294 // beach mingle
[ Camping out on the beach is fun, right? Sleeping under the stars, lulled to sleep by the lapping of the waves and the rustling in the palm fronds. This isn't a refugee camp, this is a resort!

Several larger tents have been prepared on the beach. If this isn't enough there's a bunch of smaller ones ready to be set up, along with the permanent beach huts if tents aren't your thing. The makings of hot dogs and s'mores are available by the fire pits and if you have additional dietary desires, the convenience store isn't far away!

Enjoy! ]

(( ooc: Event information HERE! Please remember that if your character does not spend the night on the beach, they'll be forced to camp out on a park bench or in a coffee shop. The apartment buildings are off limits until next dayweek. ))

Yeah, we learned that quickly. We usually have knives and Daryl has his crossbow and Michonne has her katanna... because they make no noise. Guns are more of a last resort, if we have to use them.

Kind of like the weapons we have in here, but less because of noise and more because it's easier to build some things than others.

Yeah, like those. Kind of the same thing.

I guess automated manufacturing is hard without power. [She doesn't really need to guess. She's seen the results herself in her world.]

Yeah, that's pretty much gone. Unless we had a waterwheel for power or figured out how to harness the power of a potato.

I know how to harness the power of a potato, but if you want more than a lit bulb or a clock it wouldn't do you much good. I could show you if you want though.

Yeah I've seen that. They advertised them in magazines as science experiments. Probably won't help that much here though aside from being an odd thing to do with a potato.

You'd probably also rather eat the potatoes if you had them at home.

Well yeah. Unless potatoes could power a whole kitchen, they are better for food than for power. I mean really? "I'm sorry we have no food, but look! Lightbulb!"

[That gets a smile.] There were a few times I was hungry enough I might have considered trying to eat actual light bulbs.

I've considered eating a lot of things before, but never a light bulb. Dog food once.

Did you eat it or just consider it?

I was ready to. My dad didn't let me.

Probably best. Hard to say what they put in there. Some brands are okay though. [Has she tried it? Maaaaybe.]

Well, at that point I really wasn't concerned with what was in it. When my dad saw what I had just opened, he grabbed the can and threw it. Then the walkers came stumbling up and we took off.

Is that all they do? Walk? No joggers or runners or skippers? That would be something to see a skipping zombie.

Ones that are recently dead are more likely to be able to run or close to it. The other's just kind of amble about. Most aren't dangerous anymore if you have some distance or have a weapon and know they are there.

I have never seen one skip and I'd be a little worried to see that.

I might have been kidding about the skippers. [She smiles, but the picture of the world he paints is pretty damn bleak. Worse than hers in some ways.]

I figured you were... but I'd still be worried if one did. It would be pretty odd.

Kind of amusing? It's the small things, right?

Yeah it would be amusing. Clearly it would be far too cocky for its own good if it started skipping.

No, we wouldn't. Nothing worse than a zombie that's full of itself.

[Heck, if he can't joke about zombies when he doesn't have to see them everyday, what else can he do?]

Wild guess. It was so obvious.
