The Kenmare Kestrels were early adopters of the pink, and the team that consistently flashed the most of it. They all wear some measure of it in matches, uncoordinated bits and pieces in support of their Captain. A picture to the Quibbler even showed what the team wears under those robes, bright pink sports shirts (thank Kip).

But when they fly out today they look different. Gone is the mishmash of random individual bits of pink, today they're uniform, coordinated, and with a new serious demeanor. Each player sports a pink rosette over their heart, and neon pink gloves. The only one that stands out today is Lynch who has added bright pink goggles to the mix. The Kestrels have flown out today as a united pink wall for the Falcons to crash up against. And boy do they crash..and burn.

This is the Kenmare Kestrels at their finest. They're coordinated and play with their signature smooth confidence, and don't give the Falcons an inch. Wiggins draws first blood, and for that the Falcons manage to knock him clean off his broom. But it only makes the Kestrels buckle down and get more determined. Their beaters come swinging back with the pass lane interference they're known for, and suddenly the points start racking up with no signs of stopping or slowing down.

It's a harsh and constant beating at the hoops from here on out, nothing the Falcons do stops or slows them down. Even when their beaters try to take out the opposing beaters and manage to hit Fitzpatrick hard enough he has to be taken out for about 6 hours of play (and is then put back in for the end because he insists). Nothing helps.

Kelly is a wall they can't get past, and the Falcon chasers don't manage to build any momentum in the 21 hours. They're cut off at every turn and their more aggressive but less precise beaters can't do much about it. It's a one sided beating through and through without a chance for a breath.

When the snitch makes its first appearance, Lynch chases down the young reserve seeker and it becomes very clear that despite his team being well up right now, they will not be letting the Falcons take the quick out. This is going to be a slow drawn out but absolute defeat, and the Kestrels will be ending it on their terms or it doesn't end at all.

And it nearly doesn't.

After two brief appearances and the 4th hour, the snitch seems to utterly disappear. What's more is that the Kestrels captain begins spending most of those 21h making up for the lack of chaser and the hours Fitzpatrick is out (he comes back in after more than enough time). He's weaving between chaser sets, drawing bludger fire, getting right where the Falcons want him least and drawing their attention and ire. Any time it looks like they might be building up a little positive momentum, this kestrel comes swooping in to nip it in the bud.

----

After 21 grueling hours, finally the snitch appears again as a little ray of hope for the Falcons to get out of this nightmare. Aidan chases it down, flying well ahead of the Falcons reserve seeker with experienced ease. But when he catches up to the snitch, he doesn't reach a hand out for it. Instead he flies alongside the little ball, as he seems to wait for Jones to finally catch up. At last minute Aidan comes to an abrupt halt midair, letting the beleaguered reserve shoot up ahead to make that final grab while Lynch sits on his broom and deliberately waits. In a last act of mercy, the Falcons are given the dignity of closing it and doing something about the dismal 1080-100 point difference on the board. There's no need for that final twist of the knife, it's been clearly shown who set the pace and terms here.

And there was only one bird of prey playing today.

As the exhausted Kestrels land they're all proud grins. Even Kip, who had the time to head to Mungo's get checked out and treated, and arrive back to watch the last hours, is there to pile onto the group hug. They're all emotional in that moment, and though their Captain is the muggleborn, many have a muggle parent or grandparent or are heavily connected to muggleborns through friends or marriage. The trigger behind the Cameron vs. Flint fight is no secret in the Kestrels locker room and it became the fuel for their performance today.

Tired as they are, they're bonafide pros, and gamely take on the press after.

----

"Lynch! Why did you give Jones the snitch?"

"Because there was no doubt today who was the better team. We outplayed them on every front, and in every way.

I wanted it to end on our terms, but there's no honour in an over 1000 point win. They can have the snitch and the dignity of bowing out. We made our statement, we showed who the superior team was, and we weren't distracted doing it either."

"But your stats-"

"-This is a team sport, it's not about individual glories. I think we showed that out there. When someone takes out one of you, the rest will bind together and step up to meet the challenge. I don't have anything to prove with my numbers, but I do have things to prove with my actions. That's what today was about."

"The pink isn't new for the Kestrels but today your team looked different, can you talk about that?"

"I said before the match that we'll be looking to make a statement, and we did.

Every single person with muggle heritage, whether muggleborn or halfblood or with muggle grandparents, has been persecuted for it. Before the war we've been picked on, harrassed, beaten. And during the war so much worse.

The war is over, but the struggle is not. What's changed is that we as wizards and witches of any blood, shouldn't stand for it. And we wanted to show today that not only shouldn't we stand for it, that we won't. Gone are those days where there are no real consequences or pushback. Muggleborns are here to support each other, yes, but you're not alone in the wizarding world. You have people behind you. [Lynch indicates his team in the pink rosettes and gloves.] Uplift is about that support.

