Hurricane Party!
Who: Ginny and the other residents of the resort
What: Hurricane Party!
When: Day 10, around 7 PM.
Where: The White Sands Resort Bar and Club
Rating: PG? I don't know what crazy shenanigans are going to occur.
Status: In progress.

Ginny hated being stuck indoors.

She almost literally been trying to climb the walls in her frustration when she'd decided to throw a hurricane party. She hadn't met many of the residents, and figured if there was anyone else as irritated at being stuck inside then they'd appreciate the change of scenery. It'd also give people a chance to mingle and meet. She wondered if there were others from her world here besides Tonks.

The planet had been most accomodating to her ideas. The club was currently themed for a luau, and small lanterns shed a soft glow over numerous smaller groupings of tables as well as over the dance floor and bar. She hadn't been sure what the other residents might eat, so she'd asked for a large selection of snacks. The bar was well-stocked as well. She didn't recognize all of the things stocked, but she did notice a bottle of Firewhiskey and what appeared to be butterbeer.

Now all this party needed was people. Maybe she'd get to see Max again.

This was getting ridiculous. Elves, all of them, need to be outside in nature very often, or it wasn't exactly healthy for their mental health. This storm, however, was making that quite impossible, and Legolas was just about bored enough to see what would happen if he shot one of the golems in the head with an arrow. He wasn't quite stupid enough to do that, but it was getting close.

He'd had a long, and in parts, very interesting, day. First, meeting the young Queen, and then heading off to breakfast with Aragorn. The Ranger had been very quiet, which Legolas supposed was natural. He'd left the elf alone fairly quickly, and he'd been on his own all day. Hence, of course, the boredom that he'd felt through the majority of the day, so when he remembered the party, he immediately decided to go.

A quick trip back to his room and he was dressed like the Prince he was, but so seldom appeared. A silver-blue velvet tunic seemed the perfect thing to him, considering he had no idea what anyone would be wearing. Just as an extra touch, he put his delicate mithril crown on his head, and leaving all his weapons except one knife hidden in a boot, he headed off to the party.

It wasn't at all hard to find, and was in fact in full swing when he got there. He'd had no idea what to expect, though he'd been to both Elven and Human parties. Nothing could have prepared him for what he saw walking in. He blinked, dark eyes darting around the room, looking for anyone he knew. He saw several people, but not Aragorn or anyone unoccupied already. At least, not until he scanned the wall, and saw a rather strange looking human. She had odd hair... he quite liked it.

Making a quick decision, he went over to the table, delighted to see they had the elven honey cakes of which he was so fond. He scooped one up and nibbled on a corner as he made his way over to the female human. When he was close enough to be seen and heard, he stopped and bowed slightly to her.

"Do you mind if I join you? I have come too late to the party, I fear, and everyone I know is already occupied. I enjoy making new friends, though, unless you are adverse."

His father would have been horrified, and not only because he was making friendly overtures towards a human. Elves were normally much more subtle than that, but Legolas had less than no patience for the political games others of his rank seemed to play with ease.

Michiru had watched the strange looking young man thread through the crowd. Her eye had been caught by the rich colors of his clothing, and the rather odd styling of it. She watching him with interest as she nibbled at her food. She had to admit, grudgingly, that this planet was at least good at making food.

She stiffened slightly as he approached her, an instinctive reaction considering her recent interactions here. She forced herself to relax as he bowed and greeted her. Finally! Someone with _proper_ manners. She returned the bow and gave him a polite, mostly friendly smile.

"Feel free to join me. You are better off than I" she said as she scanned the crowd. "I know almost no one here, and the few I do know, I hardly wish to see."

She returned the bow much more readily than most humans would, and he found himself sort of instinctively liking her. A lot of people thought elves were all light-hearted mischief, but of course, the undying race were more than that. They had rituals and customs, and of course, one of these was politeness. After all, when you live forever, it's best not too make too many enemies among your own people.

"Thank you for your offer, then. I shall."

He stood beside her, his sharp eyes scanning the crowded room just as she did. He saw all sorts of things that amused him, and many that he knew by sight but few that he'd actually spoken to. That surpised him, had he been so antisocial? Very unlike him.

"I think I need to speak with more of these people... everyday, the Planet seemed to bring more poor souls here. Oh, before I forget my manners further, I am called Legolas. A pleasure."

"I am Michiru Kaioh" she said with a polite nod of her head. She wondered at his lack of a family name, but felt it wouldn't be polite to ask. "I can't say I've met too many people here myself. And those that I have..."

She looked at him out of the corner of her eye, trying not to be too obvious. He was very different from most males she knew. Dressed differently, and even seemed to carry himself with far more grace than she was use to seeing. And his ears... She'd not seen anyone with quite that much point to their ears. She wondered if there was a polite way to ask.

