[She nods, tears trickling down her cheeks. ] I was 'fraid it wouldn't. [She reached out and squeezed Peter's hand hard with her own gloved one.]

You'd still want to date me if I hurt you? [She didn't expect that, at all. She'd expected that he'd want to get away from her as fast and as far as possible. Of course, he might still change his mind afterwards. The barrier is nudging them closer, but there's still some space between them.]

What? Of... course. [No hesitance, just a blink of surprise.]

I'm extra durable, too. I've had buses land on me, giant lizard men use me as a scratching post and crazy immortal women stab me with their magical life-imbuing swords. [This is lighthearted! Lightheartedly said!] A kiss from the girl I... really, really like is not the worst thing. And even if it hurts, it still won't be. Trust me.

[He leans a little closer, edging towards it without yet going for it.] If anything, it'll just make me want to date you more.

[Clearly she's confused by his words and by his lack of hesitation. It's not until he edges closer and says it might make him want to date her more that the confusion fades away to a soft smile. She's still worried and still scared, but somehow he's helped to make it a little better. Finally she nods.]

'Kay. We should...we should sit down. [Because he's less likely to hit his head on the way down if he gets wobbly. She tugs on his arm, pulling him down to sit on the floor. With the bubble getting smaller and smaller, there's not much room. She hesitates a moment before sitting on him, straddling him with a leg on each side of his hips.] This okay?

[Because despite the fact she's half afraid she's going to have to kiss him into a coma, this is pretty forward for them]

[Peter's trying not to think of just how forward, for a few reasons, but not because it's not well... enjoyable. As a matter of fact, even if he tried to think about it, there are about twenty other things more importantly on his mind.

He does, however, rest his hands gingerly on the sides of her thighs and offers her a crooked and somewhat nervous grin.] Perfect.

[He swallows hard.] Once we start we shouldn't stop until it's broken, for sure. And we've got confetti in our eyes. Agreed? [Second chances-- third chances-- are a probable no go.]

[Unfortunately, their position doesn't offer the distraction that it would normally because there are so many other important things to think about. She's equally as nervous, scared and already hating herself for hurting him. She nods a little.] Right. Keep--repeatedly doin' it would just make it harder on you.

[Another deep breath.] I really, really like you.

[She thinks it should be said before she's forced to hurt him. After a moment, she puts her hands on his shoulders and leans in, pausing when her lips are just a breath away from his.] Take a deep breath. [She whispers and closes that space between them. She doesn't start the kiss off soft, light or chaste. If they've got to do this, time won't afford them the luxury of easing into it.]

[Deep breath taken. And lips to lips are a go, and for the duration of that one breath it seems like everything is fine. They're kissing, he feels her close to him and the kiss is undeniably hot but it's all pleasant in the sense that they don't get to do this and now they're doing it. He kisses her back with a kindled passion, hands smoothing up her thighs towards her hips to rest there.

He wants to cup her neck, her jaw, play his fingers through her hair but limiting touch is the plan. And the kiss is plenty of touch already. A blissful second lasts but soon quickly ends. And like waking from a dream, the haze filters. His fingers curl tightly, his shoulders go rigid.

Just a little longer. But everything goes black.]

[for that brief moment, it's an amazing kiss. It's enough to make her forget about what's going to happen, enough for her fear to fade away, enough for her just to get into the kissing. She makes a little noise of pleasure, gloved hands threading up into his hair and pulling him closer. For just a second she's just a girl kissing a boy that she likes.

Then his fingers curl tightly against her hips and his shoulders tense up and she's jerked right back to reality. This isn't an innocent kiss. It isn't hot or sexy. It's just scary. The tears are back and even when Peter goes rigid, she keeps kissing him.

Finally, moments after Peter goes limp, the confetti rains down on them and the bubble pops. Rogue is in tears, sobbing as she lays Peter back carefully on the floor, his head in her lap. Gloved fingers slide through his hair, along his cheek.]

Peter. Peter.
