The grass is getting greener each day
Who: Daisy, Darklis and Rina
Where: Darklis' home
When: Afternoon
Rina was not mad at her cousin, not at all. She understood that Darklis had done what she thought was necessary for her own well-being. Rina may have done something similar if the need ever arose. Though I wouldn't use a gun of any sort. The angel doubted that she would even be able to lift a gun again anywhere that was not her dreams. But, no matter how not mad or upset she was, Rina was still having a few problems looking Darklis in the eye. Because her cousin had needed to put her to sleep so that she could stop worrying about her. Here Rina was, an angel, and she was being looked after by one of her own wards as though she were an errant child who did not know how to behave herself. Her mother would have been ashamed of her, acting like this. Nightmares were no excuse to behave like she had been. Staying up for days on end, refusing help, refusing to talk, going through several little fits and just wishing the world away... no, her mother would definitely not approve. Neither would Elin if she was there. She would take Rina's face in her hands, kiss her on the forehead and tell her that she just needed to accept that it was okay to be helped sometimes. Darklis was her family and cared about her, that was all there was to it. Sometimes, like then, Rina missed the reassuring presence of the angel of Love since she always knew what to say. Elin would've agreed with Darklis. Sighing, Rina turned to the oven. She had gotten up and decided that she was going to make cookies. Darklis seemed to have remembered her promise of stocking the cabinets and, though there was nothing in the fridge that stirred Rina's appetite, the idea of cookies was just appealing. She remembered how to make them for the most part, though the ingredients looked a little different than she recalled and the oven itself was quite a bit different. She had nearly given into tears of frustration the first time it had beeped and she had been unable to figure out how to make it stop until Trouble came waltzing in.
The little cat was surprisingly knowledgeable about the oven and was able to guide Rina through the steps to get the thing set up. She had also tried to steal the cookie dough until Rina had managed to get it all on the tray and into the oven. Now, while Rina looked distractedly out the window, twisting her ring around her finger, the cat had made her way into the mixing bowl in an attempt to lick all the leftover dough out of it. "You know that stuff isn't good for you raw," Rina informed her familiar, glancing over her shoulder to see the tip of Trouble's head just visible over the bowl's rim. "I may have let you have a cookie when they were finished baking."
The little gray head popped up over the rim, licking at her lips. 'Everyone says that the dough tastes better! And I thought cookies were always bad for you.'
"Well, yes..." Rina paused, eyes going unfocused as she realized that there was someone coming up the sidewalk. Someone she knew. When the time dinged she took the time to pull them out, scooping Trouble up in one hand despite the cat's protests, and moved towards the door. She reached it before the bell even had time to ring and, glancing through the peephole, all she had to see was the top of the woman's head to know exactly who she was. Not because she only knew one blonde, but because she was a Patron and that was one of hers. Pulling the door open, Rina smiled at the sight of Daisy, mostly hidden behind what looked to be a basket of flowers and fruit. She could not even quite see her face. "Hello Daisy," she greeted, not really that surprised to have her there. From what she knew of her, gathered from the information she just had about what was wrong with the woman, Daisy was not the sort to put space between herself and someone who had done something for her that she appreciated. And I think I told her where I lived in case she needed me and didn't remember to invoke me. If I even remembered to tell her she could do that... She had remembered to tell Caelia, but had she remembered for any of the others? That thought bothered her more than a little. Someone could have needed her... "I expected you to still be resting, healing up. Your leg's no better." Broken legs took time to heal if there was no one around to quicken the process.
'Invite her in to sit down if her leg's hurt. Darklis won't mind.' You think? 'Please, she's probably all distracted by some painting, I haven't seen her all day. Besides, she comes in, you put me down, she pets me. Everybody wins. Give her a cookie too.'
Pushing a piece of hair behind her ear, Rina stepped back a little, though she felt extremely awkward at the idea of inviting Daisy in it really made no sense to leave her out on the porch when she was still hurt. Besides, she was one of Rina's. "Would you like to come in? I just finished making cookies. They might even be edible." That was when Rina realized that Trouble had jumped down and was racing off towards the stairs. "Where are you-"
'I'm going to get Darklis.' The small cat was jumping up the steps. 'Maybe she'd like a cookie too!'
