Scrimmy shows up to the locker room in her oversized team jacket and headphones on. She's been listening to Joy's walkman coming here. It's mostly spice girls but the last few songs have been tubthumping on loop to get into the zone.

This is her first starter match without Joy. She's acutely aware that they no longer have their unpredictable offensive force today, and hanging out with Meaghan and letting herself be bummed out have helped in a way. Today she's nervous but determined. David's got this, and if there's no Joy then...she and Alasdair are just going to score TWICE as much to make up for it!

Today it's not about scoring a snitch, today it's about going out there and the chasers making up for the hole that is unpredictable aussie style offense line. Scrimmy is determined and spends a lot of her prematch time hopping and dancing around as warmup. And maybe annoying David a little if he needs it for nerves.

When she's got her warpaint (it's that kind of match) and quid robes on, before they line up to head onto the pitch, Scrimmy finds Meaghan and gives her a soft shoulder punch. "Let's give her one to read about over there and show people what an awesome team she was a proud part of. For Joy?"

But he's there to give people last tips and help and to make sure everyone knows he's there to lean on. You kids have this, and he expects a smashing victory. 	Alasdair was never one for the music madness before matches, so while he's sitting with the Chasers (and going over game plans beforehand), he's not about dancing and getting pumped up. David has most of his focus - if David wants to talk things through, that is - and he trusts Scrimmy to do what she needs to to get herself in the right headspace. (Reply to this) (Parent)

Ellie arrives to Ellis Moor ready for war. Not unlike the fall classic, her hair is purple today along with those awesome stars shaved into her undercut. She is All Pride Today. Let there be no questions. (It may or may not more privately be an overcorrect in that she is worried that Holyhead is going to break her team the same way that Falmouth did and that all her former teams are out to get her...but if it was that would certainly be very irrational.)

She has never doubted they were going to win. She just wants to do it in style. Which means they need to start things off in style.

Sure, some people may have thought to give a big rallying speech. Ellie and Lorna had other plans. Having commandeered Pip's boom box, the dragon sisters are ready. Did they spend their weekend learning from boss choreography? You bet your butt they did. And they look good.

May you all be formally rallied by "Spice Up Your Life" by the Spice Girls.

It's not perfect, but it's fun. There may or may not be purple and gold glitter explosions to kick things off. We'll credit Maggie the inspiration. The team has certainly heard this song before an might have even seen some version of the dance. Joy liked the Spice Girls. Ellie enjoys the summoning Girl Power before playing Holyhead.

Certainly on the chorus they are looking for audience participation.

	In what would turn out to be a twist of coincidence, Ainsley brought fairy bread in honor of Joy. It's not quite as fancy as what she's brought before, but she felt like it was fitting. 	Amir's not really the rallying type, to know one's surprise, but he does nod at his teammates before they take the pitch and smiles broadly at Maddie cause she's starting. The last couple matches Meaghan had plenty of luck on her side, but she's down at least two notches this time around. Fine. Fine. Meaghan McCormack doesn't need a lucky charm anyway -- beyond the Victory Sign and the fact that she was sure to eat chicken last night, anyway, but that's just common sense.

Meaghan takes her time hyping herself up but she's also grumping herself up: dancing to keep herself loose, but kind of intense about it like she's pissed at someone or expecting a fight. (I mean, it is the Harpies so expecting a fight is fair, especially after you've told them you're going to destroy them.) She's got a good energy, anyway, and looks darkly sure of herself.

Maddie is focused, and if the opposing Beaters give her any thought, she doesn't notice it. She thinks they may have forgotten about her, which is all the better for her. She even tries a couple of times to draw attention away from their Chasers to help get the score up, but it becomes blatantly obvious a couple of hours in that Meaghan is ON FIRE and there's no chance the Harpies are catching them, Snitch or not.

