REMAINS OOC

The survivors of Austin now have a new danger to fear. Just as it seemed that the Ghouls were dwindling out and the Hellhounds had learned to heel, members of the group calling themselves Los Nahuales started to arrive in Austin. The former gun cartel turned post-apocalyptic drug dealers was reigning over nearby San Antonio up until recently, when their leader's destructive nihilism and wanton greed burned down the city. They've claimed Austin as their new home, and have settled in on the north side of the city, across the Colorado River from the Hellhounds on the Greenbelt.

The members of Los Nahuales are now driven almost completely by greed and bloodlust. Their leader, a man named Emmanuel who calls himself the Jaguar, encourages violence as a tactic to assert dominance and instill fear. The environment of the crew has grown hateful and savage, even towards each other. They have started dealing Praxacaterol to the addicts in the tunnels, and have established several drug dens in the North Loop where junkies can come squat. These houses have been tagged with a black panther head and are not to be trespassed in. Los Nahuales accepts several forms of payment for their wash: of course, they accept goods and supplies, but they also are willing to barter. They are particularly fond of gold and jewels, which still seem to have value to them. They also allow the junkies to work on a "tab," which they use to manipulate into an indentured servitude once the debt comes due. Unlike the Hellhounds, who primarily used middlemen to dole out their Prax, Los Nahuales deals directly to their customers and the members are free to set their own price. Sometimes that price is a cruel one. The members use the power they have over the junkies to exploit and abuse them frequently, and several female Ghouls have gone missing from one of the Los Nahuales drug dens over the past few weeks.

Los Nahuales is not just a danger to the junkies in the city. The members have been roving the streets, and they have targeted supply scouts from all four shelters indiscriminately. The members are equipped with high grade military weaponry and armored vehicles, similar to those used by the Capitol's military patrolmen. Many around the city will have heard of this new raider gang by now, and some supply scouts may have already spotted them from afar out in the city. They primarily stick to the north half of the city, but they have been venturing across the Colorado as of late and can pop up almost anywhere. For now the current members of the cartel are primarily NPC, so if you would like your characters to have encounters with them in the city you can contact us to chat about it.
