Day 296 — VR MarinaNova — After the doors close
[Maybe you saw a glowing door open and avoided it or maybe you have no idea anything just happened, but you know something is up now because everything just went dark. Seriously dark. No ambient light of any kind. The kind of dark that makes you wonder if something's wrong with your eyes. Oh, and there's a siren going off from the speakers on the floating island. Don't worry, that will end in about thirty minutes, but you're not so lucky when it comes to the dark.

The kiosk was open earlier, but it's gone dead now and the maintenance bots are in the same condition. As a bonus some people are missing too! Welcome to Day 296.]

	[Yuuri is waving one hand in front of him as he moves along slowly, trying to find his way to...well, to anywhere but the middle of nowhere. His other hand is staying flush against his ear until that siren stops. [Normally, the dark doesn't bother him. He's usually quite at home in it. But this is different. He can't see a damn thing, and shadowtravel just gets him from one dark place to another dark place, and he's worried he'll wind up in a dark place he can't get out of. At least, right now, he's in a place with no walls, as far as he can tell. He is going to kill that siren if he ever finds it.

Or maybe he'll just ram into someone.]

[The Darkness led her out of her home and into streets she barely knew in the light. The siren's fills the Darkness, literally fills it, makes it into it's own being with movement and a body that pushes down on top of her own. It presses her towards the ground and Gwen pushes herself further along the dark street, clutching the side of a building, the textures of it under her fingers a lot less real now when she could no longer see them.]

[The siren has already given him a headache. He'd like to hide up under his covers to block the sound, but he doesn't want to be anywhere indoors in this dark. Too risky. He's already disoriented and gotten himself lost a few times now. He's not sure what wall he's got his hand on now.

He perks at the sound of a voice - some other sound that isn't the wail of the siren. Someone not too far ahead, by the sound of it.]

[Sometimes Nathan wishes that he was less fond of wandering around. It's dark, Kitty disappeared right before the lights went out, the sirens are shrieking, and he has no idea where he is in relation to any of the places that he would rather be. Like the apartment, where there are lights. Not that he's afraid of the dark or anything.

(The dark is fine. It's the sensation of being not-quite-real that comes along with the loss of visual input that bothers him, and the feeling is only enhanced by the sirens. Then again, he's crazy; maybe this is a new facet of craziness. Maybe all of the vivid, disturbing scenarios in his head were just precursors to something even more frightening.)

Nathan sits where he is and hugs his knees to his chest. He's just asking to be tripped over.]

[The worst thing about the dark is that there is no way to know where you're going. Gwen has tried very very hard to figure out where she is. The sirens had led her out of the apartment but in this damn dark... She has lost her way. Now she has lost more than that. Gwen has lost her temper. Trying to find someone else in the dark the reason within her stopped and she parted from the wall she had been holding. Now she is between things to hold on to, and without anchor she is just floating in space and her heart is beating so hard she feel sick. And suddenly Gwen walks in to something, someone on the ground, and in her fear and shock her body acts like it's trained and she aims a kick at whatever-it-is.]

[ The thing about night vision is that it still needs a little bit of light to function. This in turn means that there are no handy flashlights readily available — he never needed them before, so why now? Adding the blaring siren to his supernaturally enhanced senses makes for one cranky vampire and it's not until the sound has died down that he finally ventures outside, blindly fumbling his way down the staircase and into the pitch black streets.

He's got a lighter. Lighters can set things alight. ]

[ Sirens weren't exactly Rose's cup of tea either. She tried to block the sound out as much as possible but to no avail. When her ears stop ringing she moves to the kitchen to get something to eat, drinking the rest of the blood that she had in the fridge.

She should probably get some more before tomorrow. Little difficult when it was really dark outside and nothing seemed to be working properly. Rose goes out into the darkness, carefully and cautiously. She didn't know what or whom she was going to run into.

After a short time wandering Rose spots a faint glow ahead of her and goes towards it, deciding not to use her super speed for once. ]

Hey. [ She calls out when she's closer, catching a familiar scent. ] Spike?

[ Aidan was lucky enough to still be inside when the lights went out, on account of that stubborn cold he still haven't been able to shake. Still, sniffles and a low grade fever isn't going to keep him in bed during an emergency like this. No way.

Go-bag strapped tightly to his back and kitchen knife unsheathed, he hurries through the darkened dome. Where, he's not sure. [It was slow going but Euphie got the hang of using Sam's communicator flashlight idea to get herself from the educational center back toward the apartment. Somewhere between her attempt to get back and his attempt to get away the roommates manage to cross paths.

She hears him before she sees him.] Who's there? [She casts the light from the communicator around only to have it go dark on her as the loop ends. She'll need to restart it, fingers feeling their way in the dark.] Ah!
