Day 300 – Daytime Anniversary Mingle
You may have noticed the veritable fleet of maintenance bots zipping all over the dome throughout the night, working hard to clean up the dome and set up decorations for this momentous occasion. Come morning there isn't a corner left unfestive, with brightly colored garlands hanging across the streets and wrapping around the sector gates. Even the trees have been primped for the occasion, colors changing into rich reds and oranges. Strings of light hang from the branches and lanterns line the streets, here and there broken up by a pile of stacked hay bales perfect for taking a rest on.
Of course, that is far from all! There wouldn't be much of a festival without entertainment and your loving wardens have made absolutely sure that there's something for everyone!
Sector 5 Fairground: Even cozy harvest festivals need some exciting fun — in sector 5 you'll be able to find robotic hayrides, a widespread corn maze (with robot patrols to help you out in case you really do get lost) and an old fashioned ferris wheel.
Game Booths: No festival would be complete without games! Throughout the dome there's a variety of game booths, ranging from the classic ring toss (with pumpkins as targets!) to bobbing for apples and pinning the tail to the scarecrow! In places robots will arrange group games like the threelegged race, sackhopping or the egg-and-spoon race.
The prizes are all of the carnival variety, including but not limited to: stuffed animals, fake tattoos, cheap bracelets and necklaces, stickers, rubber reptiles, silly hats, wiggle snakes and sticky hands or other sticky things.
Performances: The other way to show your skill! There will be a stage set up in Sector 0, complete with sound equipment and instruments suitable for a musical performance — or perhaps just karaoke! If no one is using the stage, it will automatically play randomly selected music with a distinct folksy vibe. Inmates are also welcome to use the stage for improv theater or other performances — there's a basket with simple props and costumes behind the stage for this very purpose.
Food: The food carts in sector 0 are now carrying food fit for the occasion. Mini-pies — both sweet and savory, pierogies, candied apples, corn on the cob, stuffed bell peppers and steaming vats of meaty stews and soups so full of vegetables you won't need your five a day for at least a week. There's plenty of mulled wine, apple cider and hot chocolate to wash it down with. Looking for something to snack on? Small bags of candied nuts, pretzels, roasted pumpkin seeds and cinnamon cookies are readily available for your munchy needs!
