Thread: Pegasi
WHO: Teddy and Leon
WHEN: During the Field Trip, Sunday [backdated]
WHERE: Île Campobello, the Pegasi pens
Partnering up with Teddy during the tour of the menagerie, Leon went with the other witch from area to area, but it was clear that the younger boy wanted to go straight to the Pegasi pens, so Leon, smiling and agreeing that it was going to be one of the best highlights of the place, skipped over to that side of the facility.
It was kind of sad, that so many beautiful creatures had been injured by hunters or by other monsters, and had to spend their days here rather than be free. But on the other hand, Leon could clearly see they had a good life here, the best, given the circumstances, and they were treated with such respect that it was hard to think of this place as a creature pound, and more like a creature paradise. Leon thought that if he'd been born some supernatural creature instead of a human witch, that he wouldn't have minded retiring here when he got too old to hide or defend himself from hunters.
The Pegasus area was large and open and there were other students gathered around, reading about the beasts, and one of the caretakers was there to answer questions, but Leon tugged on Teddy's arm and took him into the trees, wanting to get straight to the animals. They didn't walk for long before something large and white moved in the trees above their heads and, landing on all fours with a little prance and a tail swish, the youngest of the pegasi came to greet the two boys with fearlessness.
Leon's jaw dropped open as the animal folded feathery wings down against its horse flanks and its large black eyes regarded them with such knowing that the voodooist felt exposed and, frankly, unworthy to be so close to something so beautiful. He took a step back and the Pegasus focused on Teddy instead, coming in to sniff at his shirt and seek the apple treats he was used to humans carrying around the pens.
