[If you didn't have the joyous pleasure of running into Alex the day before when he made the coffee shop his burrow for the entire day (and night, as it turned out) then perhaps you'd have the great pleasure of finding him still there the next morning, having slept on the bench seat of the booth in bright blue scrubs and the table surface covered in scattered coffee cups.

Or perhaps you'll see him later on when he dares venture outside, eying the world with skepticism and reluctant acceptance that this isn't a dream. Psychotic break may still be on the table, but the hallucinations weren't going away to any degree. So later on he'll have changed to a plain tank top and jeans despite the heat.]

[ The thing about the coffee shop is that it's the kind of place you frequent. It's not like any of the other restaurants where you can rotate or go someplace new on a whim. The coffee shop is special. Sacred. Sure, other places have coffee and there is such a thing as coffee makers for home use but it's not the same. There's atmosphere and ordering and a certain smell and by now it's so ingrained in Reid's routines that he doesn't even think to go somewhere else for his caffeine fix.

A decision he regrets soon as he spots the rude newcomer.

Of course, by now it's too late. Leaving would only draw attention — a fact he's learned through years of bullying — and so he proceeds with the ordering, perfectly happy to pretend he didn't even notice the bastard even though he very much did. ]

[Bench seat or not, he got a few well deserved hours of sleep. Wasn't that much more uncomfortable than some of the on-call rooms and he'd been running on pretty much empty the whole day yesterday. So some shut eye does make Karev a slightly less antagonistic guy, though hearing the door chime every time someone came in that morning was getting old really fast.

He was still laying back on the booth seat, one knee bent up and his scrubs wrinkled. Rather than spend the better half of the morning staring at ceiling tiles attempting to accept reality, he puts his hands over his face and groans as yet another person comes in and orders. He recognizes the voice.

He pushes himself up on a forearm.] I thought you agreed to scram, leaving me alone.

Yeah, well. That requires work. [He falls back on the seat as if to lay down again, but it's really only to rub his eyes and pus himself up sideways to sit. He is rather sore from the sleeping arrangement and rubs his stiff shoulder. He still feels like a bag of bricks and it shows, tiredness etched into his face today and leaking into his slow movements.]

I don't mind the people, but that chime's getting dismantled as soon as I bother to get up.
