WHO: Lucien and Charlie
WHERE: Parking lot
WHEN: Evening, right around sunset

For someone who had spent most of his life running, Lucien was adjusting to captivity fairly well. He'd only been at the hotel for two full days and hadn't yet attempted to leave, mostly because the effort just seemed futile. Waking up after that first night, he'd quickly come to the realization that his stay might, in fact, be longer than he'd intended. He wasn't entirely sure how he was supposed to feel about this knowledge, though to his credit, at least he hadn't panicked and mowed down any innocent bystanders with his car.

Not that he could have, anyway. His beautiful Firebird had really bitten the dust this time, and even close scrutiny had been unable to detect any obvious problems under the hood. He'd spent the last two hours examining what he could of the vehicle's major components, but without the proper tools there was little he could do.

Now that the sun had settled low on the horizon and frustration had set in, Lucien was perched on the curb beside his car, using his thigh as a surface for rolling a cigarette. The air had grown palpably thick as a result of the approaching storm, but it didn't seem to bother him; he was certainly no stranger to heat and humidity, or even vicious storms, for that matter. The only measure he'd taken to combat the uncomfortable conditions was to tug his hair into a middle ponytail. After all, there were few things he disliked more than the feeling of sweaty hair plastered against his neck.

Who: Charlie and Jai
When: Mid-morning
Where: Their apartment

Jai had been a little more stressed out than usual as of late, even in this place. Since coming to the hotel there was always a bit of tension lingering in the back of his mind. The encounter with Christine and Finley only brought it all to the surface. Today was his first day off since it had all gone down, and aside from Nan's walks, he was spending it by being as lazy as possible. At that moment he was sprawled out on the living room couch, half-heartedly strumming on his guitar. He'd plunked down in that spot after Nan's last walk and dozed a little, and hadn't budged much since waking up. Oh yeah, he'd definitely needed this.

It eventually occurred to him that he could hear Charlie moving around in another room. "Oi," he called. "Aren't you off tomorrow? I'd've thought you'd be out half-drunk by now." Sometimes it still bugged Jai that he couldn't unwind with a couple of beers like everybody else, but he'd tried it in the past. His meds, not to mention mental state, had not thanked him for it at all.

I'll be alone dancing you know it baby

Who: Nisha and OPEN
Where: The ballroom
When: Afternoon, while The Breakfast Club is on

Like most girls her generation (and of any generation, really) the thing Nisha liked the most about The Breakfast Club was Judd Nelson's rebellious bad-ass John Bender. All the rest of it she could take or leave, except for the dancing montage of course. Still, the Brat-Pack movie marathon was one of the better ideas the overeager activities manager had come up with, and Nisha thought she might as well encourage this sort of thing. It filled her with nostalgia, which she wasn't used to feeling, and Nisha felt herself sigh every once in a while trying to recount what she'd felt the first time she'd seen this movie, probably some time in the early 90s.

She had been feeling a little restless lately; hadn't played in weeks, hadn't really done drugs in weeks either, and this whole 'vacation' felt a bit like a daze - as if she was in some sort of dream reality she was going to wake up from eventually. It might be her mind's way of dealing with knowing she couldn't leave but not knowing exactly why or how, but in the back of her head there was a growing sense of something wrong, something amiss. Much like a dream in that respect too.

Today, as she sat in the darkness of the ballroom with popcorn and a cherry coke Nisha tried to forget, but this movie only reminded her of her own adolescence and she wasn't sure that was any better. At least John Bender was cool. Kind of dreamy, even, so it fit.
