Day 331 (strange relations) / Open Video / Picnic Mingle
[Have Euphie's smiling face on the screen. Kanji and I would like to invite you all to a picnic today! Of course we want to see all our family there, but friends and soon-to-be friends too. [That means strangers.]

You don't have to worry about bringing anything, but if you'd like to bring something extra to share or a game that would be fun or even just an extra blanket just in case that would always be welcome.

We'll be in Trois Park near the koi pond and fountain at noon today.

[There will already be some blankets laid out and pink picnic baskets with a variety of food—many of which have been prepared in extra cute ways like rice balls shaped like cats. You probably think this was mostly Euphie's doing, but it was mostly that boyfriend of hers, Kanji.]

[ Chuck may still be stuck in the hideously bright orange jumpsuit, but that's such a terrible excuse to not hang out with family! She'll be there with bells on (and also with the chubby pup Gadget, happily sniffing everything there is to sniff at a picnic) all too happy to talk to people, friends and family alike! ]

[It's hard to miss Chuck in that lovely prison-issued orange jumpsuit. She's so visible, in fact, that Nathan, as deeply involved in his turbulent emotions and Euphie-stalking as he is, notices her. He shouldn't inflict himself on her—he should leave, actually, before anything happens—but she's her and he needs something that he can't go to his mom or sister or Kitty for.

He walks by Gadget (sorry, Gadget) and hugs Chuck without a hello or an explanation, pressing his face to her shoulder.]

[ She was just getting used to not having to drag hugs out of him, so getting one unannounced like this takes her by surprise. This is Chuck tho, the hugging queen and she finds herself quick enough, wrapping her arms tightly around him in turn. Sorry, Gadget. Momma's got something else to worry about now. ]

[He doesn't move, trying to concentrate on Chuck. She's here and alive and brave, and she cares about him even though she's seen how awful he can be. There are a lot of people in Marina he's attached to, but none of them are as perfectly accepting as her. It helps. Just having her hold him helps more than he could have imagined.]

I don't know what's going on. [And then he's crying a little, but it's okay. Chuck said it's okay.]
