DAY 365 — Anniversary Festival Mingle

Happy Day 365, Marina Nova!

Hear ye, hear ye! Inmates, prisoners, fellow underwater dwellers! Lend me your ears and hands and actually just bring all of you because we're having a ye olde Renaissance Faire to celebrate a full year in this bubble under the sea!

The dome has of course been decked out appropriately. Flickering torches light the pathways, interspersed with larger bonfires that you can cosy up to with that special someone - or perhaps just a glass of honey mead. Pennant banners hang across the gates and along the buildings, sporting the proud coat of arms of the prison (a lot of purple and octopi, for some reason) and many of the clothing stores offer time-appropriate options for those of you who still knows how to have fun. The kiosk has even been re-imagined into a castle.

Many areas within the dome has activities to partake in and, if you're skilled or lucky or both, prizes to win!

Sector 5 Gamegrounds: What better way to show your bravery than by participating in a series of tests of strength and cunning? Sector 5 provides the inmates with a chance to try such varied sports as varpa, caber tossing, ring toss or the very dignified sport of rövkrok, a type of wrestling that requires skill as well as no sense of shame. Not tough enough for you? There are also friendly foam weapons and armor available for those who want to engage in a chivalrous bout of hand to hand combat, test your archery skills — or maybe convince another prisoner to give you a piggyback ride and go jousting!

Competitors that do well enough and show outstanding bravery may be rewarded with a handful of rehab points, or a personalized pennant — or maybe a kiss from the lord or lady of your choosing!

Less violent activities: Not into skewering your neighbors on spears? Maybe you'd rather relax with a game of knucklebones, pick up sticks or Nine Men's Morris. Boards and instructions are readily available in several areas. If you're more creatively inclined there's also activity tables on offer where you can create your own coat of arms, bind yourself a flower crown or learn the art of illumination.

Food: The food carts in sector 0 are now carrying food fit for the occasion. Whole roasted pigs and poultry, wild rabbit in plum sauce, thick beef stews smelling of rich saffron, roasted vegetables (no potatoes here, no sir!) and cream-stewed cabbage for the vegetarians among us. If you're still hungry there's saffron pancake, ginger and clove cookies or bread pudding with raisins for dessert. There's plenty of mulled wine, honey mead, foaming beer, honeyd applewater and lingonberry juice to wash it down with. Enjoy!

Dance: As is custom, there will be a dance at the beach at the end of the day. Great fires will roar and a band of robots will strike up music suitable for dancing! Dress up in your finest satin and velvet, brush the extrement off your shoes and grab a partner!

Enjoy!

Unfortunately not. [Although she wishes that she could. Not remembering... has always been a frustration and painful in her life. So to have it happen again, well- it's upsetting.]

My reasons for having forgotten at home were different, so... I'm not sure what I could hope to do in order to remember here.

I suppose not. But at least you still remember the things you would have been told about forgetting. [Was that an awkward condolence as well as an awkward sentence?]

It's fine. I mean- I've dealt with it already. [She hasn't remembered for a while now!]

The important bits I think people shared anyway. I'm okay with things now

Yes, well, and now you're back with us to move forward and make new memories again.

I'm glad for that.

[Not to be in prison. But to continue on her friendship with the people who are still here.]

I'm grateful that in the time I've been here, there have been people that I've been able to come to depend on.

I feel the same way. It's hard to imagine a life where I never met the people here. [Then again that life is death, so of course it's hard to imagine.]

Funny how we can say that about a prison...

It is, but we certainly aren't in a typical prison.

I wish that it was! [As weird as that sounds. She sighs.] A real one would be so much easier to get out of.

But not so nice to stay in.

Nng... I guess then we just have to consider the trade off.

I know it's more important for the people who want to be home to be there. But...we can't wish these things into being either. [So no need to feel guilty about enjoying it?]

True enough. Lets just enjoy the good moments for now.

This festival seems like a good moment. What should we do first?

Nng... [Chin in hand she considers that a moment.] I'm not really familiar with any of the games. [And certain physical ones seems like it would be unfair.]

Have you made a flower crown yet?

(Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

I figure it can kind of fade out around here?

I haven't, but I'd like to. [She offers her arm so they can go arm in arm. A playful sort of thing she hasn't done since she and Nunnally were children before... well, before everything.]
