[Admin] Proposal for a new home
[Mirrored at noscans_daily.]

Moving to Dreamwidth

In recent weeks, the mod team have been discussing options to make our particular corner of the internet more secure and user-friendly. Since our TOSing at LiveJournal, the community has regrown here at InsaneJournal. However, there still remain a number of issues with our new home - not least that we have no guarantee we won't get suspended from InsaneJournal just as we were from LJ. InsaneJournal was only ever intended to be a temporary home while we explored other options. Our search has been suspended over the past couple of months, but we've finally had the space to get back to it, and our top choice by a long shot is Dreamwidth.

We're now in discussions with the Dreamwidth admin and this is why we feel it's important to bring you guys to the table and get the input of the membership on a very important decision. Read more... )

The Halls of Fate, Part Five
(Fewer scans equals less worktime, ahahaha.)

In our last chapter, we had a rescue mission and a history lesson. This time, we get a chapter so brief that it's practically a footnote, a metaphysical entity gone batshit insane, and the first casualties of the upcoming Infinite Crisis. Seven scans from JSA #74-80.

Wonder Woman Day!
A bit of news that's relevant to our interests: This Sunday is the fourth annual Wonder Woman Day.

What's Wonder Woman Day, you ask? Why, it's an independent charity fundraiser which raises money for domestic violence shelters and crisis hotlines. Basically, you buy cool Wonder Woman art, and your money helps protect women in need. Very win/win. Entirely something Diana would approve of. And while the city of Portland, Oregon is in no way affiliated with DC, they tend to get some pretty big names out there anyway. This year, Gail, Aaron Lopresti, and Los Bros Hernandez will be in attendance, and there's art on offer from Alex Ross, Rodney Buchemi, Jeff Smith, and Colleen Coover, among others.

"But I'm nowhere near Portland, Oregon!" you protest. Well, that's fine, it's not too late to bid online.

And, just to make it a little more clear how awesome this is:

And that's not even the half of it. Check out the rest of the bidables at the Wonder Woman Day website (be advised it doesn't work right in Firefox >.<), and if you're anywhere near in town, swing by and take a look, it's a good time for a good cause.

Proposed Move: Update!
[Mirrored here on NoScans_Daily.]

First off, thanks for all the feedback!

We've been in contact with Dreamwidth admin again and many of the concerns you guys raised in our previous posts have been resolved.

Before we get into that, a few of you have asked why we didn't have a direct poll in our previous post. We were trying to be clear that this is a proposal we are all very strongly behind, but that we wanted to hear from the community before any final decisions were made. We're sorry we didn't emphasize that more clearly.

The invite code poll is only and exactly what we say it is: a headcount, to find out how many people would need codes if and when we move, and whether there are people out there to donate codes. (People have been far and away incredibly generous -- you guys are awesome!) Members who vote in that poll do not get any kind of "extra voice" in the decision to move -- they're helping us figure out how many codes we need, and that's it.

Yesterday, we didn't poll because we were laying out our initial proposal -- we had a solid moving plan, but it was still a plan created amongst ourselves with just a little bit of input from Dreamwidth. What we were interested in wasn't strictly the numbers (although we took into account the tenor of responses) so much as perspectives we hadn't considered. We didn't need a tally; we needed people who would say, "No, that's a terrible idea because of x," or "That's great, but I'd like to know whether you thought of y." That's exactly what we've been hearing, and it's been very helpful. We have a better idea of what issues concern you the most, and we're going to try and address them now. Read more... )

Heroes of the H-Mansion (5 of 10)

A webcomic done by Gurihiru, a Japanese artist team best known for their work on POWER PACK, it's a very irreverent take on the Marvel Universe, if the characters all lived in the same apartment building.

This installment is very similar to the previous one, but with Deadpool swapped out for Iceman.
