Hurricane Party!
Who: Ginny and the other residents of the resort
What: Hurricane Party!
When: Day 10, around 7 PM.
Where: The White Sands Resort Bar and Club
Rating: PG? I don't know what crazy shenanigans are going to occur.
Status: In progress.

Ginny hated being stuck indoors.

She almost literally been trying to climb the walls in her frustration when she'd decided to throw a hurricane party. She hadn't met many of the residents, and figured if there was anyone else as irritated at being stuck inside then they'd appreciate the change of scenery. It'd also give people a chance to mingle and meet. She wondered if there were others from her world here besides Tonks.

The planet had been most accomodating to her ideas. The club was currently themed for a luau, and small lanterns shed a soft glow over numerous smaller groupings of tables as well as over the dance floor and bar. She hadn't been sure what the other residents might eat, so she'd asked for a large selection of snacks. The bar was well-stocked as well. She didn't recognize all of the things stocked, but she did notice a bottle of Firewhiskey and what appeared to be butterbeer.

Now all this party needed was people. Maybe she'd get to see Max again.

"Pleasure to meet you", Sonya automatically and politely replied. "Only yesterday? I imagine you're still adjusting then, unless transporting to unusual places is normal for you", she added. "I've been here six days myself with no end in sight".

The solider was never really one for small talk and found herself at a loss for what to say next. She would have liked to ask Jigen more questions but felt like an idiot just standing around. "I'd offer to buy you a drink since I've almost knocked you over but apparently everything here is free so would you like to join me for one?" she asked.

"Not exactly normal," the man said rather vaguely as an answer to the adjusting issue. The place was strange, alright, but the thing that had bothered him the most so far was the hurricane outside that restricted him from moving around and exploring the area properly.

He studied the woman for a while with a grim expression that seemed to be characteristic for him. He was naturally cautious around women - well, around people in general - and intelligent women like the lieutenant appeared to be were dangerous, that much he knew for sure. As long as he kept his distance and his head cool, unlike Lupin with women around, he knew he could feel confident about himself.

"Hmmh. I was going to get a drink anyway," he answered, and nodded towards the bar. He walked with the woman to the counter, and as he sat down, he took a pack of cigarettes and a silver Zippo lighter from his breast pocket. Jigen shook a cigarette out of the pack and brought it to his lips. With a flick of a wrist her opened the lighter and lit it, before setting it back down on the counter as he was already inhaling the smoke deeply.

"Six days," he then said solemnly. As he spoke, he exhaled the blue smoke out. "This has not been going on for very long, then. Do you know how long the first person to arrive has been here?"

Sonya followed Jigen to the bar and carefully took a seat on a stool, thinking that perhaps she should have worn a skirt that was a little less form-fitting. Honestly, she didn’t have a clue how to dress for these things but was glad to see she didn’t stick out like a sore thumb as she looked around at the other people in the club. “I’m not sure who was the first person here but so far I’ve only met one other person who was here longer than me. Okita Souji, he’s been about eight days now but I don’t see him tonight”, she added as she glanced around once more. “But I think you’re right, these abductions do not seem like they’ve been going on for very long. I have to admit that I’m rather impressed everyone’s been handling it so well. Most civilians I know probably would be panicking rather than having a party in this situation”.

A golem silently approached them and Sonya assumed that the creature was playing bartender tonight. While Sonya had no intention of getting drunk tonight, one drink was not going to hurt. “I’ll have a whiskey sour”, she said and waited for Jigen to ask for his own drink. Once the golem moved off to fetch their orders, Sonya glanced back at Jigen. “Judging by your accent, I’m guessing you’re either from or live in the States or am I wrong?” she asked. “And can I ask what year you’re from? From my experiences here so far it seems like there’s a number of people from different times here”.

"I haven't been mingling much, but the people I've met here so far have not exactly been... house wives or regular office workers," he said pointing out that the Planet did not have people that fell into the category most civilians. The man looked up from under the brim of his black hat at the golem then, and glanced at the woman at her order.

"Scotch on the rocks," was his order. After a smoke from the cigarette he said to Sonya without looking at her, "You're no ordinary lady either. Not many women drink whiskey, soldier or not."

He paused again and turned the cigarette around in his fingers, looking at it solemnly. He took his time answering and was generally in no hurry any where, and even his stance - slightly crouched with his shoulders up, he sat on the stool as if lounging in what could only be called as an introvert manner - was that of someone who did not bother with pointless pleasantries.

"You could say that I reside in the States when it suits me," he finally explained vaguely. He knew better than to start spilling the story of his life, or even seemingly small snippets about himself to strangers. Knowledge, in his opinion, was the most important aspect of power. "It was 2004 only yesterday before I came here. Then I met a witch, and as far as I know, there are no witches from where I come from. I have a feeling the Planet messes with more than just time."

"2004? You're a few years ahead of me", Sonya admitted. "The last I remember it was 1993". It was a little weird to meet someone from the future because since Sonya arrived here she had only meet people from way back in the past. She still had yet to meet anyone from the 20th century but Jigen was the closest since he was probably born in that century. Then he mentioned the witch but considering Sonya had encounter a sorcerer in the past, she wasn't too shocked.

