DAY 365 — Anniversary Festival Mingle

Happy Day 365, Marina Nova!

Hear ye, hear ye! Inmates, prisoners, fellow underwater dwellers! Lend me your ears and hands and actually just bring all of you because we're having a ye olde Renaissance Faire to celebrate a full year in this bubble under the sea!

The dome has of course been decked out appropriately. Flickering torches light the pathways, interspersed with larger bonfires that you can cosy up to with that special someone - or perhaps just a glass of honey mead. Pennant banners hang across the gates and along the buildings, sporting the proud coat of arms of the prison (a lot of purple and octopi, for some reason) and many of the clothing stores offer time-appropriate options for those of you who still knows how to have fun. The kiosk has even been re-imagined into a castle.

Many areas within the dome has activities to partake in and, if you're skilled or lucky or both, prizes to win!

Sector 5 Gamegrounds: What better way to show your bravery than by participating in a series of tests of strength and cunning? Sector 5 provides the inmates with a chance to try such varied sports as varpa, caber tossing, ring toss or the very dignified sport of rövkrok, a type of wrestling that requires skill as well as no sense of shame. Not tough enough for you? There are also friendly foam weapons and armor available for those who want to engage in a chivalrous bout of hand to hand combat, test your archery skills — or maybe convince another prisoner to give you a piggyback ride and go jousting!

Competitors that do well enough and show outstanding bravery may be rewarded with a handful of rehab points, or a personalized pennant — or maybe a kiss from the lord or lady of your choosing!

Less violent activities: Not into skewering your neighbors on spears? Maybe you'd rather relax with a game of knucklebones, pick up sticks or Nine Men's Morris. Boards and instructions are readily available in several areas. If you're more creatively inclined there's also activity tables on offer where you can create your own coat of arms, bind yourself a flower crown or learn the art of illumination.

Food: The food carts in sector 0 are now carrying food fit for the occasion. Whole roasted pigs and poultry, wild rabbit in plum sauce, thick beef stews smelling of rich saffron, roasted vegetables (no potatoes here, no sir!) and cream-stewed cabbage for the vegetarians among us. If you're still hungry there's saffron pancake, ginger and clove cookies or bread pudding with raisins for dessert. There's plenty of mulled wine, honey mead, foaming beer, honeyd applewater and lingonberry juice to wash it down with. Enjoy!

Dance: As is custom, there will be a dance at the beach at the end of the day. Great fires will roar and a band of robots will strike up music suitable for dancing! Dress up in your finest satin and velvet, brush the extrement off your shoes and grab a partner!

Enjoy!

[ she doesn't, and if she's being honest with herself, she has no "real" authority over ton or han while they're in this setting. but the alliance is all she has left, the last living remnants of what her father tried to accomplish, and she's far more invested in bail organa's legacy than she ever sees herself being in anakin skywalker's. authority is all she has left. some days, carrying on like nothing's changed is the only thing keeping her together. ]

It's not bad. Not all the time, anyway. But for me, it's not ideal. I have obligations, a duty to my people as their princess— I can't stay here. Even if I would like to just throw all of that responsibility away and be with Han like I'm any other woman, I can't. That's not who I am, and he knows that.

Okay, sure... you have things back home. A lot of people do but the thing is... we can't just stop living because we're here. I know someone who's been here for the better part of a year and he only just now realized that maybe he should allow himself to settle in a little and be happy. Like, yes, of course, try to find a way home — I want to go home too — but that's bound to take a while.

Maybe it's not ideal, but you're here, now. Alive. Together. [ She sighs. ] Sorry. It's nothing personal, I don't know your situation... it's just frustrating.

Frustrating is a good way of putting it. [ as for the offense: none taken. she understands (and respects) where chuck is coming from, even if she can't share that view for herself. ]

My planet was destroyed four years ago. It's gone. Where Alderaan once was, there's nothing but debris masquerading as an asteroid field. The survivors of my world are displaced and looking to me for the leadership and guidance that my parents once provided them with. They've already lost their homes, their families... I won't let them lose me.

I'm so sorry. [ And she is but she has a feeling Leia isn't the kind of person who appreciates worry and fretting and endless cups of tea, so she'll leave it at this (and maybe leave pie outside their door but that's just business as usual). ]

We'll get you home, one way or the other. But... in the meantime, do you think you could at least try to relax and enjoy it for what it is?

[ were han not here, that request would be followed up with a quip in regards to how well trying to relax seemed to be going for her. but his presence makes a world of difference, and she can't ignore the unique opportunity she's been presented with by being trapped here with him. for as long as they were both here, she wouldn't have to dread the day that she would have to put the needs of her people and the alliance over her heart so much. ]

I don't know if I know how to relax anymore, [ absentmindedly, she traces the line of the blue band peeking out from under her sleeve with one finger ] but I'm trying. It's not the most valiant attempt, but the Death Star wasn't constructed in a day.

Well, this is the best place for it. [ She says in her very limited experience. ] Hey, in the spirit of relaxing and making the most of it... would you like to come over for dinner sometime? You and the general?

Like— [ she did this once, when she and winter were in their early teens and dumping a vase full of water on governor tarkin from unseen balconies was the closest she ever got to ticking off the empire. ] Like a double date?

Yeah! Yeah, like a double date. Casual and relaxed, of course. [ No charades. Probably. ]

I don't see why not. The general and I will gladly join you.

[ look at her agreeing to go on a double date when she and han haven't even been on a real singular one. ]

[ Double dates are like training wheels and who better to do it with than the married couple? They know how it's done, right? Right. ]

Great! Let me know when's good for you. Probably soon though, you never know when they'll bust out the raptors or make everyone sing.

[ pretty sure han and leia skipped the part where you learn to ride with training wheels and just jumped on the bike flying at full speed down a hill. ]

Sometime tomorrow, then? I'll speak with Han, see if he's okay with that.

Tomorrow is fine — I should probably inform Ton too, so he can be appropriately weird. [ She loves her guy. Can you tell? ]

Stay in touch?
