[ she's been giving this consideration after certain things have happened and what she's been noticing happening. it seems as though a lot of the people here are having a difficult time, some more open than others, and deanna wants to be able to offer something to help them cope. she doesn't know if any of them will take her up on her offer, especially since she can't just override them by rank given to a counselor like she would on the enterprise, but she figures it can't hurt to offer.

so here she is, turning on the communicators for something she hopes will be simple, but knows likely won't be. ]

My name is Deanna Troi. I know I haven't met many of you yet and I hope that we will be able to talk in the future. That's part of why I'm setting up this communication. I've noticed that a lot of us are having a difficult time, either settling in or dealing with what's happened lately. [ the marinalympics stuff and losing so many people so suddenly... a lot of things, really. ]

I realize that I don't know a lot of you and so this may sound strange [ or upsetting ] to some of you. My job back where I'm from is to help my [ crew ] fellows by talking them through whatever difficulties their lives present. I'm a counselor and I would like to offer the same here. I don't yet have an office, but I think for the remainder of the day, I will be in Två Park in Sector 2 if anyone would like to speak with me. I would be happy to talk with anyone at any time, even if it's just about the weather. Our talks will always be entirely confidential.

[ she offers a gentle smile here. ] And at least the weather today is nice. [ and that's all for the communicators.

as for action, she's going to be at the aforementioned park in sector 2 for the remainder of the day and open for anyone to stumble upon, planned or otherwise. also her permissions post is here! ]

Alright... I suppose that would be a good place to start. [ Deep breath. ] I grew up in a small town on the west coast called Coeur d'Coeurs. My mom died when I was born and my dad... he died when I was eight. I lived with two sisters that I called my aunts. They were a famous synchronized swimming duo called the Darling Mermaid Darlings, until a freak kitty-litter accident put an end to their career and they became shut-ins instead.

	How they reacted..? [ She's quiet for a moment, mulling it over. It's not a hard question, just put in different words. ] They barely left the house. Neither did I... I was homeschooled and later I found work over the phone as a jury member for a paraplegic judge. I didn't really go anywhere until about ten months ago. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

	I went on a cruise. [ She smiles, somewhat bitterly. ] I wanted to do something with my life and as it happens, I got a deal thought Boutique Travel Travel Boutique. Yes, of course. I mean, before I spent most of my time at home with the bees but after I came back to life there's a lot more crimesolving and piebaking. Oh, and hiding my identity of course. Can't ever forget that. [ And not touching her boyfriend, but that's a topic that requires its own chapter. They'll get to it. ]

It's different here, too. I can be... me. No reason to hide who I am in a place that's never heard of lonely tourist Charlotte Charles.

Hiding who you really are isn't easy. I know that must have been difficult for you. [ she does remember that time she woke up looking like a romulan and had to play the part of a high-ranking romulan to help a resistance movement do something she hadn't been aware of until she'd been kidnapped. that had been fun. ]

That must change how you act around other people, as well. I would be much easier to simply come forward with your identity from the start.

Does that include any sort of touch, even if there's a piece of fabric or cloth [ or something else ] between you?

[ she knows it isn't the same, couldn't imagine not being able to touch her husband, but on the other hand, at least there's the positive side that she can see and talk to him. not being dead has perks, too. ]

	No, that's fine. Well, it's not really a risk we're taking if we can avoid it since who knows when there'll be a skinslip? But holding hands with mittens on is fine and you can do a lot with plastic wrap if you're a little creative. There's still... a lot we can't do. Like hug. Or actually kiss. Or...
