The fair has come to town! To those of you who have attended a rural county fair, this is pretty much your standard fare. To those of you who haven't, there will be rides, food, games where you can win huge stuffed animal prizes, and also...4 H stuff. Like...cow shows and rabbit shows and horses and talent shows and quilt competitions and...really, name it and it's probably there.

He'd been affected by something, but it was a lot more mystical than a particle accelerator. Which was, presumably, exactly what it sounded like. Ty wasn't much of a scientist. He was handy with tools, the ones he needed to be handy with for work, but beyond that, he was more of what people would consider a flowery artist type.

	Ty sighed. "I wish I knew." He could stop if he did. "It's just...a symptom of who I am." He didn't like talking about it, it was dangerous for mortals to get mixed up in god stuff, and he was so used to keeping it secret anyway. 	Barry put up his hands with a smile. "Hey, no problem, man. I don't care who you are. We can't always help who we are, right? It's what we do with our abilities that makes the difference." The kid sounded like some sort of superhero with his idealism. Ty didn't believe that there was always a difference to be made. Not with his powers. The best he could choose to do with them was not deliberately freeze people.

Sometimes that still happened accidentally. And hurt the people he loved.

Still, he forced himself to smile, polite to the point that he wasn't going to force that on a total stranger. His pessimism could be his own. "You're not wrong, mate."

Barry, of course, was a superhero. And he had the heart of one, whether he felt like it all the time or not. And of course, he knew nothing of the reasons Ty could do what he could, or any of the things he'd been through because of it. He only knew what he could feel and see standing here at the fair.

"Well, this is a good place to be different, though, huh? People seem to be almost entirely okay with it."

"They do," he agreed. Ty wasn't actually sure how he felt about that. It was strange, and definitely new, and then there was Jane who not only knew who he was, not only accepted it, but seemed like she embraced it. And that was pretty much unheard of.

"Maybe a little too okay with it sometimes." Not everyone was a good different. Not every kind of different was a good different.
