary in any way.

I must admit I am not as shocked and confused as I ought to have been, seeing as how somehow the entire manor has relocated overnight to the shore. Does this, perchance, mean that we're growing accustomed to the machinations of Lady Whistledown?

Has everyone that was afflicted by yesterday's party tricks returned to their usual form today?

Where is Nurse? Or Mama? I was told I am not to leave my room until one of them fetches me and I am bored and hungry and no one to talk to or play with. Where is Gregory?
