ribbony recs: stories

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Theme: These Snape/Lupin fics were all originally written for me! I am such a lucky duck:

(1) "On the Dynamics of an Asteroid," by Ellid (at Moonshadow).

(2) Four Christmas Eves Where Severus Snape and Remus Lupin Fail to Communicate... and One Where They Succeed, by Sahiya.

(3) Why Severus Snape Might Have to Shout 'Yoda' in the Midst of Battle by [info]westernredcedar

(4) Part 9 of Through the Looking Glass, by [info]pixychelle. (And I get a cameo in Part 20...)

(5) Anything But, by [info]lore

I hope you enjoy these too! *encourages lavish praise of these wonderful, generous souls*

All work-safe except for #5.
And #5 is So Very Not Work Safe, in spite of having (literal) heaps of gorgeous Restoration garb in it.

(1) Developing a Potion without Taking the Credit (or: Severus' Messy Desk) by [info]omni_sama

(2) Translate the Hints by karasu_hime (f-locked). Karasu also drew the icon I'm using with this post.

(3) The Roar of Pebbles by almost_clara

(4) Three scenes from "Those I Can Save" by [info]trickofthedark

(5) A Shocking Discovery by ebonyserpent

Beautiful, Slightly Out-of-Character, Non-IJ/LJ Snupin fics

I really hope this is alright to post, seeing as I have one rec that's a WIP and probably will never get finished. If it's not okay, I'm so sorry.  Please tell me and I'll delete this post right away.

Family Fest: "We Are Family... and Homicide Isn't an Option"

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Title: We Are Family... and Homicide Isn't an Option
By: McKay
Rated: PG13 for strong language and adult situations
Warning: cross-dressing and lots of it
Summary: Remus is the owner of a successful drag club whose long-term partner, Severus, is also the star diva of the club. Their lives are peaceful and happy until Remus' son, Ted, comes home to make a request: play it straight for his potential in-laws.
Notes: Non-magical AU. Written for the 2008 Family Fest. There were two prompts that requested stories based on The Bird Cage/La Cage aux Folles; this story doesn't quite fit either of them, but is more like a mixture of both.
Word count: ~14,500

Severus is not beautiful as a woman. No, even though I see him through rose-tinted glasses, I still can't say he's beautiful. But striking? Oh, yes. Even his detractors can't deny that even as they make disparaging remarks about his resemblance to Anjelica Huston as Morticia Addams. As a woman, he's tall and willowy like a runway model or an Erté drawing. Even as a man, he cuts an androgynous figure: narrow shoulders, lean build, long hair, slender hands with long and graceful fingers, a beakish nose set in features that grow more angular with age.

Quickie notes - recs clarification and did you miss this?

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
First off, I think because of the IJ downtime, many of you might have missed this delightful Anniversary art (NWS) by [info]skitty_kat. So fun and cute - be sure to give her some comments for this great community gift!

Second, on the Recommendations post - I had meant everyone to reply to the post with their recs, however, I am perfectly fine with recs posted to the community as long as they are behind a cut-tag if they go over 10 lines (which is a community rule for general posts - story, art and mod posts are a bit different).

Please do not delete your posts or take this as a rebuke if you've already posted to the community. You're fine, you're good, you're wonderful! I just wanted to clarify some questions and rules, and to encourage you to post a link at the original recs post, as I might add it to the sidebar if there's many responses. You may also combine your lists into one post if you choose to do more than one category (Art and Story, Story and Other, all three, etc.).

Thanks, all! I'm loving reading the recs we've had so far!

love, lore

P.S. - Let me burn an extra rec by encouraging you all to read We Are Family... and Homicide Isn't an Option by [info]scribbulus_ink. It's a Family Fest story based on The Bird Cage/La Cage aux Folles, but more than that, it's another gem of a story from a writer who has been around Snape/Lupin almost from its inception. People have been drifting away from Harry Potter for a while now, but McKay still keeps her hat in the ring here at [info]lupin_snape. After 5 years (6?), the fact that she's still writing for us is pretty special. Whether you've just arrived here or have been around for ages, Anniversary Month is a great time to read and comment on something new from a classic author. (Bwa! And look who posted as I was writing! ♥)

10 recs - stories and art

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
I thought since the Dark Side Challenge is launching soon, I'd rec some stories that I find funny or on the lighter side to give us a last ray of light before being plunged into darkness. ;)

In no particular order...

1) Every Snupin Ever Written, by The Treacle Tart (PG-13). This is a story that never fails to amuse me because - in the words of Homer Simpson - it's funny because it's true. The story holds up on its own, but the fun part is going through and thinking of stories I've read (or written) that fit the cliche descriptions. It's a game of "Spot the Snupin", but it's done with clever tongue-in-cheek, not malice or mockery. In addition, The Treacle Tart's writing is always a pleasure to read.

Osmalic has a companion piece that identifies some of the stories that fit the various tropes listed (although I'm sure the list could be even longer) so you get several recs for the price of one with this story.

Four more story recs... )

And now for some art recs! I decided to rec some of my favorite smutty art, because there's no such thing as too much RL/SS smut. Suffice to say, ALL of the following art links are Not Work/Family Safe. Again, in no particular order...

1) Trapped, by Noesumeragi. GUH. Wall sex. Partially-clothed sex. Aggressive!Remus. *MELTS* This hits my biggest kink buttons in the best possible way, and above and beyond the hotness factor, I love the character designs, especially Remus' touseled hair, and the expressiveness of the piece. I can practically see them moving together.

5 Fic recs, and another...

There's so much brilliant stuff written, it's almost impossible to limit it to five recs.
1. Delineation of a Duellist by [info]inner_slytherin. I love this story – I could read it 100 times and still adore it. There's Remus, broken but shining and so very beautiful. And then Severus, so in love with Remus, and so not saying, but revealing it with every interaction, and all the care he gives Remus. And there's Sirius, smashed, shattered, utterly wasted, and utterly still in love with Remus. I love this fic – it is so perfect. Also available at the Moonshadow archive, where inner_slytherin's user name is Carfiniel.Read more... )
