Who: Nisha and Seth
Where: Lounging by the Morning Star pool
When: Late morning

If the activities director came back around again to stand in Nisha's light and ask her why she wasn't partaking in the ridiculous water activities that would only end in tears, Nisha might just throw her drink in her face. It was one of those days where she was contented just lying there getting her Vitamin D, drinking lovely sweet icy cocktails in peace. Of course every, oh, thirty minutes - so far - the activities director came by her stretcher and asked her to come join the others. Nisha didn't want to, Nisha didn't think anybody else wanted to, and Nisha's body wasn't so much for moving at the moment. In fact, the only body part that was moving was her arm to get the drink and put it back on the table.

When Nisha saw the activities director bothering some more people who were doing the same she was, she scoffed. "Oh for fuck's sake. I mean, is her pay in proportion with how hard she tries?"

something in an elevator. it won't be love.

Who: Justice, Katya, Nisha and Cameron
When: 6:40 pm
Where: the other elevator car!

Justice’s schedule had gotten off track again. Although, as he’d often pondered during his decades here, what difference did it make when he did what? He’d slept most of the day away, and after getting up and taking a cursory shower—his hair was barely toweled dry and stood up damp and spiky on his head, and he hadn’t bothered to shave his scruff, but he was clean enough—he’d left his room and padded down to the elevator. Time for some food. It was dinnertime, but he hadn’t eaten since about 2 a.m. He didn’t especially care what he had, but he was feeling a bit overdue for nourishment of some sort.

There were other people getting onto the elevator when he did, but he wouldn’t have to endure them for that long, Justice thought as he got on last and poked at the button for the first floor, which was already lit up. He was aware that punching the damn thing wouldn’t make the door close faster, but he always felt inclined to do it anyway. Finally the door eased closed and the elevator started to move. It was business as usual until, with an abrupt jolt, the car stopped halfway down and the lights went out, leaving them illuminated by a faint red glow.

Justice, with his superior sense of patience, rammed the heel of his hand into the control panel. “C’mon, fucker,” he demanded.

WHO: Lucien and Nisha
WHERE: Ignite Lounge & Bar
WHEN: Mid-afternoon

A distinct restlessness seemed to permeate the air, and the longer the storm outside raged, the thicker it grew. There was truly no escape from the hotel on a day like this; it was virtually impossible to even step foot outside the main building, let alone the outer boundaries of the facility.

Lucien had spent the better part of the morning in his room nursing a low-grade hangover, and had only ventured out a scant few hours earlier. Not that there was much to see or do that particularly interested him, of course; he just needed to get out of that damn room and stretch his legs.

So it was that, naturally, he'd found himself returning to the scene of the crime. He honestly didn't remember much of the previous night, although he knew it had involved hard liquor and a few inventive drinking games. His alcohol tolerance had developed considerably over long years of practice, and as he claimed a stool at the bar counter, it stood to reason that a little hair of the dog could only help his situation. There really wasn't much else to do, anyway.

I'll be alone dancing you know it baby

Who: Nisha and OPEN
Where: The ballroom
When: Afternoon, while The Breakfast Club is on

Like most girls her generation (and of any generation, really) the thing Nisha liked the most about The Breakfast Club was Judd Nelson's rebellious bad-ass John Bender. All the rest of it she could take or leave, except for the dancing montage of course. Still, the Brat-Pack movie marathon was one of the better ideas the overeager activities manager had come up with, and Nisha thought she might as well encourage this sort of thing. It filled her with nostalgia, which she wasn't used to feeling, and Nisha felt herself sigh every once in a while trying to recount what she'd felt the first time she'd seen this movie, probably some time in the early 90s.

She had been feeling a little restless lately; hadn't played in weeks, hadn't really done drugs in weeks either, and this whole 'vacation' felt a bit like a daze - as if she was in some sort of dream reality she was going to wake up from eventually. It might be her mind's way of dealing with knowing she couldn't leave but not knowing exactly why or how, but in the back of her head there was a growing sense of something wrong, something amiss. Much like a dream in that respect too.

Today, as she sat in the darkness of the ballroom with popcorn and a cherry coke Nisha tried to forget, but this movie only reminded her of her own adolescence and she wasn't sure that was any better. At least John Bender was cool. Kind of dreamy, even, so it fit.

puppies with puppies

Who: Nisha and Jai
When: Afternoon
Where: Outside, near one of the pools

When Jai had come to the hotel, he had not come alone. He had brought his dog, Nan, with him, and she was perhaps a saving grace. The copper colored husky had adjusted quickly to their new life, and had adjusted to the heat with her summer coat coming in even lighter than usual. She didn't much like being left at the apartment on his shifts (in New York, she'd always gone to the park with him), but she got by, and Jai was good with her. First thing before and after every shift, he always took her out for a long walk so she could get her exercise. Jai was happy to say he no longer felt like he'd been punched in the face whenever he walked outside into the heat, but it was still a bit much for his liking. How Nan would cope with it had been one of his biggest concerns, and he saw now that it had been completely unnecessary. She was thriving.

He had left Nan a long lead on her leash as they started, but now as they began to skirt one of the pools he reigned her in slightly. Nan, as it turned out, enjoyed swimming, and she had not been even a little bit hesitant about jumping right into the water on one of their first days here. This wasn't so much a problem for Jai, but it seemed like the sort of thing certain members of staff would take issue with. Nan eyed the water and tugged slightly, bouncing in place as she barked up at Jai. It was as if she was saying, Come on, buddy, I won't tell if you don't.
