Amir doesn't put his goggles on right away because he's not wise to the art of hiding his expression. They're on his forehead when he turns to Scrimmy in line, his eyes widened in what almost resembles panic. But he has this. Really, he does.

She gives him a thumbs up and all he can do is nod, one hand gripping his bat and the other his broom and he's fine, really.

"Your hair looks good," he says. It's all he has, but he knows what it took to get to this point and he appreciates it. Whether or not that's conveyed in his wide-eyed panic, he doesn't know. But then they're taking the pitch anyway.
