I really don't know. [He's run over this so many times in his head now he doesn't even know where to start anymore or what actually has a chance of working.] I feel like it's just so difficult to get him to talk about things sometimes. Remember when we first got here and you and I had to practically trick him into agreeing to blue bands because he wouldn't talk about it? I worry sometimes that attitude hasn't reallly changed and that it's always going to be impossible to get him to listen.

I tried the other day and it went about as well as you'd expect. [He's had enough time to cool off a bit, enough to admit that maybe the whole debacle wasn't entirely Jack's fault the way it had seemed at the time.]

It seems like we only really talk about our feelings when there's some sort of crisis that forces us to. And even then it's hard. You know how impossible it is to get him to open up about anything.

[She's intentionally being noncommittal as to judgements. It's hard when she's friends with both of them... and actually knows both of them. But it feels necessary.]

I have a challenge for you, Ianto. Once a day, I want you to share something with Jack. Something that happened that day and how it made you feel. It can be mundane. It can be good or bad. Just try sharing it. See what happens. I know it's not him talking about his feelings, but if you open up, it might help him open up a little bit.

I can try. You know opening up doesn't come any easier to me than it does to him. Which is the point of all this, isn't it?
