Olivia sighed, releasing a breath she hadn't even realized she'd been holding. "We better," she said, looking back up at him and holding his gaze as she intertwined their fingers together. She suddenly wanted nothing more than to stay there with him in that abandoned, decaying building. Or continue roaming Austin's city streets, looking for goods. Maybe even see if Josh would take her to the Dog Park. Anything but go back home to the library, where her real life was waiting for her.
She stepped closer, allowing him to pull her into a hug. Intimacy had never quite been her forte, but somehow she didn't mind it as far as Josh was concerned. Not that she'd admit that even just starting to talk about what was on her mind had taken some of that weight off of her. Not yet, anyway.
Olivia settled her head against his chest, still holding on to his hand while her other arm moved around his waist. "Do you want to be my bodyguard, Josh?" she murmured, hoping he could still hear her. It was a return to the jokes she'd made earlier, admittedly, but she hoped he could tell that it was also a request for his help. That she didn't want to push her fears and worries away anymore.
