"Where's your sense of humor, Josh? If we don't joke about it, doesn't that mean they've kind of won?" More than they already had, apparently, judging from the state of Austin and beyond. Yet still people felt the need to do senseless shit like kill people just for fun.
She'd been looking for some sort of escape or distraction today, something she'd initially thought Josh would be able to help with. But there he went bringing things up that she didn't want to dwell on. "It's because they have a bunch of outdated PCs here instead of Macs," she said airily, turning to face him despite the fact that talking about her nerves was the last thing she wanted to do.
There wasn't any point in pretending, though, was there? They'd already talked about it once. Josh knew what was going on. "Of course it is. Apparently zombies aren't enough. I have to start thinking about whether people I know are gonna get stabbed and killed." And here she was, out in Austin in flagrant disregard for all of Day's rules, with a boy from the raider camp Day completely despised. If she got caught, the shelter leaders were going to be super stoked with her.