He frowned a little as she introduced herself by what he figured must be her full name. It wasn't like any name he had heard in his life, but then, that was a commonplace occurance. What bothered him was that he'd been rude. So he turned to her and bowed once more.

"Michiru Kaioh... I am Prince Legolas Greenleaf of Mirkwood. May the Valar smile on our meeting."

Much more formal, and of course, he was at a party. Even if most of these people didn't seem to see this as a particularly formal affair. That didn't mean he should forget his manners, especially not when he was around someone that would clearly appreciate them.

"I have met a few, and most were pleasant enough. The one exception, though..."

The elf made an expression of distaste as he finished off his honey cake, but it had nothing to do with the pastry and everything to do with the arrogant, rude, nasty human he had met several days ago. He turned back to her, and smiled slightly as he saw her glancing at his ears. He laughed softly, musically, as he often did.

"But that is not something worth ruining this evening with. Tell me, Michiru, have you never seen an elf before? You would hardly be the first among this crowd, I should think... in my land, while we are diminishing, we are not as uncommon."

Michiru started slightly at his full introduction. He was like no prince she'd ever met. Though to be fair, she'd only met one, and he was technically a future prince. She nibbled some more at her food, considering. She blinked in surprise as he said he was a elf. Normally she'd chalk a comment like that up to the speaker having mental issues, but here it seemed that might actually be possible.

"No I haven't" she said, feeling slightly embarrassed that he'd noticed her interest. "Where I am from we do not have... elves"

He really was mischievious, at times. It amused him slightly that she was slightly startled by his introduction. Of course, most people were surprised when they learned he was a Prince. He just didn't seem all that regal, he supposed, so he mostly attributed her reaction to that.

"Well, Lady Michiru, we are even. For if you have never seen an elf before, I've never seen anyone with hair like yours. At least, not on my own world." Most people would have thought to ask if it was natural, but of course, he had no way of knowing that, in some places, people had ways of coloring their hair. "It's lovely, and suits you somehow."

She laughed inspite of herself. Men always asked about her hair. She tossed it slightly and smiled up at him.

"Thank you, you're very gracious. Might I ask what you were eating? They looked delicious." Food was always a good conversation topic.

At least he hadn't offended her. He'd thought, belatedly, that his words could have been taken wrong, as an insult. Some people didn't like these things pointed out. He was relieved to hear her laugh.

"You are quite welcome..."

Her question had the blond elf raising his eyebrows and smiling a little as he walked over to the table, which had a tray of the honey cakes that were among his favorite.

"I do not know how the Planet does it, but it has discovered one of my only weaknesses. These are a sort of cake made with honey that my people make. Try one, you will like it."

His own words convinced him, anyway, and he selected and started nibbling on another of the sweet, light, fluffy pastries.

Michiru followed him to the table and carefully picked up one of the indicated cakes, wincing slightly as her still raw fingertips touched the food. She bit into it delicately and was surprised to find that it was indeed quite sweet.

"Very nice" she said appreciatively. The flavor was a bit less layered than she was used to but it was quite tasty. She glanced out at the general party again as the music switched to a slightly more classical song.

"Do you dance?" she asked. It wouldn't be the same, but she enjoyed dance and this strange elf man seemed interesting. You could tell a lot about a person by dancing with them

Dark elven eyes widened as he saw her fingers. Most people might not even notice, but he was very perceptive. He looked up at her face, slightly alarmed, and then gestured gracefully towards her fingers.

"Are you alright? What happened to your hands?"

He was glad she liked the cake, and had suspected she would. Humans often liked elven food, and that was apparently true here as well as in Middle Earth. He was happy that he'd been right, though, and that she'd liked it.

"I do dance... but I fear it may be different than the dancing I have seen here. But, if you are willing to indulge me..."

He bowed to her once more, and offered his arm to lead her out onto the dance floor. He didn't know how to dance like the few other people on the dance floor, but he would do his best. He liked dancing, and was pretty sure he could figure it out.

At his question about her hands Michiru flushed slightly and curled the fingers of her more injured hand up to hide the injury. "It's nothing" she said, shaking her head slightly. "I just was a little foolish today." Which was really the cause of her embarrassment. It hurt right now, but would heal, given time. She just should have known better.

At his offer to dance her eyes lit up. It was so nice to finally meet someone here who actually knew how to behave! "It would hardly be an indulgence. An honor perhaps. I'm not too familiar with this sort of dancing either. We can learn together perhaps?"

