Well duh, I thought you'd be all over it with all the pretty girls here in the prison. The strategy is to find all the cute boys and try to catch them with a bot. Then you can blame all the kissing on the bots. It's fun.

[Although she realizes that maybe not everyone would find it fun. And Xander had definitely balked at her kissage when she'd first arrived. She lifts one shoulder in a half-shrug.] I mean... if you're into that kind of thing... kissind pretty people.

Well yeah. Cause why not take advantage of what amounts to the most awesome mechanical malfunctions ever? Kissing bots? Whoever came up with that idea was kind of brilliant.

[She pauses, pushing her hair back behind her ears and trying to play it cool in front of him.] Way better than any bots Warren ever made, right? [Not really. She kind of grew to love that Buffy Bot after awhile. Freud would have a field day with that.]

I don't know. Buffy Bot came in pretty handy. [She was all they had of her for awhile.]

[As for the rest of it Xander had NOT GOOD FEELINGS which he hasn't been able to neatly stack yet. It's not like he'd be jealous, right? So, these must just come from a protective place and no where else.] Dawn, some of the people here are dangerous. You shouldn't be running around just...kissing them. You should get somewhere safe like...a very small closet with no windows. [Yes, Dawn, avoid all those closets with ample windows.]

We cannot find a closet right now. [Said very quickly with all the words run together. Because Dawn was pretty sure being that close o Xander right now when she was just starting to move past it all would be terrible for her already broken heart. But she realizes how weird that sounded with how quickly she said it.]

But... I mean... together. You can find a closet and I can find a closet but not a mutual closet. That's what I mean. Cause... cramped and I have my book bag with me and there would be clothes and whatever else taking up said closet and really I'm not okay with tight places cause... claustrophobic. [All the excuses, real and not.]

That's what I meant with the separate closets. Mutual would be not the best thing because of...the book bag. [He doesn't like being the one doing this to her. Making her use all the excuses especially the not real. Making her uncomfortable. He misses his Dawn and he misses the connection he could be having with this Dawn who is also his just in a different kind of way.]

Dawn, I... ["don't know what to say" is going to be a bad ending to this set up, isn't it?] You know you can still talk to me, right?

[She might have commented on the closet situation but then he says... that. And it tugs at her heart strings just a little bit, or a lot. She knows she's been avoiding him more than seeking him out which is the opposite of what she would have ever done back home. But once you see Xander Harris naked and have slept with him for months, it's hard to not have that when he's standing right in front of you. Trust her. She knows.

She pushes her hands back through her hair and tucks it behind her ears, looking down at the ground.] Y- yeah... I know that. I just... it's... there are things. You know? And those things are complicated. So... I just have to push past the complicated things and... I'm getting there. Slowly. But I'm getting there... past those things. And then there will be all the talking. The kind of talking that is more sense-making than... things.

[He really wishes a Xander hug could just fix this right now. Things were simpler in the old days which is strange because even in the old days things were really weird and complicated. A few "reallys" later and here they are. She's trying to deal on her own, and he can't even help because he's the reason she's having to deal in the first place.]

[He doesn't really want that. He wants Dawn in his life. He's just not ready to have Dawn in his life in the way where he's naked and so is she. Maybe he could be. That idea sounds less crazy to him every time they talk. Okay, maybe not that idea, because that's a little creepy to focus on, but the idea that there could be a thing that happens with them. But of course he's thinking about it now. How could he not? But then she's pulling away and things are strange and there is the kissing of all the boys apparently. And then he has things with people that aren't really things. And he doesn't know where that leaves anyone ever. He should be better at this.]
