[The lack of sunlight was a sure sign of something going wrong today. Another was a missing message from their warden so by the time an announcement rolled around about aggressive beasts being released, Soushi was ready. He had on comfortable clothing, shoes fit for running and his communicator in place before leaving his apartment behind.

While Soushi hadn't been exactly expecting to be faced with a dinosaur, there's no denying that there's one standing in front of him now.

He raises a hand towards it and a black sphere blooms into existence right where the raptor had been. When the sphere blinks out, the dinosaur is gone.

That took a bit out of him. It's the first time Soushi's done it but knows he shouldn't feel like this after. So if he happens to lean on the nearest flat surface, looking tired, that's why.

Don't mind him.]

[Fear isn't something that's really got a good grip on Soushi - not even back when he was facing his own assimilation. He controls it and not the other way around so when he hits a fear spot, Soushi grits his teeth, clenches his hand tight and keeps walking while ignoring the sensation creeping up his back.

That one that causes hair to stand on end and goosebumps to form down his arms.

He focuses on other things. People around him that might need help instead.]

[Kazuki isn't so lucky.

There's a sting wound along one of his arms, but by the time he notices, there's something far more alarming that has his complete attention. He was only just meeting up with Soushi again, but clearly not expecting to see what he is. The fact that he, too, is now overcome by fear doesn't help in the slightest.

Kazuki doesn't hear his question.]

Soushi—!

[Golden eyes wide, all he sees of the other is his head, the rest of him engulfed in a mass of green crystals. From his perspective, Soushi is slowly losing consciousness.]

N-No. No! [His eyes begin to well up, which he furiously tries to blink away. They're only a nuisance.] I won't lose you again. Not here, too—!

[His hands, now also glowing a brilliant gold, move to grasp both of Soushi's forearms, but his attempts to reverse the affects of the assimilation seems to completely fail.

What's worse is, the effort put behind his actions only steadily drains his energy, and he's failing to remain on his feet.]

[It's dark and he doesn't see Kazuki right away. No, their connection is what causes his head to jerk in the direction his friend is coming from before the sound of his voice does. His eyes dart to the wound once Soushi is aware of it but can't really see it either.

Before he can do anything, Kazuki is gripping his arms and attempting... no. Kazuki is trying to save him, not assimilate him. Except there is nothing wrong with him - no crystals forming and not even any injuries.]

Kazuki! [His own hands come up to grip the other any way he can, which just so happens to land them on the other's sides. Soushi pulls the other closer and nearly sags when the other starts to go limp. He isn't physically strong and isn't capable of holding them both up for very long but he's certainly going to try.

So he drags the other closer until they're pressed together and he attempts to take Kazuki's weight, to keep them both upright because collapsing here is not something they can afford to do. Not with the other weakening and his own powers just as draining.]

I'm fine. I'm right here. [He drops his head until his forehead is pressed against Kazuki's. His voice isn't loud but is firm, determined to reach through this haze clouding his friend's mind.]

No, instead he continues to try and make all of this situation right. The wasp venom seems to have also sharpened his senses (even more, to some degree). Or at least that's the only plausible reason behind it, because along with his consciousness, to Kazuki, Soushi's heartbeat also sounds like it's beginning to fade. It only brings up more tears, which he chokes back while trying to simply breathe properly.

This can't be happening. It can't. Not again! He's had these dreams before, back home, to which he never lets on to. Only Maya has ever approached him about them - as always - but he brushes it all off. Which he should, because he's accepted what's happened. He's at peace with Soushi's fate.

. . .Although that doesn't mean it never hurts.

Which is all he can feel right now. Hurt and afraid— terrified. Even as Soushi fully embraces him, Kazuki's hold begins to tremble. Although their eyes do meet, regardless of the tears, he seems to not be able to see the real Soushi at all, his focus completely elsewhere.

Slowly. Very slowly, then, does Soushi's voice begin to filter in. Steady and assuring, not strained or broken. It's a more resounding sensation and audible in his head than it is falling from Soushi's lips. There is no sharp or jagged feeling of the crystals digging back against him, only the warmth of the other's body. Another few long moments before he begins to cling, himself, albeit still shakily. His eyes tightly squeeze shut. His teeth also grit, fingers now curling in their hold against Soushi, as if futher trying to convince himself that it really all was something only in his mind.]
