lakeside mansion; dietre & hugh.
WHO: Dietre and Hugh.
WHEN: After this.
WHERE: Lakeside Mansion.
SUMMARY: Hugh seemed down, so Dietre joins him for pizza and Dirty Dancing.
WARNINGS: None to start. Will update.
Hugh did not seem to be quite his usual self on the forums earlier that evening. A concerning thing, so Dietre was glad the man decided to invite him over for a movie. He was happy to help his friend in whatever capacity possible. He felt he had failed to do so in the past, for Liam, and that feeling continued to haunt him and shape his interactions with others. Well, he would do better this time. He would be the friend that could be counted upon. And when he sunk into his own inevitable lows, he vowed not to bring Hugh down with him. Upon arriving, Sieglinde was quick to romp with her best friend Heart, leaving Dietre and Hugh free to settle down together on the couch with their pizza and wine. Though the movie was touted as a classic, Dietre had never seen it. He actually hadn’t seen many movies at all, his spare time growing up was spent sitting at a piano or in bed with a book. He never had much interest in movies, but Hugh seemed determined to educate him on what he was missing out on and who was he to argue? The pizza was good, and so was the wine, which he drank perhaps a bit more of than usual due to the saltiness of the food. They were a half hour or so into the movie and Dietre was on his second glass when he ventured to make some commentary on the film. First was a sniff of disapproval, followed by, “All the men in this movie are awful…” The son of the hotel owner was insufferable, and how could he not pity Penny for how cruelly she was treated by someone she thought cared about her? Johnny’s teaching style was too stern for his tastes too. But the movie continued and he found himself to be a bit less judgemental. The scene in the woods brought about a small smile, and Dietre turned to Hugh, his tone teasing, “Is that how you learned to dance, Hugh? Balancing on a log?” |