He had seen the cuts on her fingers, and to him, they looked very similar to the cuts he got on his fingers when he practiced too long with his bow. But she didn't have the muscle structure in her forearms to be an archer, he could tell that from first glance. Interesting, really. He wanted to look closer, but she had shown a lack of interest in sharing, and he wasn't going to pry.

"The honor, my Lady, is all mine."

He took her hand in his and tucked it into the crook of his arm before turning and leading them towards the dance floor. He watched as the other people on the floor danced, and hoped he could get this right. He leaned over to whisper to Michiru.

"I do not know about this dancing... it seems to be little more just slightly moving to music. Elven dancing is much different... what dances do you know? Perhaps I would learn them more easily than these strange ones..."

"Isn't all dance just moving with the music?" Michiru asked as she let Legolas lead her out to the floor. She gave him a crooked smile and tilted her head to listen to the music for a moment. Yes, there was indeed a pretty simple beat under the melody. She took his hands and let herself start to feel the rhythm. She moved in time, with small steps, side to side.

"Most of what I know are couples dances. Waltzes, formal ones like that. But here, I think its just letting yourself get caught in the rhythms." She tossed her hair back and looked up at the elf with interest. He was interesting. Far more interesting than most men she met. And quite handsome in a strange way.

He thought about what she said, really thought about it. Of course, he'd been dancing for nearly a thousand years, almost as long as he'd been alive. But, strangely, he'd never considered what actually makes dancing, dancing. Now that he did, though, he realized she was completely correct.

"Yes... yes, I believe that will make it easier..."

Following her lead, and being very music, he listened intently, and soon, was moving in step with her. Maybe they wouldn't win any dance competitions, but they wern't any worse than some of the other people on the dance floor. The elf had a sort of natural grace when he moved around at the most normal of times, but when he was dancing, even as simply as this, it was enhanced.

"I do not know this waltz you speak of... I would be grateful if you would show me sometime..."

He tilted his head to the side and looked at her thoughtfully. For a human, she was very graceful. He wondered if she could handle the elven dances that most humans merely tripped through, if they could do them at all.

She watched as her felt the music and started moving with her. He moved with such ease and grace, it was amazing.

"Maa, are you sure you've never danced like this before?" she said jokingly. "I'd be happy to teach you to waltz, but it needs a three-beat song." She'd never had to teach someone to lead before, but surely with his grace it wouldn't be too hard.

"What are you thinking?" she asked, noticing his thoughtful look

He wouldn't have thought such a simple dance would be this much fun. It was nothing at all like the dances of his people, not the primitive dances of the silvan elves, nor the stately, refined dancing of the elves of Lothlorien or Imladris. This was just a very simple moving of one's body to music with a definate beat.

"I am certain, yes. There is no music like this anywhere on my world."

Not being content for long with keeping things as simple as other people where, he started improvising a little, adding flourishes to his movements. Her question amused him, and he laughed as he took her lightly around the waist and spun her quickly in a tight circle before releasing her once more. He responded honestly, as was his habit.

"I was wondering if I could teach you to dance like an elf. You have a graceful way about you."

Michiru laughed as he spun her around. She was having almost enough fun dancing with him to forget everything that had happened the past few days.

"Here, I'll teach you to waltz, and you can teach me elven dance. You are very good at thi..." her voice trailed off as a casual look past him gave her a glance of a familiar blond figure sitting at the bar. She stumbled slightly, and blinked, but by the time she'd recovered, people had moved, once again blocking her line of sight.

"That's not funny Planet..." she muttered. Surely it couldn't be, could it?

He was enjoying himself with this aqua-haired girl. She wasn't very much like the other humans he knew. Of course, he didn't really know many other humans, but still. He was having a lot of fun, and it took his mind off everything he'd been thinking over the past day.

"I will accept that offer gladly. Although perhaps here and now are not the best time and place. Elven music would not fit well with these settings, I fear."

He was very perceptive, and noticed when she started and looked over at the bar. He looked at her pensively for a moment.

"Do you wish to go? I would not stop you, though I have enjoyed your company."

"I... I don't know" she said, still trying to get a glimpse of the bar area. She dragged her attention back to the elf and gave him a embarrassed look up through her lashes.

"Forgive me. This planet is playing tricks on me I'm sure, but I thought I saw someone..." She shook herself slightly and gave him a half smile. "We will have to dance together some time. I would like to learn from you."

He smiled, a real, genuine expression when she said that. He could tell it was someone important to her that she'd thought she'd seen, and that touched him.

"I know something of this, only in my case, it was who I thought it was. You should go. You may have the same experience."

He bowed to her again, very politely, and when he spoke again, he was sincere and obviously so.

"I have truly enjoyed this, and someday, if you will it so, I would very much like to meet you again to learn of your dances, and teach you mine. Farewell, Michiru Kaioh."
