We made it!

I'd like to thank the Elves that helped out this year: azure_rosa, garonne, karasu_hime, nimrod_9, shadowycat*, starduchess*, and unbroken_halo. I thank all the creators for rising to the occasion and helping to keep the fest going through the entire month. Kudos to all the prompters this year, who inspired such great works! And I'd especially like to cheer the commenters and those of you who responded to the Lurker's Challenge and Remus Bonus. No one gets paid cash to produce fan works. You reward us with your kind comments, and we all appreciate those of you who kept the comment fires burning this year.

If there is a 10th and final year of Snupin Santa, it will be a creator free-for-all with a firm deadline. You can start writing/creating now, in fact, because there will be no sign-up or prompting, either. For now, Santa is going to have a BIG glass of milk and whole jar of cookies. He's earned a long winter's nap, and will take Snupin dreams created this year with him into hibernation.

OK, you still have probably 18 hours or more to make final recs and additional comments that will quality for the Lurker Challenge and Remus Bonus.

This might just be the first year that we didn't qualify one story or piece of art for listing in newsletters. However, Santa saw many of you working on the comment challenge. If you think you made it, leave a comment here and Santa will make sure to mention you on the masterlist post tomorrow.

Also, don't forget, it's Severus' birthday in a few hours! Any drabbles, drawables, discussions or other forums of tribute and worship are welcome on the Lupin_Snape communities.

Title: Fairy Snape and Lupin

Artist Notes: I started out thinking fairies and wished to follow the prompt to the letter. I searched for all kinds of plants and mushrooms for inspiration for the Fairies picture and then the art had its own mind, so I went more simple - abstract and impressionism.

I have a drawing of Severus as a pixie/fairy type with impression style grass, holly bush, and a purple poison flower - I think wolf-bane. Then I decided to do a manipulation that had the flowers and glowy mushroom and tiny little Lupin hiding in the holly/mistletoe. ~_^

And then I thought about another prompt from a while ago and decided to make a third submission. Remus Lupin and Severus Snape under mistletoe - called simply Mistletoe again a more impressionistic/expressive cartoonish style, which I think came out fairly well.

Prompt: DDO#67 - My heart stops when you look at me, from Karasu_hime.

The site was down for most of the day because of an issue on the Server's end. The service provider is working on moving his servers around so that we won't have as many problems as we've had recently. Then again, two down-times solved in less than 24 hours during December isn't too bad, considering. You can always let Santa know when the site is down via the community mod email, lore's emails, or the Snupin Santa email, all of which can be looked up with a few clicks.

Santa is going to post the remaining material starting tonight and into tomorrow. We had many late-comers turn in material in the last week, which is why there are several posts remaining.

We need more comments and recs.

You can comment on the site, or on the posting notices on the journals. You can even make anonymous comments here on the journals. Comments have been extremely scarce since the first week. Santa knows we've all had a busy month, but now that the year is winding down and we will soon return to our routines, please try to make a new habit of commenting as you view materials from the fest. Santa can see how many views a piece receives, so he knows you're at least looking at fest material. Take a moment to let our creators know that you were there by saying a simple "Thanks" or "This saved me from talking to my annoying guests" or "Kilroy was here" or anything. This is the 9th year of Snupin Santa. Do something to let Santa and the creators know that a 10th year will be worth the effort and not flogging a dead horse.

-->Lurker challenge: Severus Snape's birthday is January 9. Everyone is challenged to make 9 new comments on Snupin Santa material between now and the 9th, especially those of you who don't usually comment. Santa wants to see at least 9 new names commenting, too!

Author Notes: First, gratitude and hugs go to my lovely beta, Garonne, who took on this assignment at a moment’s notice and didn’t disappoint with her work. A heartfelt thank-you goes to the moderators, their helpers and everyone who works so hard every year during this busy season to make this fest happen — you’re my heroes! And to everyone, Happy Holidays! I hope you enjoy my humble offering.

Prompt: I got greedy with this one and decided to claim two prompts and combine them into one story: Story prompt #5, from Shadowycat. Set during POA. Severus spots Remus wandering the corridors late at night. Immediately suspicious, he pursues him to try to discover what he's up to. They get into an argument and somehow manage to trigger a hidden door which sends them somewhere deep within the castle where their magic seems useless to get them out, forcing them to work together… and Story prompt #15, from Hogwartshoney. There is something terrifying about the way Lupin prowls in the days before the full moon. Arousing too, Severus admits, but only to himself, desperately arousing. The moon affects humans and lycans in different ways, it's true, and even Muggles tend to be more erratic in their movements, more on edge. The moon's effect on Lupin is something quite different, and Severus shudders despite himself; despite having faced Dark Lords and monster snakes and the hatred of most of the known Wizarding world, this fear, this anticipation of almost-danger - this is something he can find nowhere else.

Santa's workshop experienced a small flood last night, which is why the doors were closed on Saturday. However, we doubled production today and hope you enjoy seeing these two artists' takes on the same prompt.