So this match is for everyone who's been persecuted for their blood, family, or standing up for what's right, good, and decent. Thank you for keeping going. You're not alone anymore, we've got your back. Things are changing for the better."

Mary definitely tries not to cry at this point as she's watching, trying to stop Sorcha from running over to hug Uncle Aidan.

After a few more questions, Aidan notices his tiny goddaughter in her pink frock looking like she won't be waiting another minute to escape her mother's arms. With a wide smile and laugh, he crouches down and holds his arms out to encourage her.

Mary needs a moment to wipe her eyes, and Sorcha takes every advantage, making a dash through the waiting press and jumping right up into her Uncle Aidan's arms, big grin on her face. All of her favourite people are in the spotlight, and she's not entirely sure why, but she's all for it nonetheless.

Still in his Kestrels gear with the pink accessories, Aidan grins and catches Sorcha, swinging her up into his arms as he stands back up. "Well don't you look fancy there, Sorcha. I like the dress you've got. Did you want the goggles to match it?" The press are getting plenty of pictures of the Kestrels captain and the tiny cutie in the pink frock, and Aidan doesn't mind. Best press partner to have, hands down.

Once Aidan and the rest of his team had finished the press gauntlet, Monte almost shyly approaches the Seeker Captain. "You were incredible!"

It's probably the combination of events- all the love and support, the Kestrels playing like a team possessed, the late, late, late nature of the game- but this seems to finally be Monte's tipping point into tears territory.

Fortunately, he doesn't fall completely to pieces, but there are definitely a few pictures taken where it's obvious that he'd been crying even though he's all smiles.

There's no shame in getting emotional and appreciative over love and support, if you ask Aidan. If Monte looks like the tears are threatening to overflow, Aidan will pull him into a longer hug to give him a moment of privacy for any tears.

Afterwards he'll put his arm back on Monte's shoulder and lead him to following the team and the pink contingent who are off to party. "Come on, I think today warrants some celebrating. And you know, kestrels are in the falcon family. So today, you're the better falcon."

Sorcha notices Monte's mood and definitely worms her way in for a hug of her own.

This is definitely her dad's personality coming out here, rather than her mother's, and the man himself can be seen with a fond chuckle across his face not far away.

Jason, who has been on his feet since the final chase for the snitch let out some colorful words when he sees what Lynch is doing. Man, does he have style. (Jason may not so secretly wish he was that cool. To which no one should ever tell Jason he is any level of cool, he would laugh uncomfortably.)

After the match is over, he makes it down to the pitch, Mandela in tow. He makes a point to shake hands with each Kenmare player still around, congratulating them. He also makes a moment to go shake hands with Betty Wyatt and Victoria Cattermole (and any other Falmouth player who might be muggleborn friendly). He can appreciate a match well played. Politics aside.

During one of Aidan's press interviews, Jason approaches unannounced to give Lynch a big hug. "You, my friend are a legend. May we all aspire to your level."

But yeah. Jason doesn't really see it. It's not that he's oblivious as much as he's like why would people fanboy/fangirl me?

Most of the Kenmare players know Jason to some extent, and look thrilled to see him there. A few who are more directly involved in Uplift, like half-blooded Wiggins who lost his muggle father in the war, give him a hug (Kip may be a little emotional and...maybe still a little hopped up on pain meds).

Aidan laughs and hugs Jason back during the mid-interview interruption and makes sure to keep him there. "Those are big shoes to fill. Want to come take some questions?" He then turns to address the press taking photos. "I know he's hard to recognize without the tiara and feather boa, but I'm sure you're all familiar with Jason King here.

A lot of us wear pink well, but few like him. And I want to say that without his vision and drive, Uplift would not have come even this far." He turns to his friend and smiles. "Thank you, Jason. It wasn't long ago that I wouldn't have even dreamed of something like this, and yet here we are."

"I won't lie. I do make this look good." Jason laughs along with Aidan. He hopes to give the press a few good shot with his shirt, and answer any questions. (Jason doubts it will be in the sports section, but he'll keep talking for a while.)

He does land on the point that "Anyone who thinks that quidditch isn't political hasn't been paying attention."

Alasdair, attending the match as a spectator (though he's here to lend Jason a hand if he needs it) is watching the Lynch press conference. As it starts to wind down, a cheeky whistle of approval can be heard from somewhere, the source (a certain Scotsman wearing a t-shirt matching Jason's underneath a trendy jeans and jacket combo) perhaps more familiar to Quidditch players from a certain circle...

Given that she currently only knows Jason, really, when it comes to the Uplift Quidditchers, Rachael takes advantage of possessing a Ministry staff badge to circulate as much as she can. She's watching the Lynch press conference and definitely approves - though she's not sure how the man has the restraint to have not wanted to lay Flint out flat with one punch. She certainly did, when she heard.
