WHO: Josh and Olivia
WHAT: Josh helps Olivia get a break from the LBJ fray
WHEN: After these texts
WHERE: University of Texas Libraries
In all the months that Josh has had his bike, he's never actually had someone ride on it with him. At the same time. So closely behind him. There'd never been any reason for someone to share his bike - all the Hounds had bikes of their own, and a lot of the women never bothered to venture out in the first place once they got there. So Josh wasn't too sure why his hands felt kind of sweaty around the handle. It was just Olivia, and they'd done plenty more than just sitting somewhere with her hands around his waist. Altogether, this wasn't a new phenomenon.
But the last time they'd been in any remotely similar position, zombies were still considered fiction, and they were both going to school like normal college-age kids. A lot had changed since then. A lot had changed in the last six months, and Josh wasn't sure how they would fit after everything became so different.
He pulled up to the University of Texas main library less than ten minutes after picking Olivia up from the LBJ. She said she needed a break, and Josh was willing to accommodate, even if their destinationw was just a stone's throw away from her shelter. He parked the bike just outside the doors, hidden from view by some dead shrubs. Unless someone was actively looking for it, the bike wasn't too obvious.
"So, uh, hi," Josh said lamely, dusting his hands off on his jeans. He looked up at the tall building, smiling sadly with recognition. "Ready to go in, then?" He asked, directing his attention back to Olivia, not sure if she expected him to be in charge or for her to lead the way, or whatever. This was just a new situation, and Josh wasn't sure of the protocol.
