Oh, you know, same old. [The laughing is different. They were both such unhappy kids it's nice to see that at least has changed. It makes him feel nostalgic. He pauses a little thoughtfully, because it feels like a good moment to take a drink and reflect on all they've been through here, all the people they've lost and everything that's changed. It feels like they haven't even hung out all that much lately. Maybe that's what prompts his next comment when he finally speaks.]

You wanna get dinner sometime? [To catch up and hang out but between the long pause and the sudden change of conversation it would be easy to misunderstand it, to take it as something else. Like, for example asking him out on a date. Surely they would never have a classic misunderstanding like that, though! Not these two!]

[He takes advantage of the silence and nurses his own drink, taking in the atmosphere. He hadn't cared for it when he was younger, but the dome offered few alternatives. Kanji's invitation catches him off guard, and it takes a second for the question to register.]

You want to go out with me? To dinner?
