DAY 365 — Anniversary Festival Mingle

Happy Day 365, Marina Nova!

Hear ye, hear ye! Inmates, prisoners, fellow underwater dwellers! Lend me your ears and hands and actually just bring all of you because we're having a ye olde Renaissance Faire to celebrate a full year in this bubble under the sea!

The dome has of course been decked out appropriately. Flickering torches light the pathways, interspersed with larger bonfires that you can cosy up to with that special someone - or perhaps just a glass of honey mead. Pennant banners hang across the gates and along the buildings, sporting the proud coat of arms of the prison (a lot of purple and octopi, for some reason) and many of the clothing stores offer time-appropriate options for those of you who still knows how to have fun. The kiosk has even been re-imagined into a castle.

Many areas within the dome has activities to partake in and, if you're skilled or lucky or both, prizes to win!

Sector 5 Gamegrounds: What better way to show your bravery than by participating in a series of tests of strength and cunning? Sector 5 provides the inmates with a chance to try such varied sports as varpa, caber tossing, ring toss or the very dignified sport of rövkrok, a type of wrestling that requires skill as well as no sense of shame. Not tough enough for you? There are also friendly foam weapons and armor available for those who want to engage in a chivalrous bout of hand to hand combat, test your archery skills — or maybe convince another prisoner to give you a piggyback ride and go jousting!

Competitors that do well enough and show outstanding bravery may be rewarded with a handful of rehab points, or a personalized pennant — or maybe a kiss from the lord or lady of your choosing!

Less violent activities: Not into skewering your neighbors on spears? Maybe you'd rather relax with a game of knucklebones, pick up sticks or Nine Men's Morris. Boards and instructions are readily available in several areas. If you're more creatively inclined there's also activity tables on offer where you can create your own coat of arms, bind yourself a flower crown or learn the art of illumination.

Food: The food carts in sector 0 are now carrying food fit for the occasion. Whole roasted pigs and poultry, wild rabbit in plum sauce, thick beef stews smelling of rich saffron, roasted vegetables (no potatoes here, no sir!) and cream-stewed cabbage for the vegetarians among us. If you're still hungry there's saffron pancake, ginger and clove cookies or bread pudding with raisins for dessert. There's plenty of mulled wine, honey mead, foaming beer, honeyd applewater and lingonberry juice to wash it down with. Enjoy!

Dance: As is custom, there will be a dance at the beach at the end of the day. Great fires will roar and a band of robots will strike up music suitable for dancing! Dress up in your finest satin and velvet, brush the extrement off your shoes and grab a partner!

Enjoy!

[ Haruka is fencing.

Haruka is fencing everyone who wants to fence without breaking a sweat. Haruka may even be able to fence more than one person at the same time and still win the bout.

Haruka is making fencing with a silly foam sword look not only easy, but elegant.

Haruka should probably stop showing off before someone from an actual swordfighting time period shows up, but, eh.... ]

En garde!

[What ho? A foe? 'Tis a sudden challenger! Only despite coming out of nowhere to meet her foam sword head on, it's clear the girl before her is doing so only playfully. It's no fun playng alone, right? Not to mention that she doesn't know how to wield a sword. She's used to wielding a scythe and a staff instead.]

[ Well, isn't this cute. Haruka bats that sword out of the way but doesn't go on the attack herself, interested in seeing what her "opponent" has in store for her next. ] Nice seeing you again, too.

[ Yes, she's pretty sure she remembers you. Even if she'd rather forget most of the rest of what happened the day they met. ]

[She'll be fairly adept for a beginner. While she's no sword expert she is used to reacting quick and handling a weapon at the very least.

It's just she's used to moving differently with it. Nevertheless she moves forward for a foam attack, before smiling.]

Mm. It's good to see you again too. My mind's a little fuzzy to be honest about my stay here. Like remembering a dream for parts, but I still recognize most faces.

[ Haruka parries again. Still no counterattack. Sizing up the enemy before striking is more her style. ] That's too bad.

[ Got to be an awkward way to live. ]

[At the very least she seems more chatty than on the offense.]

Yeah, but remembering anything is better than nothing. [It's upsetting for everyone otherwise.] It doesn't look like much has changed, though.

Not permanently. [ The place still occasionally gets a random overhaul. Today being one of the tamer ones, as they're all still in their own bodies/not drowning/etc.

Her next parry has a touch more force behind it. ]

[She counters in turn, holding her ground and advancing a bit. There's no refined technique, but she has a good handle on the 'weapon'.]

That's a good thing, right?