It's at that point, about midway through, that Maddie is able to relax a little and actually enjoy herself. She likes being up in the air and flying and playing far more than she likes the need to win. That revelation is surprising to her, because winning used to be all that mattered—but that was back when she started all the time.

She catches sight of the Snitch about 5 hours and 15 min in, but she takes her time getting to it to prevent the Harpies from trying to block her. It's almost too easy how she makes a leisurely circuit of the pitch to grab it. If not for the refs, she thinks the Harpies might have kept playing. What is going on with them today?

One Chaser above a double century, one not far off and a rookie reserve making not far off a century. The Pride Chasers were on fire today, regardless of the poor Chasing from their erstwhile opponents.

Alasdair takes his usual role of calling the Chaser plays where needed, supporting the backup Chaser and feeding through to someone else. Formerly, the latter would have been Joy and the other Scrimmy, but today the younger woman's position is reversed. Alasdair knows his shit, has studied the Harpies defence inside and out and exploits the advantage given to him by Scrimmy's determination today.

He circles around the pitch from time to time, encouraging the other Chasers to play keep-away a little bit - because why the hell not? He even checks in with some of the other players from time to time.

He eventually lands and descends from his broom in languid, elegant fashion. It's all very French.

Lorna doesn't even understand this match. What is up with Jones and why isn't she Captaining this team? Either way, Lorna is strongly supportive of the chasers today, though they are doing very good job on their own. Lorna would have gone a few fly bys to celebrate a number of those goals.

She's keep coming back to block bludgers from Meaghan (who is a BEAST today!). Especially after noticing that the Holyhead beaters are just not on par today, Lorna lets Keke take a beater lead and Lorna provide back up for her. Might as well right?

Lorna is always disappointed when beaters do Crowder Bludgers, and there were two today! Of course she's not aware of her husband getting hit or her daughter almost getting hit.... There will be rage later.

The Scrimmy that comes blazing through the pitch today is a new hybrid of her past match styles. Unlike her personal best in the Wasps match, this crazy determined offense style isn't fueled by tiny dragon rage. It's just plain angry determination.

She's so into it (and the Harpies suck so much) that she forgets to be nervous and overwhelmed by playing against Gwenog Jones (who Meaghan made her embarrass herself in front of at a Bad Decisions party!).

Through it all it's pretty clear who she's trying to channel. Scrimmy can't quite match the aussie style but she tries to mix it with her own small size and strongarm technique. She zips in between Harpies chasers, using her small size to crouch down and find holes in their formations, and finds new angles to take shots from. And boy does she take her shots. When she said she was going to score twice as much to make up for Joy's absence, she meant it. She shoots more than two Harpies chasers combined. As bad as the Harpies chasers are today, it feels good to have their team utterly dominate possession.

Here's the thing: yeah there's a lot resting on this match, but Meaghan also hates playing the Welsh teams, because Big Welsh Quid Fans like to sing Myfanwy at her. (It's her middle name, she hates it, she also hates the implication that she might be part Welsh.) It's worse with Caerphilly, but it comes up with the Harpies too. She's expecting distraction. She's expecting Gwenog to come for her.

But Gwenog can't seem to touch her, no one can apparently, and the Harpies are so not at Portree's level today that despite occasional bursts of song from the crowd, their fans are apparently too demoralized to try and make it happen.

Meaghan starts grinning as she blocks, then laughing, then outright roaring. She's in a grand fierce mood, to the point of trying to lure the chasers closer to relive her favorite moment against the Bats. But despite getting mad enough to turn foul-happy, none of them are dumb enough to fall for it, which is probably for the best.

The forecast inside the medic tent is "empty with a chance of remaining mostly empty."

Maggie spends half the match screaming happily for the Portree arses she can see, and the other half trying to decide which Holyhead chaser is which of the Three Stooges.

She also manages to figure out the vantage point from which she can watch the match without ever having to be reminded about the existence of the owners' box, for no particular reason at all. Good day to you.
