229 - Heatwave mingle
[ It's a sweltering hot day under the sea! Luckily the wardens have provided the necessary means to keep cool: whether you're sunbathing at the beach, sniping your fellow inmates with a fully loaded super soaker or just cooling off under a tree with a cold treat, this is the place to do it! ]

(( ooc: Mingle away! You are of course encouraged to make your own posts and mingles for this event, should you want to! Event information can be found over HERE! ))

Absolutely. [ no, she's not. ] Oceans bring back memories is all. [ not entirely pleasant ones, either. ]

Good to know most everyone is dealing well with the heat. I'd rather not return to the clinic to find cases of heat stroke.

[The same for him. Celestial Being's planetside base had been hidden on a small tropical island. He'd spent a good amount of time there when not on the Ptolomaios. He did feel she was being a bit distant with her comment about the ocean, so he let it go.]

I am certain there are always those who do not use common sense when dealing with such things as extreme climates, however I did not notice any difficulties over the network. I doubt the clinic will be crowded.

[ to be fair, the titanic is an issue unto itself for helen. she doesn't need this reminder of that horrible tragedy.

and yet, here she is, by the water. ]

I should hope not or I may end up giving them an earful to go with their medicine.

[That got a slightly amused look in response.]

There certainly is no real reason for anyone to have been too careless today about it.

[He looked out across the water. It wasn't far to the dome wall from the edge of the sand, so it wasn't like a massive expanse of sea. In a way, it was a little disheartening... a grim reminder of their current situation.]

I am glad you have not succumbed to the heat. [He respected Helen. And that was saying a lot. She came across as someone who had her head on securely, for the most part, at least, and was intelligent. Tieria always respected intelligence and those who were willing to learn. The fact that she was a doctor spoke of her dedication, certainly.]

[ she gives an amused laugh. ]

I've spent five consecutive years in the Egyptian desert. This is nothing.

[ compared to what she's experienced, a little heat like this hardly counts as a heatwave. this is... maybe a little warm to her. ]

You seem to be taking it fine as well.

[He nodded.]

My body has a higher tolerance for extremes. Though, that does not necessarily mean I like them.

[He really disliked being on a planet's surface for a variety of reasons. Weather included. Spaceships were much more controlled, much cleaner, and much quieter. Well, at least, when they weren't in battle or doing heavy repairs.]

Tolerance doesn't always mean acceptance or approval.

[ that actually means a great deal. she's being honest about more than just the heat, though what she means entirely she isn't saying. ]

It simply means one is able to adapt easier.

This is true. [He was actually familiar with the other concept that first statement could imply.]

How is the clinic doing?

[ it's something she's seen more times than she cares to count in her life. ]

Very well so far. We haven't seen many patients yet, though that could be considered as much a good thing as not. I'd rather not have a flood of people demanding attention.

[ it's said in a teasing manner, as much to break any potentially tense atmosphere as it is to offer information. ]

[That did get a small smile from him. He wasn't often one to smile or laugh openly, so even just the fact that she got that much of a reaction was a good thing.]

I can understand.

[He nodded.]

If all goes well, it is likely to stay that way. [They could hope.]

I do appreciate the lessons. [She had offered, and he had taken her up on that, and he was a super quick learner. Tieria had the ability to absorb information much faster than most.]

Absolutely. I'm more than happy to teach what I know. And it's a pleasure to work with eager students.

[He nodded.]

Are you planning on staying here long?

[After all, it was starting to get late, and she seemed to be alone.]

I honestly hadn't decided. It isn't a bad location or time.

No. I suppose not.

[It was quiet, good for reflection.]

Especially if you have things you want to think about.
