[Closed to Spike]

[Some things haven't changed much in twenty years. Appearances are one of them when vampires are involved, and so is waking up together. They've had their ups and downs over the years but he still loves this part, and now that it's just the two of them he finds he values it even more and he curls around to kiss him sleepily as he stirs awake.

There are other signs of the fact that he's split up with Jack if anyone looks hard enough. There's not a suit to be seen - those were always Jack's favorite. And he's taken to wearing the skull ring Spike gave to him all those years ago, during their game engagement. He has it on his right hand, not his ring finger but it's still a silent enough symbol of what relationship he's committed to just now and some days he's not sure if he cares more about Spike or Jack noticing it.]

[Around the dome]

[Some parts of his routine haven't changed at all. You can still probably run into him at the library, the coffee shop, around the dome anywhere really. It is just a average day after all. Nothing unusual happening for once.]

[ A lot can happen in a couple of decades but while it's been a bit touch and go from time to time, Spike is nothing if not fiercely loyal. Staying with Ianto was never a question for him, especially after Jack split off on his own and truth be told, he prefers this. He was always good with the quiet domestic side of things, the waking up together, heating up a cup of blood in the microwave, going through the daily motions and knowing how goddamn lucky you are to still be here. Yes, he's noticed the ring, the change of clothes. He knows how lucky he is.

Twenty years in prison. It's not a lot of time when you live forever but still more than he ever expected to spend here. Groaning softly, he stirs at the kiss, flopping an arm over Ianto's waist. ]

Go back to sleep.

[Maybe it was inevitable, the two of them. It's certainly always felt that way, right from the very begining. It seemed to feel like it more and more as they years went on and little things distanced Jack from the two of them. He never really expected him to stay tied down once the bands vanished and after that it was only a matter of time. And you know what? He's actually alright with that. In moments like this, waking up warm and happy in Spike's arms is a perfect reminder of why they fell for each other in the first place, and why the good of the past twenty years has far outweighed the bad.

He ignores the instructions and nuzzles closer, pressing another sleepy kiss against his lips.]
Do you want me to stop then?

[ He makes another sleepy noise in response but seems to be coming out of it a little more, waking in earnest and snuggling in close, arm shifting to slide under the covers instead, going steadily down. ]

Didn't say that. [ Lazily groping Ianto's butt. ]

Oh good. I wouldn't want you to miss your beauty sleep. [He wiggles closer, warm and content and very much in the mood to make out a bit this morning. Twenty years later and he still feels giddy, head over heels for him. He still loves kissing him, loves feeling those hands on his body. His own glide down to wrap around Spike's waist, pulling him closer so he can press up against him.]

What's that supposed to mean? [ Are you saying he's not beautiful. Not that he'd care much if that was the case, what with how comfortable he is right now. Never getting bored of this. ]

A completely innocent figure of speech with no ulterior motive. Probably. [No, never getting tired of this. He doesn't deserve how good this is, not with how things started out, with Spike so patiently sharing him for so long. Right now, on mornings like this when he feels so lucky and in love and happy he wishes he could change the way all this started. If he could go back in time tomorrow he'd do it differently, end things with Jack right then and there and do something to deserve the way Spike has always adored him. Lucky they won't go back tomorrow, lucky that thought won't be there to haunt him.] Hungry? I can bring over breakfast in bed.

Terrible vampire romance novels. As I am not a teenage girl I suspect I'm not quite the intended audience. [That dry humor of his hasn't changed at all. Then again not much has with him. Physically he looks the same as he ever did. Perhaps a bit paler, a bit colder to the touch, and of course there's the lack of suits just now and the skull ring. He puts his book aside and smiles, taking another sip of his drink.]

So? What brings you here today? [Which is code for an invitation to sit and gossip like they always do.]

True, that I can't argue with.

There's a cooking section just down there. Turn right at the end of this row and head five shelves down and you should be able to spot it. I'm not sure if they have anything specifically dedicated to Russian cooking or not. [He was never much of a cook to begin with but he has absolutely no use for it now.]

[Tieria was poking through today's selections, having become a fairly regular patron as he was attempting to keep track of the changes and shifting selections available. It wasn't hard for him, though he might seem a little more tired than usual today, and had showed up a little later than usual, as well, both signs that he had poked at the computer systems again the night before.

Having found a few new titles, thanks to a sharp memory, he walked over to the front desk to log them in. He gave Ianto a quick nod.]

Find anything interesting today?

[He'd gotten better at small talk over the years.]

I suppose it depends on your definition of interesting. [After this long even the library gets a bit repetitive some times. He manages a smile anyway. At this point there aren't that many people in this dome, so it ain't exactly difficult to keep up with them or guess what has him looking so tired.]

More computer work?

[He sighed slightly and then nodded.]

I've been thinking. Certainly this place will outlast some of the current residents, but... [He frowned.] What about those of us who don't exactly age the same way? How long will this place continue to operate and function in order to sustain us?

We will eventually need to find a way out, if only to save ourselves in the event Marina shuts down.

[They were lucky the last place didn't shut down and kill them all just for the heck of it, that they'd been transferred. But, if it happened again? Tieria wasn't willing to take that chance.

Plus, he wasn't completely ready to give up on his real home, yet. Maybe because he aged slower, or almost not at all. Maybe because he desperately missed having a real purpose like he did back home. He wasn't sure of his reasons, but he'd been created to carry out a Plan, and he'd spent the last 21 years completely not working on it.

It was a little frustrating, despite his best efforts to let go of things for Neil's sake.]

[He frowns, thoughtful and a little worried.] I hadn't actually considered that. I've been more worried on what we do when there's only a few of us left stuck here but that's a good point. If this place is built to sustain a certain population what happens when we dip below that?

Exactly.

I haven't really discussed it with anyone else, yet, but it's been on my mind for a while.

[Mostly since he'd started really noticing the signs of aging in others around him... namely, Neil.]

And, I'm not sure if it's really worth discussing with certain other people anyway.

[Such as those who likely wouldn't have to worry thanks to their mortality. But that seemed like such a difficult topic to approach.]

I see your point. If we don't have enough information it might cause a panic. Maybe it might be best to limit it to people who can really help for now? Those who understand the system and can take a closer look at it?

[Chekov and Ianto know each other, of course. Even if the dome wasn't as small as it is, they both spend enough time in the library and with Kitty that they inevitably cross paths with some frequency.

Chekov approaches him at the coffee shop, smiling uncertainly. He knows that he hasn't been the most cheerful company lately; sometimes he's hesitant to inflict himself on people who aren't close friends.]

[There probably isn't anyone in the dome he doesn't know at this point. There's no one new and only a limited number of them here now. It's been a long time since there have been any new faces here. And given what good friends he is with Kitty it was only a matter of time before Chekov got added to that list of friends as well.]
