"Aye. I even fancy a nice arse, but this?" she gestured up to where the players flew, dozens of feet above the ground. "View's crap between the angle and their robes. Shame." He got a side-long glance. "Hosting a party?"

"Would have to lay down so you don't strain your neck with this..." Ugh. He gave up looking up and looked over at Maggie. "Somewhat. David and Peggy have guests." Which probably said it all.

She'd thought about that at every game, and each time come to the same conclusion: it would be braw as fuck to get high and watch a quid match on your back. Unfortunately, it wasn't exactly the sort of opinion to voice at work, so she kept her mouth shut.

Maggie "Ahhh"ed. Then she kicked the grass a little. Then she tried very, very hard not to remember the one-sided, wasted conversation she'd had with a certain gargoyle less than 48 hours prior.

"If you've come down here to find a beau of your own I'd say you're in luck, because I think Holyhead admin's single." She nodded at the other team's tent, where a woman pushing 50 years was reading a tabloid. "Want me to introduce you?"

Alec stuffed his hands in his pockets awkwardly and found the grass at his feet fascinating. Really attention grabbing.

But he did look up to see what Holyhead admin she was pointing out. He half expected an old blind man. "Her taste in reading material really leaves something to be desired. What else have you got?" His deadpan look made it clear he wasn't seriously asking her to look.

"Not much," she replied with another kick. Then folded her hands behind her head. Then looked away. "Might've noticed most folks up high." Which was true — precious few people, even staff, spent the match on the ground.

"You've got her," elbow pointed at the admin, "that pigeon," at a pigeon on the other side of the stands, trying to pick up a hot dog bun, "and me, so," an awkward, painful, horrible pause spent contemplating the twenty thousand ways she'd rather be meeting an untimely death at that exact moment than being here in the first place and having said any words at all, ever, "My vote's the pigeon. Could be a fit animagus under those grimy feathers."

Alec looked away, in the direction of the pigeon, and had to squash down the 'You're in the running?' question that nearly popped out. So instead he stood through that seemingly hour-long awkward pause that followed her suggestion. "Eh. Not many animagi, the chances of payoff are low. What do you think the chances are that I can get the admin to give up her gossip rags?" No he was not going to mention the third option. What was he? Awkward? (Yes)

"Some folk are beyond help," Maggie replied, straining to see what the other witch was reading. "Sure you want to take the risk? You'd come home in the evening to learn about Stubby Boardman's latest escapade." She sucked air through her teeth to communicate just how bad that would be. "Doesn't seem like your type."

Was there a spell that opened a bottomless pit beneath the caster?

"What's my type then if not pigeons and elderly gossip enthusiasts?" As soon as he asked, even if it was a bit sarcastically, he wondered why he had. That was stupid. Even worse he couldn't exactly take it back and tell her to ignore because that'd be weirder.

She pointed out "You naysayed the pigeon," before hmmming for a mite too long, because she hadn't actually been prepared to back that up with... anything, really.

She could have changed the conversation to thw weather. Or the grass. How how clean the tents were! But no. Of course not.

Fuck.

"Well, it's gotta be a match, aye? Like how the Bulgarian's courting Pegs? So we're looking for a lassie with a good name." Then she added, because she couldn't help scoff at'society things, "Whatever the fuck that means."

The tents were very clean. Perhaps they should move onto that.

"So ideally pronounceable." Of course that's not what she meant. "And is the Bulgarian courting her, or is she courting him?" Because as far as he saw it, Peggy was the stronger personality in that duo and the one driving things. Rightly so too. "Anyway, I already have a name."

There were three things to respond to. Maggie just cast him another side-long glance. "No need for a name, then? Widens the pool. Braw."
