Who: The entire town!
What: The Winter Festival
When: Sunday, December 1st, all day
Where: All along Main Street and neighboring streets
Warnings: Advise if I need to lock, please
It wasn't just Main Street that had been transformed into a winter wonderland, but many of the surrounding streets as well. Elsa had provided the snow and businesses of all kinds had their storefronts decorated elaborately, themed in some cases to the type of store it was and how willing the owners had been to participate. There were sleigh rides, pulled by horses from the local stables, which took groups of up to six people on a tour of the decoration path. All the cars on the streets had been moved off as well, so it was totally clear for people to walk even in the street if they wanted.
There were activities set up for everyone to enjoy, from an area set aside for snowmen to be built (with all the fixings provided, of course) to a meet and greet with the big man himself, Santa. There had been a few volunteers to play Saint Nick, so folks could meet him and take pictures all afternoon and well into the evening. Though it didn't cost anything, people were asked for donations to the non-profit organization that Peter had set up. Each of the businesses had also offered to have a donation can available in their store so that there was a maximum chance of raising money.
Every culture Peter could find that celebrated in December was represented to the best of his abilities. There were stages for the local schools and community groups to perform songs and skits for the holidays. Winter was the star of the day, overall though, with the ice sculptures, skating, snowball fights, and even a hot chocolate bar with all the toppings (including adult beverages with ID). There was absolutely something for everyone to enjoy.