"I don't know. It's kind of surprising what actually exists in a so-called normal world. My life was pretty ordinary for a solider up until a couple of years ago. Then I learned how weird the world really is". She didn't make a comment on his observation that she was unusual though, partly because she had heard it before from tons of other guys. A woman with her experiences and training was even unusual for the military at times but compared to the people around here, she didn't seem to be too unusual.

"What can I say? I like my drinks simple", she finally said in response to the whiskey comment. "As for the lack of housewives and office workers, I think the planet is making a conscious effort to take people who are...unusual", she finished after a pause, before taking a sip of her drink. "Which I have to admit, leaves to wonder what makes you unusual but I'll understand if you don't feel like sharing."

The golem brought their drinks without a word, and Jigen pulled his scotch closer. He glanced at the woman briefly with a dark expression and then took a heavy sip of the golden liquid in the glass contemplating on what to say, if anything. Unlike the young Tonks he had met on the previous day, Sonya was a soldier, and by the looks of it far from an innocent little girl and not easily shaken. He had refused to even explain to Tonks - who had never seen a gun before - how it worked, but it was far too late to shelter Sonya.

Very well then, let's make things a little more interesting, he thought.

"Unusual?" he repeated and continued without looking at her, without smiling, simply stating an unpleasant fact. "Where I come from, you can find a picture of me on Interpol's Most Wanted wall. It's actually a pretty good photo, too," he added with a hint of dark humor, and took a smoke of his cigarette. He was keeping a wary eye from under his hat on Sonya, however, and how she would react to hearing that.

Sonya should have known. She couldn't hide her surprise when Jigen admitted to being a criminal but after a moment decided it shouldn't have surprised her. It did however, put the solider in a difficult position. Part of her job involved apprehending criminals but she couldn't just slap the cuffs on Jigen just because he claimed to be a criminal.

First, she didn't have cuffs. Second, she didn't have proof. He could be bullshitting me, Sonya thought but judging by the look on his face, Sonya didn't think so. Besides, even if he is, what are you doing to do here about it?

"Really?" Sonya finally said, a skeptic note in her voice. "Not many criminals would admit to that unless either they're proud of that accomplishment or they just don't give a shit. Care to tell me why Interpol is after you?"

"That was a good way of putting it," Jigen answered and shrugged. "I don't give a shit. You asked, I saw no reason of making up stories for you. As for why..." he looked at her and gave a wry smile. "I hope you will never have to find out."

Then he looked away again looking really like he was not proud of what he did for a living, but after a lifetime of drifting on the shadowy side, it had become necessary. He emptied the scotch glass, then pushed it further away for the bartender golem to gather.

"Another one," he told the golem, and dropped ash from his cigarette on the ashtray. He seemed like he had forgotten about Sonya's existence or like he was ignoring her as he smoked quietly and said nothing more, and asked no questions in turn. It was hard to tell from his demeanor if he did not care for her company, or if he simply was an introvert sort that did not do well with small talk.

Either the crime or crimes Jigen had committed where really bad or he felt regret about them Sonya concluded from his words. It was probably best if Sonya didn’t know she realized because if it was really bad then she’d almost feel compelled to do something about it and this was not the time nor the place for such actions.

The silence grew between them but Sonya didn’t feel compelled to break it. Instead she focused on her own thoughts and took another sip of her drink as she tried to figure out what to do now.

Maybe I should just drop the subject. If I hear about him causing trouble then I’ll do something but until then I’ll leave it alone. Outloud, Sonya brought up a different subject. “I don’t suppose you’ve given any thought to getting off this rock, have you?”

"I have," he answered exhaling smoke as he spoke. "There's just little I can do with that storm outside," he nodded towards the windows, and even though you could not see anything from the dark night you could hear the raging wind.

"I figured it would be smarter to wait for the storm to calm before exploring rather than poking around blindly, getting lost and injured out there," he explained with a solemn tone. "Even if I prefer good ol' Earth, I have enough time to wait for better chances. Tactics. You should know all about it," he then added and glanced at the woman.

After a pause, he finally asked something in return. "Where were you stationed?"

“I’m with the Special Forces and right now I’m supposed to be in the states, at MacDill Air Force Base but that’s because I’m currently under review right now. Before then I was stationed in Hong Kong”, Sonya replied. None of it was classified so she had no trouble telling Jigen the truth. “Although since I’ve no doubt missed my meetings with my commander I’m probably in a lot of shit and if I don’t get home in the next 23 days then I’m going to considered AWOL ....again”, Sonya admitted with a slight sigh. Like she wasn’t already in enough trouble back at the base.

“So far it seems the universe seems to love fucking with my career”, She added while gesturing the golem. “Another please”. As the golem poured up another whiskey sour for the blonde solider, Sonya watched him for a few seconds before speaking again. “You’re right, it is better to wait for the weather to break. If we’re lucky this place will still look the same. I was looking around my first few days here, trying to come up with some sort of plan before everything changed”.

She glanced at Jigen curiously, “Did anyone tell you this place can change its appearance?”
